:coolclick:
This is the direction that I want to lean in...but honestly...as long as Castillo makes the weight & as long as it's a great fight...which I think that it will be...I really REALLY don't care who wins.
IWO, boxing is on the upswing as far as the match ups go...& this one is just what the doc ordered.
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds! Hatton vs Castillo!!!
I dont think castillo is shot.. his "wars" was only two years ago.. and he hasnt fought great but he beat two game fighters(margo fought bad his last outing without the world saying he is shot)... jlc hasnt been up for an opponent since corrales.. he said it himself..
let me put it another way if hatton was 33 then everyone would be saying how he is shot after fighting like sh@t his last two fights...
some fighters need the best to bring out the best of them... castillo has said he has trained harder for this fight then he did against corrales..
i'm making a challenge right now to anyone who thinks castillo is going to win.. either give credit due to hatton if he wins or dont say corrales was shot.. because if you think he is going to win you obviously dont think he is that shot.. or you underrated ricky
i do know the wars jlc has been in has taken some toll on him though.. i just dont think its enough to change the outcome of the fight one way or the other.. If castillo would have beat the living daylight out of herman ngo..?? then we wouldnt be saying anything about him being shot.. hatton had a bad night too.. it dont mean his is past his prime ;)

The question is that Hatton respects Jose Luis more than the other way around so at that second when Ricky goes for the attack, he'll have something holding himself back and that may be why neither this fight will live up to Corrales Castillo nor to Tszyu Hatton... :'(
Good points. Welcome to the forum. Have the Obligatory Wacko Welcome Wagon :coolclick:
Since wer'e on the subject of your opinion...I agree. The Castillo that fought Corrales...but times would crush Hatton...even the Hatton that fought Kostya...I just don't believe that Castillo is going to come in throwing bombs accurately as he did against Corrales.
If he does though...Ricky is fwocked.

I don't think that he's shot...but he is definently on the slide & his lack of drive to perform & get up to speed in his matches is apparent. His lack of conviction to make weight in his last few matches is proof enough that he's been unmotivated of late. Being up as he & other fighters say...IWO that's a shitty excuse.

Let me put it this way...I aint buying the hype behind Hatton period...I hate to be that way...but Hatton hasn't proven a whole lot IWO.

Agreed...Hatton uses that one all the time too. I hope for OUR sakes that they both are motivated as fwock.

Personally...none of the 3 names above do jack shit for me.
I am not a fan of either. I think that all three are fairly limited in many departments as I am more for a pure boxer than bralwers/punchers. While Corrales & Castillo are impressive punchers & what not...when they generally step up...they get sat down. As far as giving them credit...I give them credit for stepping on the mat...but I have a bleak outlook on both Castillo & Hatton now...so...win, lose, or draw?
It's gotta be so what for me.
If they turn out a FOTY performance...I'll applaude them...but I truly feel that Collazo beat Hatton & I also think that Hatton looked shotty against Urango. Hatton did great against Kostya...but how long ago was that?

Sure the wars have taken their toll Castillo..but I believe that the weight jumping for Hatton hasn't helped his cause either. This could turn out to be an evenly matched brawl...which is what I would love to see.
I don't think tha Castillo is totally past it...but he's def on the slide.
Good points though... :coolclick:
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds! Hatton vs Castillo!!!
This fight may well be FOTY in the style of Castillo-Coralles or Ward-Gatti ... but what I find most interesting is where will the winner go next? I prefer a Castillo victory in terms of who I am supporting but that would really leave something unsettled for me.
I want Hatton to be tested against Mayweather - the steamrolling brawler against the supreme master of the science. If Castillo wins this fight, chances of Hatton-Mayweather are probably diminished.
If Hatton wins, then maybe he and Mayweather will end up in the ring together. That would accomplish a couple of things, I think - put to bed some of the criticism of Mayweather for not fighting the best (not that I am very persuaded by that line of thought, but it does leave a lingering stain for his nay-sayers) ... and the second thing would be that Hatton would be (I fully expect) exposed as unable to handle Mayweather's skillset. But he'd certainly be in Mayweather's face more than Oscar was, and push Mayweather to perhaps his greatest performance ever.
Not that I think Floyd is invincible - no one is - and Oscar did show that high pressure was effective against him, and Hatton (like Castillo) is all about high pressure.
Does anyone think there is a chance for Hatton-Mayweather ever to transpire?

Did i say anything right??? l'm just joking ;D good points wacko
I hate the excuse of top athletes of any sport when they say they cant get "up" for the event but still yet; it is a fact of alot highly paid athletes, that if they arnt playing top compition, than they dont play their best: football teams, track stars, etc... but if you were taking a very easy test its easy to get complacent(unfocused)..
(kostya, ibf, maussa, wba,ibf unification140)2005 fighter of the year
(collazo,wba 2nd division 147, collazo down in 1st, won 7rds to 5 by the judges, won UD)2006
(urango,ibf,ibo,140) ..although winning all but one round it was his grabbing style that turned people off..rightfully so..
that shouldnt make him p4p king or an all time great... but he is a pretty good fighter (the ring 9 or 10 p4p i think)
well i guess hatton has a lot to lose and little to gain from winning for his critics.. personally i dont know how good he is but i think he could go toe to toe with cotto which everyone is so high on.. not saying he would beat him but would defiantly give him problems..
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds! Hatton vs Castillo!!!
Is anyone else worried about this morning's weigh-in? Castillo doesn't have the best record in making the weight, and I have criticised both him and Diego Corrales for failing to make weight in fights, and with Hatton saying he won't mess around at a catchweight, it's becoming vital for the fight now. I hope JLC makes it, and despite Hatton's up-and-down, he should still be young enough to make the weight.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds! Hatton vs Castillo!!!
I got to pick Castillo by decision. It would be awesome if he could knockout the British Troll, but the troll is naturally bigger than him, has shown a good chin in the past, and Castillo is a hard puncher but not a one punch knockout artist. It's very possible that Castillo could wear Hatton down with those left hooks to the body and get him outta there late though. Hatton has never faced a body puncher like Castillo. First Castillo has to make the weight though, God I hope he does. There is no excuse for him not to.
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds! Hatton vs Castillo!!!
i think hatton will win a decision or by tko
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds! Hatton vs Castillo!!!
I'm going with a draw. Hatton wins the first 6 rounds with some beautiful box-fighting then Castillo will come on like a runaway train to take the last 6.
You heard it here first ;)
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds! Hatton vs Castillo!!!
pains me to say it, but hatton wins ins ide 5 rounds via TKO!
I said before castillo is shot, so i thought it would be a shit 12 round DC
now i seen the weigh in pics, castillo is weight drained to shit, will try to figth and get stopped sadly.
Hope im wrong and come fight night he still has one big-un left in him and has bulked up, jsut dont see it happening

I reckon Castillo does look pretty drained too, and will look to get Hatton out of there early doors if he can, but Castillo has been the distance a fair few times, and if Hatton thinks that all he's got to do to win is to get past the first six rounds, then he could get caught out. And hopefully Billy Graham won't sod things up for the fans like he did in the last fight, telling Hatton to clinch all the time, that really got my goat.
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds! Hatton vs Castillo!!!
What do you British guys think of Hatton coming out with Wayne Rooney during his ring walk?Isnt Manchester United his rival team? Haha sellout, no really whys he there is he Ricky's friend? Or just for press?
