De Leon throws wide looping punches and hits hard too. I agree, RB must focus on his defense and unleash quick and strong counter punch.. primarily the left hook coz De Leon is a southpaw.
If only Gerry had the power of RB, he would've KO'ed De Leon.
I don't know about koing De Leon and I don't think Gerry lost because of lack of power but rather lack of work rate. I thought Penelosa did well too and some of my favourite boxing writers thought he won but I found it difficult to give a round to Geryy where he landed one or two head snapping punches and Ponce threw/landed many many more but to the body. It was tough to score.
Bautista v Ponce de Leon = Draw after a war.
Z Gorrez kayos Guerrero in 5
Gonzalez SD Penalosa
Batawang pts Rosas
Banal early KO Ortiz
Roman mid round KO Domingo
Final score 3-2-1 to the Pinoy.
Jhonny Gonzalez by brutal knock out
Daniel Ponce De Leon by even more brutal knock out
Z Gorres by UD
Francisco Rosas by UD
AJ Banal by late stoppage
Miguel Roman by early knock out
4-2 Mexicans
any news on the 7th match?
No news yet.
Shame I have to work as I love this concept and am really looking forward to it.
The town I live in is over 50% Mexican and about 8% Filipino and my Casino has an even higher amount of Filipino's at it. There's a lot of interest.
They should do a Copa America version too. Venezuela v Panama, Brazil v Argentina, Mexico v USA and so on. Then throw in Philippines v Japan and a few European challenges (Italy v Spain - Ireland v Scotland) and you have a great series of battles there. Who cares about the combatants records. We all know how much better some athletes perform when their national pride is at stake.

Jhonny Gonzalez by brutal knock out
you gotta be kidding. penalosa's never been stopped in his entire career and if ever it does happen in this fight i see more of the referee stepping in for a tko.
Daniel Ponce De Leon by even more brutal knock out
possibly. though i slightly favor de leon to win this one, i think bautista could pull an upset.
Z Gorres by UD
agree
Francisco Rosas by UD
other way around
AJ Banal by late stoppage
agree, though i think it would be in the mid round.
Miguel Roman by early knock out
agree, except it'll be in the late round or possibly by decision.
4-2 Mexicans
3-3 draw
This is the kind of event that I wish it was on PPV so viewers can watch the other cards and not just GP vs JG and RB vs PD.
Z "The Dream" Gorres may be out of the eagerly awaited Philippines vs Mexico World Cup of boxing at the Arco Arena on August 11 due to an eye problem.
Just read this and also:Diosdado Gabi is being picked to replace Z “The Dream” Gorres.
i liked z's chances better. i guess gabi has an even chance against gerson guerrero.Quote:
