Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round of Edison Miranda vs Willie Gibbs
It seems that most here have a pretty low opinion of Jermain Taylor. I have to wonder if a lot of it has to do with resentment over him dethroning BHop. But, if you think about it, dismissing his talents actually does disservice to BHop.
I'm sure not KOing Ouma didn't help him...
I wanted BHop to win in the worst way both times, but I have to be honest and say that I think Bernard started too late in both fights to get the win. It was more than that, however. Even after BHop started to pour it on JT found a way to win a round here and there.
Then JT took on one of the toughest opponents he could've. I thought Winky won, but it was close and I definitely don't think Winky was robbed. Plus JT's, statement about fighting the whole 12 was very apropos.
Then the Ouma fight and JT didn't get his KO. It wasn't for lack of tryin though. Some of those uppercuts looked like they would've stopped most opponents. He did totally control the fight, however, and did not allow Ouma to fight his fight or get any sort of momentum going.
My point is that while many of the criticisms about him are not unfounded, he does find a way to win, or in the case of vs Winky, hold on to his title. To my mind, the asset that he has relied on against elite competition is his jab.
I actually think that If he had relaxed and used his stiff jab against Ouma more, he probably would've been able to set him up for a late round TKO.
Therefore, even though Miranda has that "big eraser" as Teddy Atlas calls it; I just think in all likelihood, JT would control him with the jab and use it to set up right hands of his own to win.

I would have much respect for Taylor if I actually believed that he dethroned Hopkins legitamately. The second fight I thought that Taylor was a lot closer to a real win, the first fight...he got outlanded & he got outmustled & I don't see that he won the fight.
He lost to Wright...plain & simple.
The problem I have with Taylor is the let down factor. He's just become a bit of a let down as far as his overall ring generalship goes. He get's pressed way too much for my likings.

Why can't you accept that Hopkins is 4 or 5 round fighter and got exposed for it. He fought dirty, Jt did it right back and he didn't like it so he went on retreat until he thought JT was tired. Stop being so bitter and give Jt some respect.

Bernard Hopkins is a great fighter. I thought JT won those bouts also, but they were competitive good fights , Hopkins came up short, its no big deal . Hopkins moved up in weight at 40 years old and tapped danced all over Antonio Tarvers ass, that’s no easy task. I think you should give Hopkins some respect , He damn sure deserves it ! He has been a dominate figure in boxing for the last 10 years . O0

Let me guess, you only saw the countdowns right?
Hopkins pretty much ripped Trinidad up for all 12 rounds. And have you seen the Echols fight? Hopkins is one of the GREATEST conditioned athletes in the sport, he isn't a 4 or 5 round fighter. In fact he could stop opponents late as well as early. He also ripped up Tarver for all 12 rounds. If anything Hopkins could outlast any opponent they put him in the ring with(exception of Roy Jones Jr). So where did that statement of the "4 or 5 round fighter got exposed for it" stuff come from ???

Why can't you understand english & collective criticism?
I like Taylor...just not what he has become...as I have explained to you time & time again...those days are done though.
If you think that Hopkins is such a dirty fighter...you need to watch the Tito fight One dimensional wonder fight massacre again. Hopkins retaliated in kind when Tito the one dimensional wonder hit him low & used his head.
Talk about bitter...youv'e been crying like a baby trying to come up with excuses for almost 5 years now...& then...just when you thought it was safe to go into the woods again...Wright humiliated your guy even worse.
Now hush up little girl. Adults are talking & I don't have time to help you understand the differences between a chump & a champion.

Not only did I see the actual fights but I have them in my possesion. Yes I did see the Echols fight in which Hopkins turned the guy around and punched him in the back of the head to take control of the fight. He's a dirty fighter and I'm not on his bandwagon cause I don't respect that. I wasn't impressed much with the Tarver fight either and why should I be!? He dominated because 1) Tarver was overhyped 2)Hopkins did his usual holding and punching in the back all night til his opponent wears down. As far as the fight with Tito goes, the only complaint I have is that he started out dirty but he clearly was the better and hungrier fighter that night. Don't forget that Hopkins atarted his career at 175 and Tito at 140 and DLH at around 130 and those are Hopkins biggest accomplishments and what made him.

Dry your own tears b4 you talk about someone crying. Hopkins is a fraud. I had nothing to say about Winky when he beat Tito and in fact developed a great respect for his fight game even though Tito's heart clearly was not 100% in it. You can't accept that the only true MWs that Hopkins fought that were any good both beat him. I have resorting to name calling over the web cause the truth hurts and I keep feeding you a heavy dose of it.

Heh heh heh.
Hillarious. You pretty much have no clue about the middleweight division or the accomplishments of Hopkins...so you really shouldn't comment on matters that you have no clue over.
The fact that Hopkins remained undefeated for a decade is something to marvel at alone...the fact that he ended & handled many up & coming fighters during that time is also another fact that has cemented him as one of the greats.
What's funny is that you think you keep feeding me a healthy dose of truth...but in the end...it's all uneducated bullshit that you wish to pass as the truth.
The fact that you think Tito's heart wasn't in it...now that makes me really laugh...his heart was surely in beating Mayorga...but Wright, like Hopkins was there to win & win they did. My heart wouldn't be in a fight that I was getting my ass handed to me either. :lickish:

Oh please, I could call Tito a dirty fighter fow low blowing Ramon Campos whenever he was in trouble. And by the way who started it? Echols hit him on the break first and then Hopkins retaliated later on. How about giving Hopkins credit for fighting with a dislocated shoulder?

Wacko you come to a point in a thread like the one BX wrote which I highlighted above your post Bx says" Hopkins is a fraud " ., Now for me its just hard to read any further than that . its obvious BX is just on a haters rampage . We all know Hopkins was one of the most under appreciated fighters of the last decade, only now getting the recognition which he has deserved for years.
Personally I am not a huge Hopkins fan, only because his style kind of bores me at times , but that being said he is very effective and one of the all time great Middleweights, I think for someone to try and dispute that is ignorance , A fan can hate him all he wants, A fan can like him all he wants , but nobody can take anything away from the man. He came and he conquered, I think that about sums it up .

Time to wash the sticky off of this thread & let the DRBR fall by the wayside as the ole' Christmas holiday is only a few short days away.
Merry Christmas ladies & a Happy Up & Coming New Years. ;D
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round of Edison Miranda vs Willie Gibbs
OK Wacko lovers....take it easy. Wacko goes on every thread and tells you guys, "CC to everyone on the thread" and we all know that you can only do it once a day. Most fools in here don't realize it and CC him like crazy and that's all he cares about is kissing up to people and stats on this site. Me, I care about boxing and only the truth matters. I don't kiss up and don't give a damn about being the guy with the most posts or any of that. The only thing that matters is posting when I have something to say.
