Re: Previously...on LOST!
Don't worry guys,I donwloaded the episdoe, was like the 50,000 plus person to download it!!
I would just like to thank you two for opening my eyes to,honestly, the greatest tv programme I have ever seen in my life,it is fooking amazing!!
On to the episode, you guys pointed out pretty much everything I wanted to say,Ouma, when Jack opened that door where that water came from,I honestyl thought I heard some sort of beast! Also, didn't you guys feel for Kate,I don't think I've ever seen her scared before(and she looked fooking nice too!)
I don't know if anyone picked up on it,it's minor point but Ben(him I guess, the leader?)is married to that woman that was trying to give Jack food(I think),just a small point.
So what is going to happen guys? I have tooooo many questions! I mean these others are farrrrrrr too comfortable,I mean was it me or where they having a book review club?
Also, what was that about at the end, when Ben says to that woman(juliette) or whatever her name is,well done? For what? Are they trying to win Jack's trust?
What was Ben alluding to when he said to Kate that the next 2 weeks would be unpleasant and what happens after those 2 weeks? Is she released?
Finally, why the hell did Ben,the leader I#m guessing go to the Jack's camp? I mean did he get caught but that french lady on purpose? Wasn't that risky?
Oh and one more thing,HOW THE HECK DO THEY KNOW EEEEEEVVVVVVRRRRYYYYTTTHHHINNGG about Jack? I mean they know if his wife is happy!! What the heck? Maybe someone who knows him informed them?
Hollllaaaaaarrrrrr!!!

Seems like there's obviously something between them, I would supsect they were married.

True but at the same time they almost seemed ready for something to happen. How Ben was looking up at the sky before the plane ever came near, and then right after it broke up the way he gave orders, and the way the two guys took them, was almost military like. Put it this way, they definitely weren't paralyzed with indecision.
yeah, just trying to break him down, the way she got him to submit and face the wall. The way she got him to stop being so angry.
What was Ben alluding to when he said to Kate that the next 2 weeks would be unpleasant and what happens after those 2 weeks? Is she released?
Experiments on her? I don't know, that's what I was thinking. Or maybe some kind of forced interrogation but they didn't torture Jack so maybe not.
Finally, why the hell did Ben,the leader I#m guessing go to the Jack's camp? I mean did he get caught but that french lady on purpose? Wasn't that risky?

I'm not sure, gonna have to think about that.

I just think she was talking shit when she said his wife was happy. How could they really know that? I think they knew some things about him, the basics, where he went to college, worked, that kind of stuff, because its pretty obvious they have some kind of connection with the outside world, the food pallet, the CD's at the beginning of this episode, but that she also touched it up and told him what he wanted to hear.

Damn. I bet that was one of the most impossidble to stream vids huh? I logged on to 4 different LOST boards & never made it to the other side. Those fwocks were putting it through the ringer.

Ever feel corny in the middle of an episode when you get all mushy or feely over these guys?

This, IWO, goes back to the DeGroots & the intiative....least I think that it does...anywho...that's who I think that they are or that they were part of the Dharma experiment. The Utopia deal that they were trying to set up. Yeah...Henry (Ben) & Juliette were most likely lovers or some shit.

I think that things just got mega MEGA complicated...but they are only gonna get worse as Desmonds wife is going to come hunting & where Penny Widmore goes...daddy Widmore will have to come in to the picture & he's one evil dude that is deeply rooted to the Initiative.

Yep. Juliette is supposed to be one of the Others with a heart. She's supposed to hook up wif ole's jack from what I understand.

Pretty sure theyr'e gonna hammer Kate for some serious answers & then most likely the experimentation will start...hence...a very set of unpleasant days.

Re: Previously...on LOST!
Nice analysis guys. I don't know if you saw it BUT at a press conference a while ago(my friend told me) the Lost producers let slip something about an element of time??
I can't remember precisely what was said but thinking about it,how would it be relevant? I think you have touched upon it too Wack earlier in this thread and when I went back to watch some episodes,I noticed it got dark real quick? Perfect example, the episode in which Ana Lucia wants to kill Henry Gale(Ben),by the time they got to the hatch,it was dark, but when orignally when they realised Anna Lucia had the gun,it was VERY light>?? ??? I also noticed other little things like that too,if you get time, watch episodes from season 2,you'll see it(or maybe I've gone mad?!)
HahahamWack,I think you need to rest my man! Yeah,as embaressing as it is,I find myself attached to the characters sometimes, that part with Kate in the new episode was really sad.
Also, the copy I had Wack, was PERFECT quality!! It was no stream,it was a torrent,a full download of the whole episode1
What kinf of experiments are they going to do? I mean they know everything there is to know about Jack,Sawyer and Kate so what the heck else do they want to know? I just don't understand that experiment part and nor do I understand what was so special about Walt,I wonder if we will ever find out?

