re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Tonight I watched A Family Thing (1996) starring Robert Duvall and James Earl Jones. I just lucked into it, I'd never heard of it til tonight. I can't recall the last time I enjoyed a movie so much. It was just me and the tv. Gentle humor, without being sappy. The sort of movie the whole family can enjoy. Can't recommend it enough.

never seen any of them, u like your older films dont ya Lyle
They are classics for a reason....it gives you a good sense of the times what was ok to do and say and so on....hell you can look at Monster Squad which was made in 1987 and hell you couldn't make that film today, 13 year olds smoking and talking about who's a virgin and who isn't and 4 year olds cursing...no way that could be made today, but I still love that movie.
I love good movies and bad movies but they have to be REALLY bad for me to like them. I like trying to figure out if the people working on that film actually figured they would make some kind of masterpeice or if they totally phoned it in.
As for these gangster movies I ordered, hell those were made during the time of a real big gangster era: Capone, Lucciano, Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd, Baby Face Nelson, etc. So the films might try to show gangsters in a positive light OR try to be Public Service Propaganda to get people to steer away from lives of crime due to the War On Crime which started around that time. I just think it will be cool to see #1 some badass actors like Bogart, Cagney, and Edward G. Robinson and #2 See what went on in the movies and compare it to today's gangster films.

An Korean movie called Old Boy. It was disturbing to say the least, but very good. I'm a big fan of foreign movies.
re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
I just saw Public Enemies yesterday, quality film, but it doesn't do the book justice.
It has a different feel to it than most films as it was shot 100% digital and it had points where it jumped around from Dillenger to FBI to Dillenger's girl to Melvin Purvis and it seemed as though the director didn't know how to fit that much information in the time given.
Quality action packed movie though, a must see....I also STRONGLY suggest you read the book

I have actually heard a few people complaining about the camera that was used for filming.
I'm gonna check this out probably next week I really wanna see it, I didn't have a chance this past weekend with it being a holiday.
re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Yeah, the camera didn't really do all that much for me and the action/focus(of the movie, not the actual camera) kind of jumped around...it even got me jumbled a bit and I read the book. It's got quality action in it, but all in all I think it could have been done better, but I had such high hopes for the film, it's not like when I read Gangs of New York and then saw the movie they were 2 different things.
In all honesty I wish it had been a bit more graphic with the violence and a bit more descriptive of exactly what locations certain events happened in, and for the love of God they didn't show the taking of the Barker-Karpis Gang which was one of the more gory events in the book and one of the biggest fuck ups in FBI history which caused them to back pedal and cover up in a way which wouldn't give you cause for feeling safe about them.
