He is certainly a bit shop worn. Dodgy elbow, ankle and his stamina just isn't going to compete with someone like Usyk not waiting around to be hit. Not so much scared as thinking he can maintain what he thinks is a legacy with the least amount of risk. It is his lack of class in all this that stinks most. All this fighting man bullshit and wanting everyone to respect his 'mental health issues' and then treating Usyk as though he were a bum, calling him a buck tooth pussy and the cringy sight of him getting his entire camp/gym to join in. Especially when you see him crawl up Del boy's arse. Has to be a genuine uncertainty there. I know it was 10 years ago but Cunningham outboxed him before being sparked and Usyk is much better, bigger and durable than Cunningham.
Same with Joshua. Even with all his woodeness he is a decent boxer, and a great finisher, more than capable of stopping a less than 100% Fury.
Fury the guy who one minute does not consider himself English, and then the next minute he is tucking his England shirt into his old man trousers. What a muppet.

Re: What should Usyk do next?
Former WBC champion Wilder, 37, has thrown his name into the hat for a mega-fight with the WBA, IBF and WBO champion.
His manager Shelly Finkel told Sky Sports: “If the Oleksandr Usyk fight is available, Deontay Wilder will take it in a heartbeat.”
Wilder is a promotional free agent currently and knocked out Robert Helenius, 38, in round one of his October comeback fight.

Re: What should Usyk do next?
The fight is off Warren just said on the radio.
It was simply about the percentage of the rematch clause should Usyk win. He wanted more than 50% which is right since he was taking the lower figure for the first match and if he wins he should get the lions share.
Absolute shame.
"From our perspective, the undisputed heavyweight championship fight remains our highest priority," he added. "We will comply with our obligations with the mandatories and then work hard to make it happen. Whoever is the temporary holder of the WBC belt that is pending in Usyk's collection is not an issue. The issue is the belt and the unfortunate thing is at this moment, Tyson Fury holds it."

Fucking hell! Last week Fury didn’t even want a rematch clause. Now he wants the lions share if he loses.
If this was Joshua, he would get absolutely vilified! Let’s see what they say about Fury. Quack quack.

A frustrated Fury took to Instagram on Thursday to say: "Uysk, you proper little s***bag, bog-eyed, gappy-teethed, ugly little rat b*****d

Usyk, 36, will probably now defend his titles against mandatory WBA title challenger Daniel Dubois in a fight Fury was quick to mock.
He added: "You little ugly b*****d, keep running. Fight Dubois at the Copper Box, s**t bag.

Re: What should Usyk do next?
Terrible look for Fury. He has only one belt and Usyk has the others, which really should put Usyk as the A side.
However, economics rule and Fury is the guy who would sell more tickets at a UK venue. So Usyk accepts 30%.
Anybody who is a reigning champ who accepts 30% really really wants the fight. Fair enough, were he to win, then there is no way he should swallow the short end of the purse in a rematch.
Then we have this classless rant on social media from Fury, and just silence from Usyk.
Only one guy is behaving professionally here, and it does seem Fury is a nightmare to deal with when agreeing fights.
The outcome is that it is Fury’s fault the fight has been binned

Re: What should Usyk do next?
It has now emerged Fury would have refused to pay the £1m donation to Ukraine which Usyk included as a caveat to his acceptance of the lopsided purse split. Promoter Frank Warren has said he or Alexander Krassyuk, who is in charge of the unified champion's career, would have instead paid the fee, with Fury opting not to get involved in politics.
"We dealt with that on the Sunday," Warren told IFL TV of the donation. "Tyson doesn't want to get into political situations, but I said 'I'll have a bet with [Krassyuk] and the loser puts the million in. So, no problem, we had dealt with it no problem and that was out of the way.
"The only outstanding issue was [the rematch clause].

Re: What should Usyk do next?
Fury demanded that he received a 70 per cent lion's share of the prize pot for their first fight which was reluctantly accepted by Usyk on the understanding that the purse split would be reversed in the rematch if he won their inaugural encounter.
However, according to boxing insider Mike Coppinger, The Gypsy King refused to accept anything less than 50-50, leading Usyk's side to walk away from the deal.

