Thurman's footspeed/handspeed/athleticism seriously impressive.

That was huge for the career of both guys although you hope Molina is OK after all that.
The real loser is Thurman. How the fuck do you follow that?
I'm not much of a wagon jumper but I'm jumping onto Molina's after that performance and class interview. I doubt we've heard the last of him. Hard to believe Lucas outweighed him by 4 pounds tonight.
Molina looked huge didn't he.

That was a great left by Thurman. Lighting fast.

Thurman is still there for that chopping right Over the top when he feints

He is way to concentrated on this KO tag and setting one & done traps

Well that was a little anticlimactic.

Al Haymon got thanked before God.

Re: Showtime Fight Night: Thurman vs Diaz ~ Matthysse vs Molina
Well, hell! A big let down.

I hope Thurman's knockouts don't affect his approach in every fight.
He should be intelligent enough to know that he will not be able to knock every opponent out as his competition level increases.

:musle: Thurman reminds me of a guy who use to watch a bunch of karate movies on a Sunday morning and emulating nunchuck skills in the mirror. Props for calling out Porter yeh

I hope the Brook fight comes off w/o a hitch.

Probably on the Alvarez-Lara undercard. I don't see them getting matched straight away though even if it's just one of them is a Floyd dance partner.

Yeah. I think Brook/Porter will go to purse bid and Porter will get a boat load going to England. I think Brook has the skills but not sure on the stones. It would be interesting though if GB won the purse bid. Brook would have to cut that cord.

Arum just said fuck it we'll do Burns-Crawford where it makes most money. Schaefer is saying the same about Porter-Brook but everybody thinks it ends up in the States for some reason. It could definitely sell 10 000 tickets in England. Depends how much Showtime come up with and how much GBP are willing to subsidise. Probably a PPV card covers the subsidy.

True. I think that Hearn has a suspicion that if they dont get this via purse bid that the client might back out again. However perhaps GB knows that and would rather have Porter fight in house or milk him a little with another opponent. So they throw a massive bid in thinking Special Kase might injure himself a day or two before the fight.
118-110...........
Belmontes did it to himself, show boating, failing to engage, in other words fighting stupid. It was right there for him if he had just fought like he wanted it more.
There is no doubt Belmontes is the better boxer with faster hands and positioning, but he has to realize this is the pros and the judges want to see you fighting every minute, especially in a fight where a belt is on the line. He screwed himself.

Re: Showtime Fight Night: Thurman vs Diaz ~ Matthysse vs Molina
Just caught the matthysse molina fight as i had a wedding to attend, holy shit, props to both, but dam matthysse once he gets the engine going is insane...

Re: Showtime Fight Night: Thurman vs Diaz ~ Matthysse vs Molina
I didn't even realize this was the same Molina who was blasted out in a round against Demarco a while back!! How the hell did that happen is what I'm wondering...

Thought it was early at time but he really left ref no choice when trapped in corner, he should have taken a knee, maybe ref rule a KD. Ironically it was Lopez being punched silly in the back/top of the head cause its all DeMarco could get to.

Demarco's KO of moliba wasnt even legit yet people made too much out of that fight. People made moliba out to be some glasschinned brawler who got wrecked but the truth is, he got caught cold got bombed on while trapped against the ropes..
It was one of those situations where a fighter got sent to the ropes after getting buzzed, then demarco started throwing quick flurries to force a stoppage.. molina wasnt even hurt..
Think of Calzaghe-Manfredo...
Demarco-molina was early stoppage..

Re: Showtime Fight Night: Thurman vs Diaz ~ Matthysse vs Molina
I'm sure he just got caught cold and all, but considering the punches he was taking from Lucas last night it's hard to believe that's the same guy.

Re: Showtime Fight Night: Thurman vs Diaz ~ Matthysse vs Molina
Watched the recording earlier today. Matthysse - Molina was a barnstormer of a fight, Great Sunday morning entertainment and both guys take a lot of credit for maintaining that kind of intensity for so many rounds. Spicoli was right when he said "who needs the HW's ?" Compare that to last nights HW mismatch and it's like chalk and cheese. Molina may have been the underdog but he sure as hell didn't fight like one. Although I am glad Lucas won I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for Molinas next scrap.
Thurman did what he had to but he is all out of short nights and will have to really test his mettle next time. Who knows he may be the real deal but something tells me he may have to take a setback in order to fully realise his potential.

Chalk and cheese ;D I was thinking the same about Thurman. A real likable, exciting guy but think he needs to really get his head out of the clouds, and air. Fights so tight and wired he lets himself be touched with junk punches while in tunnel vision on some perfect highlight reel shot.. that can catch up in a hurry.

Re: Showtime Fight Night: Thurman vs Diaz ~ Matthysse vs Molina
Fantastic performance by both Matthysse and Molina. Especially Molina who was moving up ;) I think Molina should stay at 140 :) a return with Lundy should be on the cards. After that performance Molina desreves a shot at another big fight ;D
