F*ck me who wouldn't wanna be a 2 weight champ if they could..? ;)
He didn't like what he found at Welter....Simple as that ;D
Yep. That's the silliest thing that I have ever heard.
"I just moved up to fight Lazcano?"
That's bullshit. He would follow Floyd & Cotto up as far as he could physically go...thing is...he couldn't cut it @ 147 & it was against a lesser fighter than Cotto or Floyd that he proved it.
Re: Hatton: I never intended to remain at WW
Im a Huge Hatton fan but you've nailed it spot on mate.
I say what i see and i've said what i saw 8)

No your not, I've been pissed off with it for some time. For all i love going to watch Ricky fight live and the afterfight party's etc, it does piss ya off when he's fighting bum's that he should'nt be in the ring with, and your spending good money to put up with it >:mad
Im a firm believer that if you matched Ricky against all of Gatti's opponents then Hatton would fare much the better, if at LWW or WW ;)

You talk like he only just made that excuse up.. Its true..dont hate just because he had one hard fight..
He did mention that Lazcano hurt his hand and the fight was called but he made amillion and 1 excuses why he moved back down in weight.
If you read his book you will find out what really happened. To be honest he is telling the truth. He was training to fight Lazcano and lazcano pulled out injured. HBO wudnt accept any other junior-welterweight fighter, especially not his mandatories. So he had to look at Welterweight and the only champion available (who could fight on the date HBO set) was Collazo. Its that simple. He didnt want to lose the 13th may date because he had already been inactive for around 7 months so Collazo was really his only option. So basically he did only have 7 weeks to train for Welter. Simple as. Billy Graham didnt even want him to take the fight.
He's naturally a light welter and thats where his future should lie. I agree he should only move up to fight Mayweather or Cotto.
So reading Hatton's book will tell me the truth, right? Nothing but facts in it. No lies, huh? Damn, your stupid. IT'S HATTONS BOOK! OF COURSE IT'S GOING TO SAY THAT. He ain't going to say "I know I really lost to Collazo." "I'm scared to give him a rematch". He's going to make himself look good. And fools like you believe everything in it.

For the record VD the book was written before the Collazo fight. The is no reference to the fight in his book ;)

Than why is this clown saying to read the book?
Re: Hatton: I never intended to remain at WW
Loving the fact that 2 threads concerning the Hitman are getting so much attention O0
Re: Hatton: I never intended to remain at WW
The fact is this.....Ricky has left many to wonder if he is the real deal or a one hit wonder (over a guy who was on the downside of his career) or if he really is gonna leave his mark on boxing. Right now as far as I can tell, he has taken nothing but backward steps since. Hatton better get serious and start taking some meaningful fights (not with guys who won their title in a fight they should have lost = Urango). You as his fans should be the ones feeling cheated.

cc for not letting the love for your fighter blind you. Definitely a breth of fresh air.
Re: Hatton: I never intended to remain at WW
Mattyhitman is spot on, Ive got both the Hitman books out at moment and one of the books is a diary of the build up to the Collazo fight and in it it states just that, Ricky was supposed to be fighting Lazcano but he pulled out injured and the only fight available was Collazo which he took against the wishes of his trainer Billy Graham. This is stated before the fight with Collazo even took place so I dont see why everyone keeps saying it is an excuse. Whats the point in fighting at a weight that Ricky is not 100% happy with and giving his opponents a chance at welterweight when he can still make the light welterweight and in my opinion dominate any opponent in the division he faces?

I think thats a fair point but who does he have to fight to get credit for Tszyu not being a one off? Castillo is next and he has already stated he wants Floyd or Cotto at Welter.
If Collazo beats Mosely, that is a fight I can also see happening cos it will be worth a lot more to them both.
Maussa, Collazo and Urango are all World Champions - possibly the easiest options but so were Gatti and Baldomir.
Lets not forget Tzsyu had just waltzed through Mitchell and devestatingly so...
Before that Hatton stopped Oliveria (never been stopped) and won a wide UD over Ben Tackie who was in all the Light Welter top 10 lists
His career didn't begin at Tzsyu, its just some of the oppo's that Warren matched up weren't exactly inspiring!!

Even if Collazo beats Mosley (which he won't) Hatton will NOT give him a rematch, at least not in 2007
Baldomir was the lineal WW champion, not an alphabet holder, Gatti has a name that brings a big paycheck. Both smarter choices than Maussa, or Urango. Collazo was a good choice, but he took the fight on such short notice.
Mitchell has always struggled against heavy punchers. He never loses a close decision, he gets destroyed, ask Mitchell, Mayweather, Williams, Johnston or Johnson.
Ricky stopped Oliviera first, but Emmanuel Augustus stopped him faster in the very next fight and retired his ass.
I don't think Tackie was still on the top 10 light welter at the time he fought Ricky, because he it had been almost two years since he had a victory and his only notable victory was against Ray Oliviera.

Baldi and Gatti were easy options though regardless of the spin put on it.
Maussa/Urango/Collazo were smart options because they are 'on paper' winnable fights against World Champions. Maussa and Collazo weren't paper champions.
Even if Hatton beats Castillo convincingly it won'y convince some people cos they'll say he is a blown up Lightweight and Mayweather beat him years ago.

I like Hatton in the ring and hope to see him in some meaningful fights. He can't continue to mention all these top names and fight Joe Shmoe for a paper title.
Re: Hatton: I never intended to remain at WW
Joe Shmoe is hard as fwoook
