They all could back then
Norton was so well spoken he had a minor acting career, now he sounds like he's got marbles in his mouth
Holmes
Frazier
Norton
Quarry
Ali
Chuvallo
They all sound like hell
These are people, not simian cockfighters for your amusement
I thought I heard that Chuvalo sounded just fine. Which is bizarre considering all the punches he's taken.
Last time I saw Chuvalo he was on ESPN Classic ringside and he sounded just fine to me....
Funny how some guys can take sooo much abuse over the years and be OK and others end up with the slur and studder....

SC. People can like who they want to like. I like Ivan Calderon, Hopkins is one of my favorite fighters, but if you don't like guys that fight like that, it doesn't mean you're not a true boxing fan.
Sad Click back to you because anyone who thinks boxing is all about Knockouts is just an idiot and if anyone thinks a fight sucks because there is not a knockout then they know nothing about boxing and need to go watch toughman...........
I never said that I think boxing is all about knockouts or that a fight sucks. That's ridiculous. In fact, most of my favorite fighters don't even punch that hard.
Some people like guys who come out looking for the knockout, is that bad? I think why some people don't like Malignaggi is that there's no suspense, every round looks the same. I don't agree with those people, I don't think Winky is boring but I'm not going to stand up and tell people that do that they're stupid and they're not "true boxing fans", whatever the F*** that even means.

Yeah those moments in interviews Ive seen where he forgets the question and his left hand quivers like a belly dancer is all Okey Dokey
Re: Boxing is getting to soft
Toney's already sounding like shit.
I won't say that's odd, he's had a lot of fights and apparently a lot of sparring but he is a great defensive fighter.
Hopkins sounds perfectly fine to me. I guess I'd have to hear what he sounded like 15 years ago.

Katsidis last two fights poo poo that ;)
It's only 3 less rounds and with todays better diets, training and gym equipment fighters are fitter and stronger imo.
2 fighters on last weekends Golden Boy card can no longer fight again as a result of their brutal fights ;)
Think about it :)...Lyle v Foreman is the type of fight your on about and they were in that wobbly state after only a few rounds ;)
Re: Boxing is getting to soft
No way they are 'too soft' either imo!!
Re watch the Warren and Oscar card's from last week....80% hard, hard fights.
Katsidis looked like he'd been in a head on car crash with no seatbelt ;D

He is also 70 years old and that can be from anything....Hell I hope at 70 I am as strong and in shape as he is....
Re: Boxing is getting to soft
The one thing I totally disagree with is that fights are stopped too soon.
There are not many fights I've seen that were stopped too soon. Calzaghe-Manfredo ok, and there are others but in general fights are not stopped too soon. Look at Pernell Whitaker-Hurtado, should that have gone on longer.
As far as 15 round fights, I don't know. Most serious boxing injuries don't come from one punch early, there from long sustained beatings. Look at Leavander Johnson, its not like Jesus Chavez is a huge puncher. It was the punches being constantly landed over the course of a fight that hurt a fighter. Leavander probably shouldn't have even been allowed to fight anyway.
Is there anyway to tell if there have been less injuries, deaths, since they went to 12 round fights? I mean you would assume there would be less but is there actual evidence.
Re: Boxing is getting to soft
He's been that way since the late 70's
If you really are a fan of a fighter, why would you want to risk him ending up that way anyway?
Re: Boxing is getting to soft
Boxing getting soft? :-\
2007 has been a vintage year. The sport is global people!

the k.o's are keeping your beloved sport barely breathing nowadays buddy
and the malignaggis of the sport are the cancer to it. boxing needs excitement and k.o's are what fulfill fans desire.
its like choosing which you want to see strenght or drawing
its like a chessmaster or warrior who would you want to watch? certainly not the chessmaster or the artist?
Those who can't appreciate the Malinaggi's of the sport are not true die hard fans of boxing.....
The sport is boxing not KO........
The Pernell Whitikers,, The Winky Wrights who don't have the KO ratio's but put on masterful performances are what makes boxing great.....
true I'm not a true die hard fan of boxing, i'm not a die hard fan of anything. ANY DIE HARD FAN OF ANYTHING NEEDS A LIFE.
BOXING DON'T NEED DIE HARD FANS, IT NEEDS THE COMMON FAN. THAT IS WHY BOXING IS DIEING BECAUSE THESE FEW PROUD FOR NOTHING DIE HARD FANS WILL HOLD ON NO MATTER WHAT, THATS WHY THESE CORRUPTED SPORTS CONTINUE TO GET PAY WHILE EVEN YOU DIE HARD FANS AREN'T SATISFIED. THEY SHOULD BE MAKING THE BEST FIGHTS INSTEAD THEY HANDPICK TO SET UP A MONEY MAKING FIGHT. TOTALL BULLSHIET. its like getting played, you'll never get what you really want to see. you'll just get enough for a while but never fullfilled. So many divisions but no true champ. pathetic!
As usual you make no valid points except the fact there are too many divisions...And by the way putting your caps on does not actually mean you are yelling......The only thing pathetic around here is every post you have made since #1
:gay-as-steelie: talk about soft, someones feelings got hurt :P

He's the human shock absorber. Doesn't surprise me at all.
Re: Boxing is getting to soft
One could argue that todays young boxers on the way up are less gritty than their historical counterparts, but perhaps possesssing more polished skills.
However, on the other hand there are a number of prospects making their names on grit alone:
John Duddy: Never fantastic boxer, even as an amateur but chin, grit and aggression are making him a name.
Enzo Macc: His early Career saw him not only battle on after a loss, but also battle on in some very tough fights with Hobson Dominguez etc.
Jamie Moore:After the Macklin fight you can't question his will to fight or endure punishment in order to win!!!
Rey Bautista: His last couple of fights have pretty much seemed to suggest he's not all he was hyped up to be, but IMO they also showed he's in the business not only to dish it out but take it all for a win.
Gotta go boss comin!!!!!
