Re: How does Mayweather Jr do against some past greats?
Ok, I'll be a little azzhole here.
Stop dreaming, folks.
Even if someone up there would make those fighters equal in size to the Pretty Boy, the fights will never happen...
...Simply because Floyd wouldn't fight 'em!!! ;D ;D ;D
...But seriously, all I can say is the likes of Castillo would never have given those fighter hard time. IMO, even Duran could've beaten Castillo without much problem... ;)

Hey Ted, sorry mate I never said anything about you buddy I was talking to Taeth.
Glad you have watched a few thousand fights, just a shame that at 69 you probably can't remember any of them ;)
Well, I am the opposite. I have had a few thousand 69's and can't remember all of them.
;D

Re: How does Mayweather Jr do against some past greats?
Yes Duran beats Castillo, but does that mean that since he lost to Lawler, Sims, Gonzales, Joppy, and Laing, PbF beats Duran? Probably not given the weight issue. Point: as Einstein said, it's all relative.
Re: How does Mayweather Jr do against some past greats?
How about the Marvelous one? How would Hagler do against the pretty one? I know hagler was a double fisted guy so how would he do?
Re: How does Mayweather Jr do against some past greats?
He wins, but if PBF does a SRL on him and steal the rounds (which is a strategically smart thing to do), who knows? Hagler has to catch him. The one thing Hagler had a bit of trouble with was foot movement. IMO
Re: How does Mayweather Jr do against some past greats?
Let me be serious this time. SRL had almost everything Floyd has plus more - bigger and more variety of punches, and a better chin. Floyd might have a slight edge in defense dept. but it's not necessarily because SRL was less skilled defensively, it's more because he didn't run too much and liked to mix it up more than Floyd. I wouldn't go far as to say Hearns had everything Floyd had but I'd say he had bigger punch and he had what it takes to catch Floyd without much problem. I think a better match-up would have been Duran. I think Duran could've taken Floyds punches while relentlessly pursuing him. But the big question is would he be able to catch him? I think this fight would've been more competitive and exciting, the one I'd love to watch.

Floyd has large advantage in defense its no question. And Duran wasn't quick enough to catch mayweather... if he couldn't catch Leonard than he wouldn't ahve been able to catch Mayweather. Also SLR didn't use his body as effectively to block shots, and he was easier to counter than Mayweather is.

Also I never commented on his punch power, which for the most part was more him either landing a 8 punch combination on a defenseless fighter or wearing down an opponent like he did Lamotta in their last fight. Robinson did have good footwork, and I said that, but that was his only source of defense either than good reflexes... him, Leonard weren't any better than Roy Jones Jr. in that sense only Ray was slower than Roy, and had way less power. Anyways, I don't believe that Robinson could knock out Floyd with one punch because he would never catch him so open. And I think Judah causes more problems stylewise than Duran because he is so fast, and a skilled boxer, and can crack(though DUran hit harder than Judah).
Hey princess I know it was a left hook that dropped Fullmer...I was saying not only did he have 1 punch power he had extremely fast hands and threw GREAT combinations. How you can say Ray Robinson never catches Floyd is beyond me and shows me that you know jack S*** about Robinson.
Ray Leonard was able to withstand Tommy Hearns and Marvin Hagler's power and I think he would beat the S*** out of Floyd Mayweather Jr. who NEVER stood up to a brawler as good as those guys and he runs and Ray being as fast as he is and as good as he is at cutting off the ring Ray would dominate him.
Judah was faster than Duran but Duran could make ANYONE brawl and I think his mental toughness draws Floyd into a brawl or else Floyd runs like a little bitch.
I'll tell you this running away doesn't make a great fighter....people think it's contradictory for me to say that about Floyd and yet like Willie Pep but if you look at Pep he took challenges on and used all his skill to win, Floyd uses his skill but he uses his legs more
Just thinking that Robinson was amazingly fast shows that you have no idea that the speed of a boxing fight has changed... Robinson would not be exceptionally fast by todays standers, and just by saying I don't know jack shit about Robinson doesn't change fact that I have watched his fights, and I do know which punch he actually used to knock FUllmer out. Duran didn't make everyone brawl with him... watch Leonard II, and you'll see that he didn't brawl, and also Mayweather is a smarter fighter than Leonard who doesn't try to prove himself when he knows he can't win a certain way. And also we have no idea how hard Castillo, Judah, Corrales hit in comparison to the guys of old... Corrales would weigh in at super featherweight at the same weight Hearns would way in at 147, and Castillo could have easily ocme in at lightweight over 150 if he was allowed... THese guys are strong, big, guys who are probably stronger Leonard, and definitely Hearns. Besides be caught by suprised against Corley Mayweather hasn't been hurt by punch, and even in that fight he came back immediately which shows it was probably more of a stunning shot than one that actually hurt him.
Re: How does Mayweather Jr do against some past greats?
hws have got alot faster though ;D
Re: How does Mayweather Jr do against some past greats?
If what was the case? ANd if you look back there haven't been very many really fast hw's besides Ali, and more recently like Tyson, Lewis(For his size), Byrd(who has faster hands than Ali did), etc.
Re: How does Mayweather Jr do against some past greats?
Corralas hits hard compared to anyone and his fight with Castillo shows just how brutal bith can be. Yet PBF beats them 3 out of 3. Judah sends Spinks down and out and can pop when his head is on right, but PBF beats him also. I say at least Corrales and Castillo can hit with SRL...maybe not Hearns, but not many could. And a prime Corrales does remind me some of Hearns with his lean and tall stature.
