Caleb going a little jab-extend jab and hug. In spots.
gave the second to caleb
2-1 Benavidez. Plant trying to be too cute, he has to put some hurt on David now.
gave david the third. i have caleb ahead by one point
Plant bearhugs Benavidez and the ref warns David?
fourth to david. even after four rounds
Ref warns David for Plant holding ;D. Alright, good fight. Benavidez beginning to put some sauce on it.
Plant outboxing him. Benavidez going to lose on points unless he stops him and Plant is managing to avoid the heavy leather. Only stuff Benavidez is landing with Plant is pulling away and it's not causing damage.
Did you guys actually pay for this over the excellent Ramirez v commey card.....
Benavidez gonna have to turn up the heat and put more pressure on Plant. Not happening so far.
5th Benavidez. This poke, pose n piddle stuff isn't enough from Caleb.
This isn't one of Bayless's better reffing jobs.
Caleb don't call me "John The Quiet Man Ruiz" Plant.
i've got it even after six
Benavidez not jabbing and not going to the body. Making it easy for Plant. Bayless doing him no favours either.
Why is this extended floating jab getting a pass. These two heating up end of 7th.
Plant making it an ugly fight.
gave david the seventh
Caleb hurt off that hook mid 8th. Ref is a cunt he's having a moment. Plant on fooking rollerskates here
This ref has lost complete control Kenny Bayliss ???
ANOTHER warning for Benavidez and not a single one for wrestler Plant. Does Bayless have money on him?
Think this ref is on the take. Or drunk.
gave round eight to david
Bayless helping Plant out a lot here. But Benavidez is the money fighter. Don't get this.
Benavidez mugging him badly. Big brass from Plant but that physicality has eclipsed his reality, man is sagging off this power now.
gave david the nineth. i have david ahead by three points after nine rounds
Look at Plant man. Pride putting a major hurting on him. Way too much
Even the commentators are piling on Bayless. This is unbelievable.
They need to stop the fight.
i've got david ahead by five points going into the last round
Ha Benavidez smacked him on the arse a minute out ;D. Helluva fight. Plant did well to bunker up down the stretch. Some of those are lasting type shots.
i've got david winning by six points
all three judges give it to david, one the same as me, one by four points & one by two points
Mutual respect between both fighters after the fight. Benavidez let Bayless off the hook when Jim Grey asked about him. He should've been thrown under the bus. One of the lousiest ref jobs I've seen in many years.
Always good to see guys "grow up" immediately after so much trash talk, big respect by both. Well except Chris Colbert post fight :-X. Was really a solid night of fights.
Alvarez has left no doubt he's just about milking the teet after Bivol. We always hear about a huge fight over "marinading" but in the case of Canelo he won't even speak the name of Benavidez as far as future match. Hopefully that changes and a natural/obvious rivalry can come off finally, but I think with Canelo teetering at peak/semi slide of career it'll make it even more difficult to come off. Style wise Benavidez may be wiser than Bivol for Canelo but both are very real physical threats.
Time is on Benavidez's side for a match against Canelo. For once Canelo finds himself on the wrong end of the age difference. Benavidez is younger than Canelo... so Ginger can't wait for him to get old. The "won't fight Mexicans" thing is sure to be brought up as pressure mounts for a Ginger-Benavidez showdown. Ain't too many excuses out there for Canelo to hide behind. So once he realizes he's got no business with either Bivol or Beterbiev... he'll be forced to focus on 168. That is... unless his team comes up with something where Canelo can avoid Benavidez by fighting at some catchweight against some computer-picked victim.
This was a good scrap. Not an instant classic, but one of those scraps that separated the top tier from the just good.
Managed to catch up with the highlights so far. Looks a good fight, props to both of them for their behaviour after the fight.
Slowly slowly Canelo is going down a dark alley and is going to find it difficult to avoid some pretty tough fights.
I’m not saying Benavidez will beat him, but if he did, it’s going to make a massive dent in Canelo’s legacy and all his fans that think he is an ATG would not have much of an argument.
Plant was just outgunned
I want to see Canelo vs. Benavidez
