Canes have had a good comeback tonight, they've been scrappy. 11-2 shots in favor of the Canes in the 3rd. Buffalo have a decent team but they coasted with the lead they had.

Canucks seem to have made some good moves this year, although I would have rather had hiller than miller, hiller is a million a year less and one year less on his contract, didnt the canucks just get rid of an ageing goalie with a big money contract :S.. well miller is only here for 3 years but still I think hiller would have been a better pick he is solid and the canucks arent going anywhere that having hiller instead of miller would cost them... I always pick vrbata up in the fantasy leagues for half a season and it's good to see him at the canucks, he is scoring well even though playing with the sedins make it pretty easy you've still got to be pretty competent to score regulary, errr after 3 games(he was good in the preseason too to be fair).. And it looks like daniel has just forgotten how to score, unless it is an empty net..
Overall good start to the season for the canucks even though they have just played the biggest donkeys in the west..

are you swedish ? the canucks have lack as back up goalie too , he was great playing back up to luongo but after they ade him number 1 halfway through his first nhl season the pressure cracked him big time, shame, I think with better management he could have been a pretty good nhl goalie, now I am worried last year ruined him, I was in the arena when he let in 7 in about 10 minutes v the islanders !.. he was rushed in too fast for sure and now the canucks have miller on the big money and 3 year contract....Quote:

I miss the old divisions as well. There were a lot better rivalries back then and the games meant more. And obviously you'd have more fights.
The Canes are on the road but they suck so bad right now....needing a win soon hopefully the Jets help us out.

trade rumours of eric staal going to toronto..... Sounds like something toronto would do, I'd go for it if I was the hurricanes, no offence but they dont seem to be going anywhere(much like the canucks) and staal isnt a crosby lie star and toronto would probably pay a pretty high price for him... If it's a good offer I'd send him on his way, you dont want to do a calgary and hold on to iginla for too long.
Don't know who I'd want from Toronto. Their draft picks maybe but other than that Kessel or shit I guess Phanuf would be ok for the Canes.
I think carolina would be able to extract a first round draft pick from the leafs a young talent(leafs must have something there !) and some middle of the road journeyman... would be a potentially good deal.
Kessel is a goal scoring machine, Kadri is decent, but Phaneuf is a bust I think. A few years back his fellow NHLers voted him as the #1 most overrated in the NHL.
Yeah the Canes need goals ASAP and Kessel would be a brilliant add, but that won't happen. Phanuef is a bust no doubt, he's got decent skills, but he is just meh....might play him on the wing on a more physical line but on D? Meh. Semin has been awful so far this season. Skinner has been hurt...the team is just rudderless right now and they have a lot of dead weight to get rid of.

Phaneuf would be bad for the hurricanes I think, he hits hard but I think he just isnt worth the money and years his contract has right now.... Better to swipe picks and prospects from toronto .. Toronto has insane media and fan pressure to win games and get to the playoffs(even if they do bugger all there), so I think toronto would be a greta victim to rob in a trade.. I also guess if eric staal leaves then jordan staal would leave too, as I'm pretty sure he only wanted to go there because of eric.. I'd trade em both, rob some desperate teams blind and rebuild for a fresh assualt on the cup in 5 years !
Yeah they need to shake things up and rebuild, they are Sabres shitty right now.

I'm so psyched, I get to use my new skates tonight! I've got them sharpened and although my game starts at 10:50 tonight I am still really excited about the new skates...well new/used really.
I wear a size 12 shoe I had been cramming my feet into size 9 1/2 CCM's and now I've got a nice pair of 11 1/2 Bauer's to try out.....luckily if they don't work out I'll only have wasted $30. But really my feet should feel a lot better playing tonight. With my old skates I felt like I had my feet bound like some Chinese woman from the 1800's...I would assume that these new skates will improve my game all around, but then again it's been so long since I've had new skates to try out so I don't even remember what it's like breaking them in.
Do they have a slo-mo version of ice hockey - I can never see the puck for long enough in ice hockey to properly figure out what's going on. It isn't really on TV over here either, so I mainly only get to watch during the winter olympics. There's not enough fighting to really make that the main part of the entertainment, and when there's three or four guys around the goal, its a case of waiting until the action replay to figure out what's happened.
There's not much fighting at all in Olympic hockey because it's not a penalty it's an immediate game misconduct which is not really the best option...plus the Olympic teams don't have goons for the most part as they are basically all star teams.
If you can get the NHL over there maybe you can try to catch the KHL or one of the leagues in Europe.
In the 90s they introduced a "puck trail" on one of the all star games for people who complained they they couldn't see the puck moving, it was kind of funny.Quote:

As for my beer league hockey...I've been busting my ass to make a difference but just can't seem to mesh with my teammates. I've only got 1 goal and 4 assists, but have been getting to play center more and that's nice. Granted my typical role on a hockey team is the enforcer but I like to grind and I like to be a power forward as well, but I'm not as good at those things because I grew up playing defense and doing nothing but hitting. I am most impressed with this stat though 0 .....those are my PIMs....which is MIGHTY impressive since I used to average (average mind you) 4 minutes a game (depending on the ref).

The best thing for them to do is sink to the bottom of the league and compete with Buffalo for the #1 draft pick. Seguin has been exploding ever since leaving Boston, that's got to be one of the worst trades in the last 15 years. They gave him away for next to nothing, after trading away a guaranteed 30+ goal scorer to get the pick to draft him. Brutal
