a better ref, no weight advantage and loma wins that fight. he is a decent fighter, needs to learn to complain to ref, go down and hold ya nuts when u hit low. too many rookie mitakes

Cole not only missed a few dozen low blows..... he also stood by while Loma almost pulled his own arms out of their shoulder sockets trying to extract himself from Salido's death grip.

Compare Mikey Garcia's performance against Salido and the fight tonight. Lomachenko's hands and feet weren't nearly as fast as Garcia's were against the same guy. Loma's supposedly special one of a kind attributes aren't that special after all.

Everytime I see Chavez jr it makes me go watch Chavez sr. vs Rosario or Haugen just to remind me what the name really means

It does not sit right. The guy blows weight and punches at least 20 times to the junk and in a sense is rewarded and will be in the future. Something is wrong with that.

Did Chavez at least make weight this time.

What weight did Loma fight at last time out? He boiled down to feather for this fight. Size difference was irrlelevant.

I never said Cole won it for him. I said the entire ordeal leaves a bad taste. A bad taste because Salido will most likely get a title shot because of it and Loma will be burned at the stake like he is already.

Maybe a rematch yeh? I don't think he is being burned, just called on what unfolded. He took the fight and was afforded the 'oppurtunity' and talked himself into it. No going back now. A bright spot is rounds 11,12 were his best. He finally settled and closed

This ref is starting to interfere to much. Its like he's getting ready to jump in anytime Vera might get to something on the inside.

Chavez is such a prick. I'd just love to see him fight Ward.

Chavez managed to go 1-1 with an ESPN fighter. If he ever fights anybody world class who is remotely his own weight he'll get humiliated.

Chavez won this but I'd laugh if he lost or caused a draw because of the 12th.

Chavez is clearly ready for Willie Edwards.

I'll be suprised if this kid doesn't end his career eating his 2 am bowls of cereal through a straw.

Chavez won. No doubt about it. I like Vera a lot and gave him 4 rounds.


He was never down (almost in the 12th on a balance shot) and he was bringing it the whole time.

Good fight.


Salido pulled the shit, but he deserved the win. He simply won more rounds while Lomachenko was clinching.


Lomachenko was all class though, NEVER complained once about repeated low blows, made excuses or complained about the decision.

I would disagree. No matter how good the amateur they still need to adapt to the 'new' sport. In the UK it is like a top class Rugby League player moving over to Rugby Union. The player maybe top notch but they will need time to learn new strategies, plays, positions and also new training methods.


Even the very best amateurs and Lomanchenko is such, need time to bed in. Maybe not tons of time, but still a bit. Look at Ray Leonard or De La Hoya, top class amateurs they still took a year/18 months to adapt, and they did not turn out too bad.


And this is not hindsight, I wrote this down in the thread before the fight. The only example we have of a top amateur fighting the best from fight one is Rademacher, and that did not turn out so well. I hope Lomanchenko's management reflect on this, before deciding what to do next, before it is too late.

and yes he probably should have had a few fights before taking on salido but lets not shit on the guy and call him a hypejob cause he lost to a legit dude who beats everyone but the very elite as of late...and hell loma didnt make excuses for it bu he did fight a welter tonight, comend the guy for going for it and hopfully now he can have his five or six bumfights and come back stronger.

I was impressed by the way Lomachenko finished the fight. If he started more agressive he'd have probably won. The plan backfired but he more than showed with experience he has the potential to become a top pro.

Needs to stop holding. Needs to learn to pace the fight right. Needs to learn that when you get smacked in the nuts 200 times a round it's in your best interests to make the ref aware of it. Especially when the ref is as blind and pathetic as Laurence Cole.

In other words needs a year or so of fighting half dozen good fighters, where he can 'learn his trade' before taking on the cream of the division...

I give big respect to Lomanchenko. In a sport where young guys are afraid to take risks in fear of failing and falling into obscurity, he jumped into the deep end right away with a complete monster in Salido, who had a huge size advantage.

Obviously he had a lot of problems with Salido and there's obviously still that awkward adjusting period he needs to go through to become a legit pro, but he fought well, made a relatively close fight out of it and made no excuses. So good for him. I wish more guys were like him and took huge risks in this sport.

Just watched re air. He can clearly take stock in his late surge and obvious quality stamina. But I gotta say because it was all the rage..Lampley was absolutley out of line bringing Coles fathers name into it and was his normal biased ass self. The holding..Loma was literally a clinging ragdoll in 9,10 and took 4 warnings for it, as Salido took 3 for LB. Both were ugly, it was a tough fight but that 12th round was great for Loma. Quality hands that looked natural. One thing that was telling was his inability to get into a clinch and get out of a clinch 'clean'...if that even makes sense?! He pulls out like he is avoiding some zombie hoard, arms extended, flailing and jerking his shoulders. Bit spaztic. HBOs attempt at CYA and cleaning the network shop was pathetic though. If they railed on the network stars as much as a guy brought in to lose..we may start to see some real change and consequence with the rash of guys blowing weight.
