You don't block all those shots and come out of the fight looking like Wright did.
yeh agree
winkys fight !
I agree that some of Taylor's punches came (partially) through the guard, but he didn't land anything cleanly, like Wright did--except for bodyshots. I don't know why Manny didn't tell Taylor to stick with the hooks to the body--it's not like it drew his hands down any further than he was leaving them the whole fight anyway. If he'd done more of that I think he could have won the fight, or gotten a draw (fairly). As it was, I thought it was a pretty close, but also pretty clear victory for Wright. He fought his fight and forced Taylor to fight it too. Plus the landing more, both on a full-fight and a RBR basis.Quote:

Watch again, Winky pushed at the start of the 12th only in the last minute or so did he dance around. Also everyone saying Winky was hurt, listen to Taylor himself, something to the effect of if Winky was ever hurt he played it off well.Quote:

This is a great point, but anyone who sees Winky's fights knows that he gets that way, but he doesn't usually cut (Hatton gets that way in relatively easy fights). That is nothing compared to the way that he had the BIGGER MAN on the ropes for rounds at end. He dominated the rounds clearly, and Dan Birmingham gave Winky every instruction he needed to win the belt. Listen to the corner, then watch what Winky did... He clearly won, but he also blew it.
Being a person who saw the Winky/Vargas fight LIVE, I can say that the fight was easily 9 to 3, maybe 8 to 4 for Winky, just like this one. In the Taylor fightk, Birmangham knew not to take the round off AT ALL, yet Winky just wanted to show the world that he could move around and celebrate like a young champion who finally achieved his goal. He should have known that HBO was going to go against him, he should have known if the judges were the going to try to rob him--like the last fight against a young olympian prospect.Winky forgot one thing... the young champion was already in front of him.
NO WAY CAN YOU DANCE IN THE 12TH FOR THE UNDISPUTED TITLE!
Respect for the quote...Quote:

Watch the 12th again and I assure u thats what happened. Or maybe someome will upload it to youtube and you can decide then!
I totally agree with you, but can't you see that they were already biased towards the champ before the fight started? Can you say that Winky got to Memphis and thought he was going to get a fair shake? THAT'S THE PROBLEM someone else spoke about. We are so enslaved to the system of boxing in this way that we already assume the bias, we already assume that he has to do more just to make things even.Quote:

I'm gonna say this then I am out... (yeah, right).
1. HBO Fighter, HBO Promotion, with the champion trained by the KEY HBO Commentator... no discrepancies there... right?
2. Turn down the volume and put on your favorite action music before the fight starts. You will be amazed how this affects the fight. Not just now, do this for ALL HBO FIGHTS.
3... Winky clearly is looking like an older fighter. When you put him in front of a young guy, it becomes more apparent.
4. Winky won the fight--against a Light Heavyweight. Look at the weights before fight time... Younger and much bigger, he still used his jab and dominated on the ropes.
5. Winky Wright is clearly the pound for pound best in the world. Neither Mayweather nor DeLaHoya wil touch him. He is more feared than Margarito.
6. You're right... Wright did win the 12th round, but he gave them a door to slip in a steal it.
C'mon Starr cut it out your like the Larry Merchant of this forum with your conspiracy theories, crazy predictions and outlandish ideas... Luv ya anyway..LOL!!Quote:
