Why do you think thats it's very rare that two prime boxers get it on in the ring? Because they both want more than they are actuully worth, but you can go on and on with your pathetic British hate which is becoming quite laughable. So Lacy was an over the hill fighter was he? The bookies didnt seem to think so? But i guess your always spot on arnt you.
Here we go again. Call it whatever you want. It ain't British hate. But call it that if you want. Bottom line is this. Calzaghe has had what 42, 43 pro fights? In all those fights. And try and be honest. How many were against real live threats? Two. That's it. Jeff Lacy (he was overrated as hell but he was in his prime and considered a threat). and Robin Reid. He dominated Lacy but struggled against Reid (Calzaghe avoided a rematch with Reid like the plague). Other than that everybody else was either shot or a bum. His other best welled known opponents were Chris Eubank, Charles Brewer and Byron Mitchell. I never taught much of Eubank. Not only that but he was old and weight drained when he fought Calzaghe. Brewer was never a great fighter. He was decent in his prime. When Calzaghe fought him he had 8 losses. He had two recent losses to Sven Ottke and was almost murdered in a brutal knock out loss to Antwun Echols. As for Mitchell? Not only was he also coming off a lost to Ottke. But he was coming off life and death fights with Manny Siaca (Siaca was robbed in the rematch) and a washed up Julio Cesar Green. Mitchell was down 3 times in those 2 fights. And Calzaghe still struggled with him. So that makes 2 live threats in over 40 fights for Calzaghe. How can you, who claims to be a boxing fan, find that acceptable?
Totally agree i've been saying this for ages.
Eubank was shot and had like a week to make weight i think it was 12 pounds he had to lose.
Robin Reid was quite good but me personally i never thought he was elite level plus before the Calzaghe he got his ears boxed off by Sugar Boy Malinga and Reid looked terrible in that fight.
Im not going to bother with others because you said what i was pretty much going to say Calzaghe has only beaten like 2 good names Lacy and Eubank and some of the other decent opposition like Woodhall ect were shot former champions Calzaghe has never fought a great fighter in there prime not one.
we all know... its you two guys favorite topic... Why Hatton and calzaghe overrated: brital hands, weak opponents, scared of threatening opponents, fakes injuries, holds too much, did i forget to mention anything????
oh yeah undefeated, playerhating-smashing, recognized pound for pound champions Ricky "the hitman" Hatton and Joe the "pride of wales" Calzaghe 8) 8)
Re: Calzaghe could face Tarver!
Joe Calzaghe needs to man up and take on the major threats now his record is padded out with has beens and never beens he talks a good big fight lets have it right he's called out big names then he fights another bum a safe fight. If he ever had a bad night he talked of struggling to make the weight and he was going to lightheavy that never happened then he wanted Roy Jones never happened Hopkins never happened Johnson 3 times never happened Woods about 3 times never happened. After Lacy they said Tarver was very interested in fighting Joe never happened why is it no major fight comes off we can't always blame the other guys alot of it has to be Calzaghe and Warren. Why they did'nt push for the Woods fight after he beat Johnson like they said is beyond me if he won Joe would be a 2 weight champ it's not like it would be hard to sell the fight if they could sell Bika and Manfredo this would be easy i know Hobson and Warren did'nt get on but they said they would put there differences a side for this to work but same again never happened.Fight fans are becoming frustrated now and i think Joe's stock is falling if he does'nt hurry and get a big fight the fans will remember him more for failing to pull the big ones in and fighting easier options he's 36 next year time is'nt on his side i just can't believe he is still no closer to having his next fight signed.
