Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders purses and prize money for world title fight
Alvarez will earn the bulk of the purse but Saunders will still leave Dallas with a big pay day regardless of the result tonight
Canelo Alvarez is expected to earn $35million (£25m) from his unification clash with Billy Joe Saunders with the Brit banking $7m (£5m).
The two super-middleweight world champions have long been on a collision course with the coronavirus crisis postponing their fight for 12 months.
In that time, Alvarez recorded victories over Callum Smith and Avni Yildirim while Saunders outpointed Martin Murray.
And tonight's winner will move a step closer to becoming the undisputed champion at 168lb with three of the four belts on the line at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
The victor will then likely take on the other remaining champion Caleb Plant in an undisputed clash in September.
Both Alvarez and Saunders are reliant on the performance of the pay-per-view sales to boost their purses - and this week's antics will have done neither man any harm.
Alvarez is believed to be guaranteed a purse of $15m rising to $35m while Saunders will definitely earn $3.5m, a figure which could double.

But even if Saunders pulls of the upset, he doesn't expect any credit.
"If I go in there and do what I think I can do, I can get the job done," he said.
"Beyond that, I’m not really worried about people giving me credit, I’m doing this for myself.
"I’ve done everything in boxing from southern area titles all the way to being a two-weight world champion. Thirty fights, 30 wins, so I’ve ticked all the boxes coming through.
"Even when I was coming through and fighting the likes of your John Ryders, your Chris Eubank Juniors, your Andy Lees, I feel I didn’t get enough credit.

Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Ali and Foreman gave us the “Rumble in the Jungle.” Trinidad vs Vargas was aptly named “Forces of Destruction.” Ali was also involved in “The Fight of the Century” (Frazier I), and “Thrilla in Manila”
(Frazier III). Leonard and Duran lived up to “The Brawl in Montreal” in their first fight.
So in the tradition of nicknames for upcoming fights with lots of fanfare... I humbly submit my own entry for the Canelo-Saunders fight:
"The Foregone Conclusion"

Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Canelo wins on a combination of body shots and a KO in round 10-11.

Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
I might catch an hour's kip before but I've got my alarm set for 1am, I wanna pull an all nighter tonight

Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
I expect a Canelo win by KO in round 8 or 9?
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
I think with the big ring alvarez will struggle to catch Saunders so it'll go 12.
Aguilera looks like he wants out... Big frank isn't a future world champ though.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
what the **** Aguilera is rolling around like a premiership footballer after a legal punch that cuffed him on the back of his head.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Christina Jr stopped and complained to the ref early on too and took a whack during it... Bad work by frank there he should have had him out with the free punch.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
What was it Aguilera went with for the reason to end the fight, seemed like he was complaining about the shoulder and back of the head :S
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
I believe Aguilera legit hurt his shoulder.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Didn't see that coming. Conway caught him coasting.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Conway and cissokho really don't look in the same weight class
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Judges on a bender early tonight. Right guy but Conway should be kicking himself for not pouncing.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Canelo or not surprised they're serving this up as co-maim. Pretty brisk card
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
This looks like quite a mismatch early on :S
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
This looks like a tall child v a short man.

Had to do a double take on paper. Soto just timing him out nothing coming back. Eddie and company must hate kittens too :-X
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
The little jap has held up well he's fighting back at least, Soto looks way thicker and more damaging though. Jimeny Christmas the japs are brave but quite masochistic....
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
I thought takeyama did pretty good on the fourth round, there's a big power difference though.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Takayama had the decent jazz hands working end of last round. Soto trying to Lemieux this.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
;D;D Career Strawweight from Japan with the off brand Ali shuffle. Ok that alone was worth it. Soto is losing the masses
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Japs are too tough and brave for their own good sometimes
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Soto just needs to stop smirking and put his power together already. Giving Takayama too much life. He stiffens the poor dude when he clips him clean but one and done
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Fucking loving this little Jap, he's like a fucking weeble, he wobbles but he just won't go down...yet anyway
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Believe Fred Sanford said it best..you're fighting like a dummy son. Wow Cole ffs. Guy was getting whipped but making his own way
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Early stoppage but the little git was overpowered and outmatched, strange decision though but he was risking brain damage.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Fucking ridiculous stoppage, the Jap was enjoying getting repeatedly punched in the face then
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Was there ever any doubt that Laurence Cole is the forever arsehole of refs.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Evening everybody.
I just got in and missed everything up to now. All I got was a few seconds of the Jap throwing punches and Cole stepping in in a replay. Was it as bad as that?
Amazed Cole didn't get the main gig in Texas. They must have found somebody even worse for the main event.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Oh someone gave fury a bit of a black eye... The sparring gossip mongers have been slacking.

Early on the jap was taking a beating and looked like it could be over very quick, it stablised after that bit there was a big power difference between the too... A strange stoppage as the jap was still throwing and not drunk bit in reality he wasn't winning anyway and the ref saved him some damage... But yes early stoppage and odd

Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
I’m up and ready to go.
Need to get rid of these national anthems.
Waited many years for this fight.
Let’s see how good BJS really is!
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
The American anthem has become terrible, it's just so weirdly sung and different each time, I think you Americans should ban it....
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
BJS looks nervous, complete froze on the ringwalk, ;D;D