Walt's a biggie, IWO.
Back in the first season...or maybe it was the start of the second season...can't remember exactly...Walt was reading about a Polar Bear in the comic...& it appeared...he caused a bird to do some wacky shit back in the real world & he seems to be able to bounce around in time or some shit...not exactly sure what's what with Walt...but he aint normal...& the others know that...they already wroked Walt over IWO...& even though they put him & Michael in that boat...they'll end up back on the dirt some time this season...
Wait & see. ;D

Re: Previously...on LOST!
I think that maybe you (Ouma) & I discussed this before...but NBC's new Sci-Fi/Comic Book/Drama that's called Heroes is amazing.
Watch it! Comes on Monday nights at 9ish.
3rd episode was tonight & they just get better. Really really really good.

Re: Previously...on LOST!
Good I was hoping she'd shoot her.
Is that wrong of me ;D
Not the enemy my ass, the guy shot right at her right when she got up on top of the boat.
But they got the boat
Nice episode so far

Re: Previously...on LOST!
And the dude who was with Sun, murdered or suicide?
The pearls are interesting, cause we don't really know if Sun ever took them, at least i missed it if she didn't. Did one of Sun's dad people kill him, did he jump with the pearls. Did Sun kill him, that's a bit of a leap

I'm really chuffed,I nailed that one,I knew Sun had sex with the baldie from the beginning and it only became more evident when she said she was pregnant, she did not look happy or as happy as she should have done!
Excellent point Ouma, did he give her the pearls or not? You think Ben was being serious when he said that he had been on the island his whole life? Saywer was the fooking man in this episode,I mean kissing Kate, kicking ass and making jokes!
I was surprised that the Others did not know the group had the boat! Finally something that did NOT go to plan!
Also,I wonder how the are going to react to Sun killing one of their most important people? I say she was important because of the fact that Ben called her first, she seemed to be issuing commands too.
One thing though, when they said to Kate the next 2 weeks were not going to be pleasant, was that because of the mining she is going to have to do?!!
Excellent epsiode in my opinion but still no news on the rest of the group??!
Hey guys, you remember at the end of season 2,the big blast and Charlie coming back and acting all weird after the hole got blown uo when Desmond reset the system or whatever,I think that is something to do with the time element? He was acting weird, and asked whether the others(Locke,Ecko,Desmond)had returned, how long a time period passed? I don't know,I have noticed a lot of things like this, different time zones? There is definitely something!!

Well we don't know for sure that the girl Sun shot is dead, she did shoot her in like the side of the stomach. And they at least had doctors for the whole claire thing and when they found that hatch.
Definitely does put her into a bit of a different light.
I thought it was very good, from the previews it seems like next weekend a lot will be about Locke and all the rest.
As for the time element, I hadn't thought about that untill you mentioned the producers saying something about it. I'd have to check the season finale again, what I do remember is just Charlie acting odd.
Something I heard is that one of the producers said that something will happen in the last episode before the break that people will think is kind of "jumping the shark" but which will make sense later. Who knows.

Can you elaborate on that shark part please? I don't quite understand what you mean. Yeah definitely check out the time element but not just that, there are a few other episodes where you notice it too.
True,we don't know whether that woman is dead but I wonder whether it will change the attitudes of the Others towards the groups, make them slightly more hardened?
Also, thinking about it,Ben,when he was captured by Russo was coming to get John right? So how important must John be if the presumed leader of the Others was coming PERSONALLY to get him?!(on a sidenote,Ben is one of my new fave characters, there's something eery, mysterious about him1)
Fill me in on the preview please, the copy I have does not include previews of the next episode.