Re: What should Usyk do next?
Tyson Fury's coach SugarHill Steward has admitted he was not in Manchester to train Tyson Fury for his doomed undisputed heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
It now seems the famed Kronk Gym trainer was in fact in Manchester for his new fighter Lawrence Okolie's next cruiserweight title defence on Saturday, and not a Fury training camp. Okolie recently swapped Shane McGuigan for Steward, and was seen in the gym with Fury, leading fans to believe camp had begun for the heavyweight champion.
“Everybody forgot that I’m training Lawrence Okolie, and his fight is in Manchester,” Steward told iFL TV when asked about Tyson Fury's training. “My flight ticket leaves March 28. I want him to fight the best, and he wants to fight the best. Hey, it happens when it happens. We have no control over it."
And Steward insists that his trip was simply for Okolie, with Fury simply taking part in a few group training sessions. He even claims he never even held pads for the heavyweight champion, and that he only used Fury's gym as he feels comfortable in the surroundings.
"All we can do is sit and control things we have control over and wait and see what happens," he continued. "I don’t really care because I’m here, focused on Lawrence Okolie. That’s what I came [to the UK] for. I’m happy everyone is asking me at this time because I’m here for Lawrence. I’ve been in training camp with Lawrence the whole time.
“It just so happens that there have been negotiations and talks about the Fury vs Usyk fight. Then we come to Manchester, and we’re going to go use Tyson’s gym to train, which obviously that’s where I’m going to go because that’s like home for me, and I’m comfortable there.
“Then we come down here for fight week and to continue training and preparing for this fight. I’m like the perfect storm. ‘Oh, Sugar is here now. It’s time; it’s happening.’ I’m like, ‘Tyson knows what I’m here for.’ I’m here for Lawrence. Tyson was in the gym with us, but I didn’t train Tyson. “We didn’t do pads. We didn’t do anything like with Usyk. I’m training Lawrence."

Just can't get my head round that one.
Man finds a favorite meal at his restaurant he's likely to reorder it one too many times ;D. He had Wilder on a blueprint after the "draw" and other than one scary shat his shorts round, he basically dominated Wilder in II and the unnecessary "clause" 3rd that pooched a road to AJ.
I wonder if that's one thing that really eats at Fury too. Fuels that bitterness. Fact that Usyk did what he wouldn't and took Joshua twice.
-
Re: What should Usyk do next?
Still the most dangerous one though. I'd still say that now. Even if you dominate wilder he's still dangerous and capable of taking you out at any second.

That, of course, is if he gets past April fools day. Jermaine Wassname 9/1 on betfair. I guess that a week before a 'fight' Joshua has not come up with the time honoured ' I'm too busy concentrating on my next fight', because he, and all the officials, knows he's going to win.

Re: What should Usyk do next?
Fury Sr has now told Metro: “Tyson knows my opinion and that is all those people wrapped around him want sacking. The full lot.
“If they talk about loyalty, that’s not loyalty as far as I’m concerned. If you are stood by your man, shoulder to shoulder, you take it all.
“You’re not going to pass the blame or distance yourself from him.
“Tyson is my son and I will stand with him until the day I die.
“‘That thing with SugarHill the other day, what the hell was that about? ‘I’m only here for Okolie.’ What was he talking about?
“When I have seen him training Tyson, he was living in Tyson’s house, he had his missus there, he was using the gym and I have seen him working Tyson out.
“And all of a sudden he denied him like Judas Iscariot denied Jesus Christ? What the hell was going on there?
“For me, that is a sacking offence. He will be down the road for that charade. It was upsetting.
“Tyson just falls in love with these people and finds out they are not who they seem to be.
“It is all about pound signs and he has put SugarHill where he is.
“He give these guys a chance like the others he has put around him and it has ended in tears.
“Get rid of them, clear the board. How does the heavyweight champion need all this?
“It would be easier if he did it all himself and he has got capable people around him to help him do it.
“Not just me. With sound people around him we can make the right decisions and get on with it.
“Get rid of them all. They all want to be his best mate but as soon as things get a bit sticky and he gets a few bad comments, people want to distance themselves from him.”

Re: What should Usyk do next?
Promoter Bob Arum, who takes care of Fury's career in America, has declared that the pair were expecting much higher paydays in Saudi Arabia, particularly after Usyk made massive money during his last trip to face Anthony Joshua in August.
"In the Middle East, they have a tendency to put up a lot more money than any place else," Arum told reporter Steve Kim. "It's normal for all kinds of people whether they're promoters or fighters to hold out and hope that lightning strikes, I mean, that was the problem with Fury-Usyk negotiations.
"The deal that was worked out for Usyk in London was he was pretty well guaranteed between £12-15million which is almost $20m. But he had talked previously with the Saudis who were interested in doing this fight but not until the winter, where they had apparently agreed to pay him $60m. So can you blame him for being disappointed with $15-20m? No, that's human nature."
Once it was determined that the Middle East was out of the equation, Fury angled to move the fight to Wembley Stadium in London, where the pair would be paid considerably less. He then demanded that Usyk agree to an unheard of lopsided 70/30 split in order to make the fight happen.
When Usyk agreed, with the caveat that Fury donate £1m from his purse to the people of Ukraine, Fury then insisted that there be no rematch clause for the fight. It later emerged that Fury was also not planning to pay the £1m to Ukraine, and that the losing fighter's promoter would instead front the money.
Ultimately, talks broke down between the two sides when a split for the rematch couldn't be agreed, with Usyk's team wanting a reversal of the wild split if they entered the second fight as champion. Fury's team pushed for 50/50, and a deal was taken off the table with both men set for other challenges in the meantime.

Anthony Joshua reveals Usyk pulled out of Fury negotiations after reading key detail in Gypsy King’s own BOOK
AJ told Boxing Social: "Usyk said he was reading Fury’s book, and he said stalling negotiations was a part of his (Fury’s) tactic.
"So when he read that he was like ‘I’m done with these negotiations’.

Re: What should Usyk do next?
Usyk has now spoken out, telling Volodymyr Kobelkov about Fury: “I see that nothing is going on, he is trying to play us, and I said, ‘That’s all, bye’…
“He says, ’70/30, I am the king. It’s all thanks to me.’ I don’t respond to that. I understand that this is a mental game.
“The king is the king. And the king does not need to shout that he is the king.”
Usyk took a parting shot at Fury as he added: “He is trying very hard to copy the great Muhammad Ali, but the copy is very bad.”
Now, the Ukrainian has been ordered by the WBA to defend his belts against their mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois next.
Usyk has accepted this and, when asked about his next fight, admitted: “It will probably be Daniel Dubois at the end of the summer…
“I will go to Britain, I love it very much. My first big achievements were in Britain. Then Anthony Joshua. I like this place, I like the fans, the people

Re: What should Usyk do next?
It will be interesting to see what Usyk does with this rumour of a December tournament in the middle east. Will he now face his mandatories Dubois or Hgrovic in the summer or will they be paid off and he is inactive until the end of the year?
What will Fury do, will he also decide to not fight until December as AJ has said he will? Wilder will not be facing Ruiz do has no obligations.
This means that the top 4 heavyweight fighters will be inactive waiting for the middle east money.
It also leaves Joyce out in the cold although I am sure he would not mind beating up the best of the rest.

Usyk will probably fight one of his mandatories because he knows he'll win and it keeps him ticking over. Unlike the rest , with Usyk it's Boxing 1st, Money 2nd .
Fury will either sit around or fight a bum , and even then might still pull out in December.
it doesn't matter what Wilder does , he's an irrelevance .
and Joshua has already said he'll sit it out till December , which is disapponting.
Let's see what Joyce does the weekend. But it has been noticeable that recently he has been far more vocal and dismissive of the champions , and i think that's a gameplan his team have devised to drag one of the big boys out .
To be honest, in answer to the original question on the header of this thread, Usyk should do exactly the same! slag off the rest as bums and keep pointing out that Fury ducked him .
It might not work , but it would release some pent up frustration at being avoided and have a bit of fun with it as well.

Re: What should Usyk do next?
Hell of a panorama to look forward to.
Reason why I briefly came back to liking the heavyweights after the Joshua-Wlad classic some years ago... and now have gone back to basically ignoring the division except for getting my comedy fix once in a while.
-
Re: What should Usyk do next?
That giant sigh of relief that was just heard came from "The Big Three", who no longer have to entertain the thought of having to face Joyce.
So... let's get back to the overall heavyweight picture.
So it's December, is it? Again... I won't hold my breath.

Re: What should Usyk do next?
It sounds like Usyk has a clear plan for his next fights and retirement, with the ultimate goal being a heavyweight unification bout with Tyson Fury. He also wants a "freak" fight with Canelo Alvarez for the money, and then finish his career at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium. It will be interesting to see if these fights come to fruition and how Usyk performs in them.

Usyk is also in the driver's seat as far as public perception is concerned. Fury has done everything in his power to prevent a showdown between him and Usyk... and everyone knows that. The idea is being floated about a tournament in Saudi Arabia in December which involves Fury against Usyk... and Fury already called it rubbish. Fury is a man without an opponent... and just about any opponent he dredges up from the depths of the rankings is going to be hugely criticized by the boxing world.
Meanwhile, Usyk holds three of the four major belts... and has already beaten Joshua twice. The next logical option for Usyk is Daniel Dubois.
The "freak" fight against Canelo I hope doesn't come to pass... as facing Canelo has turned into the retirement ATM mechanism for fighters. Everybody and their brother wants to cash out against Canelo. What I personally want for Canelo is for him to face David Benavidez. But Benavidez is a danger in Canelo's own division and no way in hell Canelo is going to look his way. The most likely scenario for Canelo is Bivol, who is clamoring for a fight at 168 which again... I think is a mistake, but whatever.
Back to Usyk. There's always Wilder. That one isn't mentioned very much... but I'd bet it might begin getting mentioned when it becomes obvious that Usyk has no one of merit left to fight.
By the way, welcome to the forum.

Re: What should Usyk do next?
Deontay Wilder could be "interested" in fighting Oleksandr Usyk, who is yet to agree a deal for a WBA mandatory title defence against Daniel Dubois.
Wilder's manager Shelly Finkel told Sky Sports: "If Deontay was offered the fight against Oleksandr Usyk, of course we would be interested."
The WBA released a statement, which read: "The World Boxing Association (WBA) ordered the Purse bid between heavyweight super champion Oleksandr Usyk and his mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois, which will take place on May 25 in Houston, Texas."
