I'm really tempted to make an Iron Throne bracket ;D
As long as the Lannisters lose I'm happy.
Oh, there is one thing about this show that really annoys me though.
Every character ALWAYS wears the same damn clothes!!!
Unless they have to specifically wear a dfferent outfit for a certain occasion you can guarantee they will all be wearing the same bloody outfits.
It makes them less like real people and more like cartoon or Star Wars figures.
For fuck's sake change your clothes once in a while you dirty scabs.
I just can't believe they killed off the king already. :o
So Bilbo, Daenerys or Jessica? ;)
So, ok,
you're a bunch of hatable lunatics, really. For many years, I've been free of tv serials, watching only documentaries or movies, I was kind of proud of that. But the tease here just got too much and I thought I should at least download one episode to see what it was like... now my eyes hurt, I've watched the 7 episodes almost back to back and I am angry that the next one will only be broadcasted next saturday. I also couldn't resist to go on the website and skim through it all to understand even better the whole web connecting all the different houses/characters together. All of those who did push me to watch it, I hate you all, I am a tad too addicted now, really.
Favorite characters: There are a few that I quite enjoy for various reasons but Stark's youngest daughter is quite cool: going against conventions to be what she wants to be with a "kick in the face" attitude and a dislike for royalty, couldn't get any much better than that. I quite smiled when the dragon king finally got his crown, figured out his days were over as he was way too brash in front of a "barbarian" king and his tribe and to have absolutely no regards for his sister but I didn't see the gold crown coming, good riddance, fancy fag.
Its crazy that its almost over already. 8th episode tonight, just two more after that and I suspect they'll fly by.
There's been talk that the third book might take two seasons which is great. Massive book, tons of stuff going on. Ten episodes for that book would be a lot more rushed than 10 for the first one.
No question that I will be buying the Blu ray to support this series. I also have hope that possibly The Baroque Cycle will someday be made into a series.
They now have Zombies so I'm a big fan.
Not so keen on the pony tailed overly snarling snatcher of tongues guy. Have a feeling the Fencing Spaniard (?) is still alive. Hopefully, like the character.
Khal Drogo really won me over this episode, I jusgt love how he can be so brutal, ripping out someone's tongue fromtheir throat one second and then cooing over his moon princess the next. Denerys showed she's still a good girl too so they are the ones I'm rooting for at the moment.
I do like Robb Stark, I hope they all make it out alive.
Tyrian has been consistently awesome and this episode was no different.
Only two episodes to go which is a shame, I'm just hoping the latest True Blood series will finally see Jessica getting her tits out.
I mean, ok I know her character is technically a minor but the actress must be 25 now so lets see some skin for fuck's sake...
Khalise needs to show something in the last two episodes as well..
It is a bit difficult to hate the Stark family. I am not very fond on the oldest daughter though, a bit too naive and "stereotype" for my tastes. The rest of the season is going to be very entertaining: White walkers roaming in the north, 40 000 Dothrakis and the Starks and Lannister going at each others throat plus the courts enigmas, sounds like what's coming will be packed up with action and unexpected turnover.
am up to date but i still don't know the names of any of the Stark children - or several other characters come to that ! And why that brothel magnate is such a key player is a mystery to me
looking forward to the last two mind which I am hoping will be one long battle
Can't wait for tonight. Most anticipated of the year.
I did a very stupid thing and read the back cover of the second book.
Pretty big plot spoiler on that :-\
:sadclick:
I just looked at my paperback copy, doesn't really say anything but obviously there are different editions. I can only think of two things it could be really.
:feedme:
I am completely lost as far as the names go but favs so far are little witty half dude...the dancing fenser...the elder Knight they sent out to pasture last episode who told em to sod off...the scruffy friend of the son of the would be king (gappy teeth) hey thats the best I have. Great series, one to be watched right over back to back.
Ha! Believe he's the 2nd to the imprisoned 'Kings' son, Rob. The yng guy with beard and always next to him. I'll catch it I'm just easily distracted ;D
edit, damn your quick
So...
thoughts?
Fuckin hell....didn't see that coming! Never put your faith in a blond haired mommas boy with a bowl hair cut :-X
If anything that just shows no one is safe in this series.
I was worried the whole time that they wouldn't do it.
Great episode, I read on the back cover of the second book about that little spoiler so I knew it was coming. More gutted about Khal Drogo though, was just getting to like him, hope he makes it.
Having Tyrian pass out before the battle was a neat way to save a few hundred thousand pounds on an epic battle scene I guess but I hope the last episode doesn't short change us.
How the fuck did Jaime Lanister get captured?
Lefty, Joffre is a cunt, hope the next series is all about Arya plotting his demise.
Great episode, love Khalise and Jorah Mormant is becoming a bit of a hero.
Apparently people are pissed about Boromir. I did think it was interesting that they brought in the big name to play him. In a sense that would make you think he was untouchable. But like I said at the beginning of this he was not the main character, there really isn't a main character in the truest sense.
Looking through the first book chapters and realising he wasnt a POV character I alwats thought he might well be expendable, as I guess are Tywin, Jamie, Khal Drogo, Joffre etc.
There's been a few non stories in this series so far though. The dire wolves I figured would play a pivotal role, Brann's dreams of the three eyed raven, the captured prisoner in Winterfell, the White walkers etc haven't been developed at all as yet. I'm guessing we will see more of them all in the next book?
Also the mystery surrounding Jon Snow and his mother. I was thinking today maybe that foreign girl that Tyrian is with might be his sister or something, or maybe Daenrys is, a long shot but possible. I'm presuming his mother will be someone of significance...
alright, so I finally watched it. I'm glad they did what they should have done with Ned. It had to be done for the story.