Re: Previously...on LOST!
Oh jumping the shark is just a figure of speech about teleision shows. I think it started cause of the show Happy Days, it had gone on for too many seasons and one episode had them like doing some kind of team water skiing in some lake and all of a sudden a shark pops on on the surface and they jump it while waterskiing (I have no idea dude, I never saw it, generally that's what happened. And people thought it was stupid, that the show had gone off the deep end, lost its way. So that's become kind of a figure speech for TV shows that get kind of stupid, lose their way, go over the top, whatever.

Ha, I guess that was a bit of a confused description. okay, if it turned out that Sawyer was really an alien who was just there to steal meds from the plane in order to save his people that would be jumping the shark. Albeit in a really really extreme way.

Honestly...that is/was the gayest thing that I had ever seen on television...the Fonz got F'd in the A on that one...because outside of that stupid jacket & the thumbs up "Eeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" deal...well...that was the gayest thing that anyone had ever seen on television.
Heh heh heh.
Back to LOST.
While I am excited to finally see what end of the tube the bwoy's got out of...I really REALLY want to know just WTF Henry Gale/Ben has in store for Jack.

What was written on the stick?

Sorry about the flood babe.
Locke is mute.
Get's his voice back through a vision quest type deal.
Locke goes on the hunt for Ecko.
They run into the fat guy. ;D
They are on the run from another polar bear.
Now Locke's tracking it.
That's about it babe...

Re: Previously...on LOST!
What was the deal with John and what's his name that died first season, Boone, seemed like some kind of vision but I couldn't really pay attention.
The Hatch is gone, don't really mind, i got a bit tired of them sitting around in there.
Thank god that Abc.com will replay this tomorrow cause I have to watch it again.

I pretty much dug the Hatch & all the mythos about it.
Kinda wish it were still around...but there are plenty more to go around the Island.
I'm glad they got Ecko back & what not...& I suppose it's pretty cool that Desmond can either see the future or read minds...but I can't wait to get back to the Other's camp & find out what's up with & who they really REALLY are & what they really REALLY are all about.
-
Re: Previously...on LOST!
This was more like Locke in the first season instead of the one that mainly just sat around in the hatch last season. I didn't mind the hatch but I think going back to the island is more like season 1 which I liked better than Season 2. Its not like Season 2 wasn't about the island but it was so hatch oriented. Loved both seasons (and this one so far) but the first season was so good.
Odd stuff in this episode, Desmond seeing the future kind of, Ecko's talk with John.
Were they trying to introduce two new characters there at the end?
-
Re: Previously...on LOST!
So who gets killed off this year?
Not saying its inevitable that somebody gets killed off but there have been at least one a season so far.
To me Jack, Locke, and Kate are pretty much untouchables. Saywer might be in that group. But I guess they could go for the shock value with one of those, all though it pretty much certainly wouldn't be Jack. Probably wouldn't be any of those.
-

;D I just stumbled onto this, I don't even know what to say. I really like the show but this is SERIOUS, I mean its like a freaking research paper, its even got citations. ;D

What a fricking weird episode?! AGain, what the F is this island?! Also,do you guys think the Others know about these types of things ie the visions etc etc?
Maybe the time element came into play, with Charlie saying John was only gone for a day,Hurley having that deja vu and doing the weird facial expressions and Desmond thinking he had seen John's speech before?
Also,Boone's anaylsis,(I'm so watching that part again),saying Desmond will help himself,John will help Sawyer,Kate Jack but not yet? I'm going to watch that again!!
I thought Ecko died for a sec, when John tried to give him water! Who is going to help his injuries? I think we are going to see a mixture of season 1 and 2 John,1-true belief in the island,2-lack of belief,3-reluctant possibly even forced belief,he NEEDS direction?
I personally loved the hatch,I mean a fricking hatch with a machine and a button you must press or the whole world will end etc? That was awesome and I LOVE those Dharma Initiative videos! Something strange about them.
I agree Oumafan,I think they are trying to introduce that man and woman at the end but I really hope not,I like the group as it is,there is no need for more characters especially as we are also learning about the Others? Maybe things may become too convoluted?
As for who gets killed off,I definitely think someone will and I believe the producers don't care if it's a main character but you are right, the 3 you mentioned are safe,i'd think Desmond or Echo?
Is it me or has Charlie become an anoying little prick> His smart ass remarks, smugness etc etc He annoys the ehck out of me,I hope John whoops that ass again!
I thought it was a great epsiode, really weird although if I had to pick a criticism,I did not think John's flashbacks were that insightful? Maybe I missed something?
Finally(sorry for the long ass post guys but you're the only ones I can discuss this with as my friends want to wait until next year, when it comes on in the UK to see it),you guys think that there maybe drugs in the air or something which allows John to see his visions,Charlie to have those hallucinations about the baby etc? Maybe that is what those injections which were in the hatch are for,to protect one from the hallucinations? Remember,Inmann wore that suit and only took it off because he was about to leave? I don't know,my mind just keeps ticking over about this dam programme!

