Agreed. I think training with Lewis can only be a good thing for Price long term, but one camp wasn't going to have a drastic impact on him. Especially when he was fighting someone who had just knocked him out and was by a distance the most experienced/best fighter Price had been in with. I don't think Lewis' presence had any significant impact on this fight, but that's not to say that if they have multiple camps together it won't benefit Price. They just need to make sure he's in with the appropriate opposition to work on these new things, because Thompson most certainly isn't the kind of fighter a prospect should be looking to try new things against.

When I said Lewis complicated the situation that was what I meant. Obviously Price forgetting everything he has learnt and been taught in that fight was not all Lennox's fault but having two trainers voices in your head, on top of the psychological baggage the previous loss inflicted, could not have helped. Giving up the advantage a long reach and decent jab gives you to try and trade in close is beyond insane. Respect to Thompson though he showed his mettle and revealed his class. Even without his post fight brilliance he left a big mark on British fight fans.

Iv been saying for ages that Price was over rated. A few got excited about him bowling over some 40 something british journeymen.

He could do a Haye and fiddle around some highly suspect opponents and then get a title shot and just back peddle the whole time but in reality, he will never be what you all want out of a heavyweight because he doesn't have any fight in him. He is so ingrained with the amateur style still. He threw one right hook that hurt Tony but then went back to the straight rights. Hooks whether left or right work better because they arent as easy to see coming. He himself got dropped with a hook!
Lennox was dragged in and paid by Maloney to be there. He did not hive his time up for free to work with and put his name to a liability. Price was never going to learn in training, he needed some old campaigners who are tired. Drag Golota out, Liakovich, Sprott etc.

Exactly I mean what did people watch? The guy was spent almost after the first round. They must have left it in the gym because they had to have been training for a longer fight. He ko'd himself. Maybe Garcia trained him by telephone.

No hes a good puncher not a good fighter, there is a massive difference. He is not mentally strong enough, doent have the will to win. The saying "its not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog" is very appropriate for Price.
A good fighter even in shit shape would have muddled through, holding, mauling buying time, looking crap but getting through the fight. Price was clueless. That isnt a good fighter.

Finally got to see it tonight. First off I'm not sure who the huge bald fukwit in the post fight was but he makes Lampley tolerable. I dunno man...Price just imploded. The kd on Tony seemed to take as much from him just for scoring it. I have no idea what he is doing with that left, but that ain't no jab. He doesn't have a glass chin at all. Thompson came in with that been there-done that swagger and after the hard KD he came to life, if anything he looked to take Price lightly and was having a conversation while laying there. He was just to damn deep and Price was wound tight, bundle of short nerves and not the stamina or tested gears to make up for it. If Price hopes for a future he needs to get out of the spotlight, stay off tv and the froht page and have a couple spoon feeding bouts with Lewis. Get his head back on. Not usually in favor of gimmes but he needs to strip the auto to the rusty frame and build back. Whatever the case it was a solid scrap, credit to both for laying it out there! Btw if and when Thompson retires will someone please sign him to do blow by blow for a network or at least a guest spot on Jimmy kimmel, that post fight was a riot. It's a shame, I thought Price was the better heavy too but alarm bells should have rang as early as him being knocked out in the Olympics by Cameronelli or whatever his name was. Get inside of Price and he's useless.

If you had watched the fight you would have seen that Price threw plenty after being hit numerous times. The fight had more action than all of Fury's bouts put together and the fact that it took Fury 19 rounds to do what Price achieved in one with John McDermott is hardly something to brag about. If you are going to bring up amateur fights then at least be consistent and remember that Price beat Fury before going to the Olympics. If Price is so useless what does that make Fury ?

Fury fought a younger fresher McDermott just 8 months after turning pro. It took Price 3 years to get to that level...
When they fought in the amateurs, Fury hadn't even had 15 bouts and was only 17! Price was representing England and very experienced and was 22:rolleyes:;D

The odd thing with Furys fights with McDermott is he weighed 247lb in the first fight and did shit but in the rematch he weighed a whopping 270lb but dropped McDermott 3 times and stopped him in the 9th!;D

He has no fighters instinct i.e. Hold, take a knee, spoil, run, relax, don't have that stupid "deer caught in headlights" look on your face etc etc.
His fitness was also absolutely APPALLING! Something I had never associated with Price in the past. Could have had something to do with how much tension he was carrying.

It's a shame, I thought Price was the better heavy too but alarm bells should have rang as early as him being knocked out in the Olympics by Cameronelli or whatever his name was. Get inside of Price and he's useless.

If you had watched the fight you would have seen that Price threw plenty after being hit numerous times. The fight had more action than all of Fury's bouts put together and the fact that it took Fury 19 rounds to do what Price achieved in one with John McDermott is hardly something to brag about. If you are going to bring up amateur fights then at least be consistent and remember that Price beat Fury before going to the Olympics. If Price is so useless what does that make Fury ?
What makes you think I didn't watch the fight? Is it because you think my point was that Price never threw any punches back which I never once mentioned? lol Some things never change :cool:
He has no fighters instinct i.e. Hold, take a knee, spoil, run, relax, don't have that stupid "deer caught in headlights" look on your face etc etc.
His fitness was also absolutely APPALLING! Something I had never associated with Price in the past. Could have had something to do with how much tension he was carrying.
Of course it was. That was glaringly obvious. Remove the fear of getting sparked out and anyone could go hard for more than 4 rounds without stumbling about like a new born giraffe wearing banana skin slippers.
His tank was half empty before he got in the ring.
I really dont know where he goes from here to be honest. The idea that he could rebuild on the quiet (off TV...really?) is romantic but unrealistic.

Thompson was a sparring partner for Haye when he was preparing for Audley. In Haye's book it said Tony openly was hostile towards Haye when they were sparring and resented being considered being a sparring partner to the extend that in-between rounds he would stand over Booth and Haye when they were resting in the corner and goading them. He certainly seemed an eccentric personality.
