Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
Cotto steamrolled Paulie without knocking him out. I mean, a broken jaw, cheekbone, and nose? Paulie lasted because he did something no other opponent has done against Cotto: hold. The only thing Paulie did well was jab and throw quick pitty-pat combinations, yet they were NOT effective. The rest of the time Paulie held. In fact, Cotto had a more accurate and effective jab, while Paulie had an "active" jab. Cotto's jab is deadly, but it disappeared in the middle rounds. Also, Cotto scored a lot of points while Paulie was holding. Paulie absorbed a lot of body shots in those holding sessions. Cotto even looked a lot like Hatton and Tszyu on the inside, except better all around. His double left was a thing of beauty and caught Paulie on numerous occasions. The last two rounds, the championship rounds, Cotto came through and showed once again that when the pressure is on, he produces!! Now that Cotto has fought practically all the styles out there, after fighting in the olympics, and after an extensive amateur career, one that has earned him the title of Puerto Rico's best amateur ever, it is time he fights one of the big boys. It seems like it will be Castillo. Cotto is ready !!

on another note 2 pounds lighter for both fighters at the weigh-in stinks of scale tampering IMO
MOVE UP COTTO BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.
I think it will be cotto v hatton next for sure, but at what weight?
147,Cotto would be stupid to take it at 140.One can sense he wants to move up asap.
I don't think cotto can beat hatton at 140 or 147, but i think his best chance would be at 140.
Cotto can and would beat Hatton at either weight for a number of reasons
1. he's the harder hitter
2. Hatton cuts and swells easily
3. he's the better boxer
4. he's physically bigger and has a stalky frame that can carry the weight better
5. Hatton can take it upstairs but Cotto mainly deliver's his ko blows downstairs

The fact is other than a handful of Hatton fans,no one else has said it was close at all. That's all I have to say about the matter. You are making an argument based on nothing.....Cotto won UD,broke Paulie's face literally and Paulie admitted he was outclassed himself and not once did he say or even attempt to say in any way shape or form that it was a close fight.... ::** ???
"Instead, he won the fight but was run close. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. Even the Sky Sport's pundits had it by 1 round and 2 rounds to Cotto."
How can you misinterpret that? In no way, shape or form do I say that Sky having it close means it definetely was close. I'm just showing that my opinion is shared by many.
If you can show me 2 different people on here who said the Hatton-Collazo fight was an easy win for Hatton I'll be shocked. In fact, I challenge you to do it.
And stop trying to use Hatton as some sort of excuse for us thinking it was close. He has nothing to do with it. You cannot be objective here, that much is clear.
Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
Coming into the fight I wnated Cotto to punish Pualie, sooooo bad that Paulie would NEVER EVER want to step in a ring again.....
Then when Cotto dropped him I started screaming at the TV set
'not yet Coto, not yet'
'dont finish him it's to soo'
'let him continue so you can beat the shet!!! out of him'......................
Then in the middle rds. as Paulie started catching Cotto with some shots and even stunning him I said 'Ohh!! crap he should have finished him in the begining'
Then Cotto started ladning again...
Now M'I the only person who thought this fight shoudl have been stopped?
As the fight wen't on I started feeling bad for Paulie, but then I would think of the all the shet!! he talked leading up to the fight and say 'ahh! fwock it he deserves it'
Then came the post-fight interview and in all honesty thats the first time I EVER felt bad for an opponent of one of my favorite fighters.....
I swear I could not believe how bad I felt for him, and was it just me or did Paulie almost wanna cry?
I just know that looking at that screen I saw a young kid who bit off more then what he could chew and choked......Hopefully he learns from this fight and thinks things over.
Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
Hopefully he learns to keep his mouth shut....."You ain't pretty no more"

Erm, dont try and take the high road here without getting your facts straight. If you actually read everybody's posts you'll see noone, not even people that picked Paulie (and there werent many of us) are saying that he won. Far from it, Paulie, or Cotto's EXTREME lack of doing anything between rounds 3 and 9, made it a close and enjoyable fight. Cotto turned it up when he needed to (the last three rounds) and won in the end. Paulie was extremely effective when on the outside of Cotto, whether this was more due to Cotto's inactivity or his workrate, he still was. The thing that made Cotto look dominant is he won THE FIGHT, not all the rounds, and the rounds that he won, he won by a decidedly bigger margin than Maglinaggi won any of his. However, this is the way boxing matches are scored and if you look at what BOTH fighters were doing, Maglinaggi won a lot of the middle rounds.
Paulie was hardly anyone's man before the fight, people here just make informed decisions. Cotto was drained, looked like a freaking skeleton in the press conference and people thought Paulie could give him trouble. Im a Cotto fan but was seriously worried going into this fight and wasnt too convinced at the end. If someone with Paulies speed and any power at all comes along (Mayweather) Cotto could be in serious trouble.
He had his moments but they were few and far between. Cotto let him feel the pressure and he folded wether you wanna see it or not. He was happy just to finish the fight on his feet. If don't think he was holding more than what's allowed then you're just being biased. Even the ref seemed to feel bad and let him hold and finish the fight. He could have easily have lost points or been DQed. He had heart, I'll give him that cause most of Cottos opponents after that much punishment just quit, but he was determined to finish one way or another. Do me a favor and picture that fight without the holding and tell me what you really think would have happened. Be honest.

My point exactly. People are just trying to downplay what Cotto did. It's not easy to knock a guy out that's holding on for dear life.
Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
Thing I respect most about Malignaggi is that he had every intention of backing up his talk. Unlike people like Tarver who give up when things aren't going there way. Things werent'going Paulie's way so he decided to try to make them go his way, he never quit and showed a champions heart which is different from most trash talkers nowadays. Paulie actually goes in there to back it up. And he did, he just didn't win. But he got a lot of fans and a lot of respect because we know he aint joking

Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
Don't see how anyone could hate Malignaggi. CMM you gotta admit, usually talkers will talk but once thnings dont go their way they will quit in a fight, Tarver and Camacho Jr and etc...
But this guy actually went into the ring to back up every single word he spoke and he never quit and tried his hardest and didn't go into a shell or anything and deserves a MASSIVE respect for proving everyone wrong, he isn't a joke, he's for real. Despite losing I think everybody knows that Malignaggi is for real.
Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
He's still a feather puncher :)
Don't take offense to this Starr, but you hit harder than he does!

Right on Starr.... I agree he talked the talk but couldn't walk the walk...He showed a lot o heart and courage. But honestly I'm not sure if he can recover from this not only physically but MENTALLY a beating like this one is hard to overcome in both aspects. IMO..
Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
I was impressed with Paulie...but he really REALLY got the shat kicked outta him.
He lasted 12 rounds...but in all honesty...I think that had Cotto been his normal weight (Whatever the Fwock that is @ 140) he woulda KO'd Paulie earlier.
Paulie landed some good shots...but come on people...that was a bit down.
The kid might have to have surgery on his jaw? Puh-leeze! He got his ass handed to him & you all know it.
Fess!