'Lost' Findings
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/comment...4_3_0_,00.html
EW senior writer Jeff Jensen solves the show! (Or so he thinks...) Disagree with him? Then post your own best guesses about the hatch, the Dharma Initiative, and other mysteries
Every month EW will turn to our shadowy operative inside the world of Lost for insight. Burn this when you're done. The truth is out there.
1. THE ISLAND: It's Alive!
Our theory of Lost begins with the question posed in the pilot by smack-addled rocker Charlie: ''Guys...where are we?'' Some have argued that the island could be a hallucination — ''A Psychological Shipwreck,'' to use the title of an 1879 short story by Lost-linked author Ambrose Bierce. Or an alien twilight zone. It's tempting to go with ''limbo'' — an elastic enough idea to corral the show's incredible coincidences and odd details, like a smoke monster and a band of child-swiping Others. But we believe the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 aren't stuck in a mass delusion or a satanic mousetrap. They're alive on the island. A haunted island. And it was made that way by the Dharma Initiative.
2. THE DHARMA INITIATIVE: Head Games
What we know about Dharma is incomplete at best, utterly bogus at worst. According to a choppy ''orientation film'' found in the hatch, Dharma founders Gerald and Karen DeGroot established a research facility on the island in the 1970s to conduct experiments in meteorology, zoology, electromagnetism, psychology, and parapsychology — a dubious science that believes the brain houses mind-over-matter powers. (Think X-Men, Jedi Knights, and sci-fi author Robert Heinlein, whose 1941 short story Lost Legacy is about kids realizing their psychic potential under the tutelage of — COINCIDENCE ALERT! — Ambrose Bierce.) Our theory is that intentionally or not, the Dharma team pulled loose psychic powers from one of its test subjects — skip to No. 5 for the answer about who that might be — with disastrous results. How? With fear. Where? Where else, down in...
3. THE HATCH: Human Testing
The orientation film claims the hatch was originally used to study the island's ''unique'' electromagnetic energy. And indeed, there is a curious wall that seems to be humming with the stuff. But the filmstrip also states that the DeGroots were following B.F. Skinner, a psychologist famous for his Skinner boxes: controlled environments used to study animal behavior. Folks, the hatch is a human Skinner box.
Why wasn't this mentioned in the orientation film? Because the orientation film is part of the experiment! The film was fiction, designed to induce paranoia and fear and observe the test subject's reaction. What Dharma was studying was the behavior every Lost fanatic engages in: the human imperative to organize seemingly random details into some kind of order. The problem is that someone — someone we haven't seen or met yet — was put in the hatch and had a psychic break of world-altering proportions.
4. THE NUMBERS: Those Damn Yankees!
It has been Lost's most baffling conundrum: the seemingly inexplicable connection between Hurley's havoc-causing Lotto picks — 4 8 15 16 23 42 — and the hatch's computer code. This is a two-part riddle. First, the original purpose of the numbers: Skinner box experiments require test subjects to execute empty tasks, like pulling levers or, say, inputting digits into a computer. The Dharma-ites chose the sequence because...they were big Yankee fans, and each number correlates to a retired Yankee jersey. But the second question is far more important: What purpose do the numbers serve now? There are lots of out-there (and fun) ways to go with this, but the truth is that the numbers don't do anything. The ''cursed'' digits are just one more sinister detail in Dharma's elaborate sleight of hand intended to freak out test subjects. The problem was that extreme stress on the subject in the hatch combined with the electromagnetic energy down there to jar loose some suppressed psychic powers. And it jarred them loose in the wrong individual. In that explosive moment, the once meaningless digits were encoded with devilish life. Hence, Hurley's bad luck, and a virus that is rewriting reality on the island.
5. THE ANSWER TO 'LOST': The Island Is Haunted by a Powerful Psychic
The Dharma experiments resulted in the creation of a potent disembodied being. A being deeply steeped in pop culture — think about all the novels, comic books, and random flotsam that make up the DNA of Lost — and powerful enough to bring those bits of pop culture to life. Someone who imprinted his consciousness on the island. Someone whose radioactive corpse was walled up in the hatch. Someone named Aaron.
So how did the Oceanic crew end up on the island? Aaron summoned them, because he has as-yet-undetermined uses for each of them...and he needed a new body. The body of a then-unborn baby. Claire's baby. Which is why the Others (Aaron's followers) have tried to kidnap her child. And why they had to snatch poor, psychic Walt — remember that dead bird from season 1? — who was the only one with the ability to see through their plan.
Of course, the castaways could all be dead. It could be a mass hallucination. The Others could be trying to secure franchise rights to the Twilight Zone Dairy Queen. But this is our story, and we're sticking to it. At least until the start of the next episode.

Re: Previously...on LOST!
CC wacko, nice theories although I don't think any of them are remotely close! Didn't you guys see the latest episode? What did you think? I thought it was really interesting! I think something has happened to Desmond since the Hatch imploded! Maybe the sound blas thing did something to him,I mean he was running around naked! Seeing the state of the hole formerly known as the hatch, how the heck did he survive? He should have been the first to die! Also,I cannot believe there are 2 fricking islands! WTF1!!!!
I think I agree with you Wack,Ben is my fave character! He is mysterious,so calm even when Sawyer wacked him yet when he needed to teach Sawyer a lesson,he gave him a beat down with that batton! Also, remember when Jack saw the X rays and said it was a 40 year old man's spine with a tumour,I think it is either a test for Jack because they know he was a spine surgeon OR I think it is Ben's spine,I just have a feeling! I alos loved the ticker idea! That taught him and it was sad seeing Sawyer cry,I mean he was REALLY scared and I think Kate is the only person he REALLY cares for. Also,it was a surprise that he has daughter!
Hmmm,oh and I think the Others have too much dissension within their ranks and this will surely spill over sooner or later. You can already see the splits, and to me it seems Ben thinks everyone is disposable, even Julia, whom I believe will end up falling for Jack.
Anything else? Come on you bunch of homosexual grape eaters, lets discuss this shat!! I want to hear theories!
Also, just a side note,Wack,I believe you are 100000% correct that daddy Widmore is invloved in the isnald. I think he knew Desmond was going to end up on the island, never to see his daughter again. She somehow managed to squeeze out info from him about where the island is and hey presto, those 2 foreign guys who found the electrmagnetic anomaly at the end of season 2. Also, somewhere,I think on the back of the card Desmond showed to Libby with a pic of the boat rose,it says Widmore's name adn it said,"philanthropist" meaning lover of humans,IE Dharma initiative style? I made all this up but pretty interesting nope? ;D

Re: Previously...on LOST!
I'm gonna rewatch the last episode, my initial thought was it wasn't one of my favorite episodes, probably my least favorite of the year, but that doesn't mean it was bad, just the other ones were real good.
I was glad the whole pacemaker shit was just a mind game cause I thought that was a little over the top. And the whole beating up Saywer till Kate said she loved him, I don't know.
But the ending was interesting.
Just a thought, I was out of town the last couple days and saw my nephew for the first time in like two years. He's 13 now and its amazing how different he looked than the last time I saw him. (yes I know this sounds odd but bear with me) My point is the people are supposed to have been on the island for like 70 days right? But its about three years since they started filming. You can hide aging among older people but I suspect Walt's look has changed even from the last time we saw him. You can't hide it as well among kids of that age, 11 to 12 year old kids look a lot different than 14-15 year olds. So will they just say fuck it, suspension of disbelief, we know he looks a lot different even though he's only supposed to have aged 70 days, just deal with it cause he's important to the story? Cause its just gonna get more and more noticeable as the seasons go on (assuming he continues to be a character)

maybe going over the top/jumping the shark is a bit harsh but I haven't been real happy with this season so far.
