Watson would have won a clear UD in the rematch, had it not been for the tragedy
Actually, mate, if Eubank won the last round it would of been an MD.
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
Watson v Collins would of been interesting.
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
watson won easy in first fight and in 2nd fight he was winning even more convincly until eubank got lucky punch

Same with Trinidad vs Wright and Hopkins Trinidad, but if you didn't see it in DLH vs. Trinidad, you didnt see it at all.
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
umm no it isnt bullshit most people think he won the fight chris eubank hardly done anything in first fight
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
it wasnt the most active fight but watson done enough to easily win
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
Sorry dude, but your wrong.
Watch it with an open-mind, don't hate Eubank, and you'll see that Watson wasn't in his class.
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
i dont hate eubank at all i think hes tough sob but i think watson won the first fight and was winning 2nd fight convincly thats just my opinion
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
thats silly to say he wasnt in hes class watson was just as good as euabnk plus he fought excellent against benn
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
Take the Benn fight away, and Watson was never in Eubank's class. Nobody even knew who he was before the Benn fight, he was average. Eubank was special.
That was too easy for Watson, against Benn. All he had to do was open his gloves and cup both sides of his forehead because Benn was just swinging away hopelessly non-stop, and with Watson dipping in with those long forearms and big elbows it meant every body shot was blocked too. Benn fought like a berk, hitting arms and gloves until he was burned out. He lost that fight more so than Watson won it.
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
he outsmarted benn he fought very well u cant take that away from him and if he was so average and eubank was so special why did he give eubank such a hard time ?? and only reason no one knew him because public loved eubank and benn at that time dont u think its unfair he beat benn yet benn was more known to the public than watson.
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
no one knew iran barkley when he fought tommy hearns and look what happened to hearns it doesnt mean just because u arent known more to the public that ur average.
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
Watson didn't give Eubank a hard time, Eubank schooled him. In the second fight, there were rumours he was hypnotised and on drugs. Yes, he looked unbeatable in the second fight - but that's just one fight, and he lost anyway.
Not even his own camp gave him a chance against Benn!
Re: what if calzaghe vs benn calzaghe vs eubank prime calzaghe vs collins
read this Everyone knows the current plight of Michael Watson, but the heroics of his fightback from injury were matched by the courage he displayed in the ring.
Watson was the quiet man compared to the flamboyance of the men he fought alongside so memorably, Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank.
He was the ultimate professional, a student of the game who knew his boxing history, analysed the styles of the greats and kept himself in peak physical condition.
No-one fancied his chances in the clash with Nigel Benn; the Dark Destroyer was supposed to blast Watson out of the ring.
But Watson surprised everyone with his peek-a-boo style, frustrated a flailing Benn for six rounds before taking out the exhausted Commonwealth champion.
He was again the underdog in the two Eubank fights. Watson's skill and work-rate saw him dominate the first encounter, before he was robbed by a criminal decision on the scorecards.
The second fight followed a similar pattern as he overwhelmed Eubank, dropping him in the 11th, only for the Brighton man to rise from the canvas with that fateful uppercut to Watson's jaw.
A clash between Joe Calzaghe and the Michael Watson who defeated Nigel Benn would be lapped up by the boxing connoisseur.
The two stylists would fight out an intriguing tactical battle, whilst never neglecting to get the hard work done on the inside.
Of all Calzaghe's opponents, perhaps Richie Woodhall is the nearest in style to Watson and an analysis of this fight could suggest the likely outcome of Calzaghe-Watson.
Woodhall competed for 10 high-class rounds against the Welshman, but over the course of the 30 minutes Calzaghe's heavier punching dragged the fight more and more his way until the challenger could take no more.
Watson was a class above Woodhall, but a similar pattern could be expected against Calzaghe. The Welshman takes it in the 10th.