But they are skimping things battle wise. Martin has a habit of having major moments be off screen but this was taking it to extremes. Don't want to be the book guy but Tyrion was involved in the fight and they knocked him out early in order to not have to portray the battle. The fight with Jaime was also ignored.
Its all about money I assume. The reason Rome was cancelled was primarily because of the huge budget so they're trying to avoid that by not having large-scale battles on screen. Its understandable I guess, but a bit disappointing.
its similar to them ignoring the direwolves. They're supposed to be huge so they don't know how to portray them. The only answer is CGI, and they're reluctant to do that so they've decided to cut them out to some extent
Still a great episode. TV is an inferior medium for a story like this but they've done well so far.
Oh by the way Bilbo the actress playing Tyrion's whore is a Turkish-German actress who is fairly mainstream but there was this controversy where it came out that she (allegedly) did porn early in her career. I don't know all the details but you can do some google research: Sibel Kekilli.
That's one way to remove the hobbit from our midsts for 20 minutes or so... ;D
There hasn't really been a female character so far that i've thought was fantastic....
Probably the most attractive is Sansa, but even she only has her moments....
The story does move a lot faster than I could think of...
Originally when Ned was looking after the king, I thought the Khal would be a problem with the white haired guy gunning for the throne... Then he died and I thought all would be fine because the girl didn't even seem to want the big fight (happy to just be a khal).. But then when the plans came out for Robert to kill her I figured that the khal problem would start up again.. Either they would succeed in killing her and Drogo would want revenge.. Or won't succeed, and Drogo would want revenge anyway... And I was worried about the consequences to Ned and Robert and the throne..
But then the king dies, and suddenly i'm rooting for the Khals instead of being worried about them, because now they'll be attacking the Lanisters and not the Starks/Berathians...
NOW Drogo is dieing and THAT may even be thrown out the window...
It just amazing how each episode completely turns the show on it's head.. You can be thinking or wanting it to go one way, and 40 minutes later that is all totally irrelevant....
My interest points at the moment
- What will happen to Khal and Kalessi and Mormont for that matter for going in the tent when the witch was doing her thing.. Will the baby be born as a devil? Something must happen with them.. Mormont was a total total moron for taking her in the tent to give birth... Should have been the absolute LAST resort!!
- What the rest of the horse crew will think of Drogo if he survives... Whether he'll still have their respect after being brought back to life by a witch.. I also really wanted, when they were all questioning Kalessi, for her to stand in a fire or something and show how powerful she is.. Especially when they said the "dragons are all dead".
- The Starks reaction to hearing of Ned's death.. Personally I think they should just take Jamie's head off the moment they hear the news... F'ck trying to use him as leverage... He's obviously a strong fighter and I can see him breaking free, or being broken free.... So the Starks lose another upper hand...
- The imp and that girl seems like it could develop into something very interesting.. She's quite challenging to him, but it's just whether she see's something in him now..
- A possible eventual showdown between snow and mormont due to the sword connection... His dad giving it to someone else... the bastard of the person who chased him out of the kingdoms...
interesting interesting..
I hope Snow and Mormont don't come to blows, I really like both characters. Mormont thus far appears a Lancelot fallen hero type character. I'm hoping he plays a role in saving the kingdom rather than destroying it.
Going back to Ned's death why did he confess his treason, was it to save his girls or last minute fright?
Jon Snow is Ned's bastard son who joined the Nights Watch.
And I cannot believe that Ned confessed. I was shocked, and even more so when I realized they were killing him off. Didn't see that coming.
I'm glad that I haven't, or won't read the books, this way everything will be more of a shock when I see it.
I hope to God that Arya goes after Joffrey, and sticks that needle right through his heart. I hate that little fucker. They did a great job casting both those characters.
Boromir was stabbed in the arm last night outside a London bar. True story. Apparently kept drinking.
He's 52 and dating a 22 year old. :o
Legend
King Ricky Hatton wont be listening to his mother all the time anymore.
Starks' 18,000 men defeated Lannister's 30,000 men. That Jamie Lannister is a bum.
Did they defeat all of Jamie's men, or just enough to get through and kidnap Jamie? I know they sent 2000 men to Tywin's men as a decoy... but you really just had to infer yourself (from the tv show anyway) that the other 18,000 were commited to attacking Jamie's army... And that is all you get from it....
We could have used a 2 hr finale, just flies by. I have but one need and thats to see that little twinkle toes girl King Jofrey (?) get taken out is brutal fashion.
This really should have been 2 hours
Great episode. We got dragons, and one last chance to see Danaerys naked, can't really ask for a better way to finish a series than that.
I'm pleased the dragons looked credible. I imagine that will be harder to maintain when they grow but overall for television this series was about as perfect as you could get.
I actually feel a little bit in love with Danaerys, it's a shame she's a fictional character...
Can't wait for Joffre's demise, although I wish Jon Snow would have left. Still with his half sister on her way to him he will be cheered soon. That is if he makes it back alive from north of the wall.
Such a great show. I'm going to weep now to lament its concluding, at least for this year.
True Blood will really have to up its game next week.
And yes by that I mean Jessica's nipples..
I really didn't see the end coming, thought Drogo would make it alive but I did suspect that we could some dragon's back though. Very good series so far, very brutal, seems like Ned Stark's 2 younger boys have some premonition's gifts or something too.
I still haven't seen it, but I was worried the final scene would look a little silly.
Granted, I knew what was coming but I thought they spent a lot of time foreshadowing the dragons. The constant Dany starting at the dragon shells scenes, etc. It was like they were thinking we don't want people to think WTF, all of a sudden there are dragons running around.
SPRING 2012 ?!?
That's way too long. Now what? I'm not a huge True Blood fan and the direction of that show looks super cheesy, the preview I saw looked straight out of a scifi channel made for TV movie.
Maybe I'll get some work done around the house.
