Re: The British (and Irish) RBR Returns - Dunne v Martinez and Oakey v Magee
Kiko came out firing from all angles and just blasted Dunne out. Didn't even give him a chance to settle in.

Martinez corner made a pretty penny on that little wager ;)

66/1 .... and if as the translator said they had between them 10,000 euros on it...well that's probably more than Martinez actually got paid for fighting.

Oh dear Bernard Dunne. I won't fancy him in the rematch either. Like the Scottish guy in the Setanta studio said (who was that?) it doesn't look like the Irish guys did their homework on this Spanish guy at all.
Setanta are going to be showing lots of good fights, including Cotto-Mosley, so that's something to look forward to.

Roughly how much do you think Dunne and Martinez were each paid for that fight? Does anybody know or can make a good guess please?

Wow, just a stunning victory for Martinez. Dunne has looked great in his last two fights, he's got very quick hands and can land with fast accurate jabs.
His biggest weakness in the fights I've seen though is he tends to get a bit lax and hold his hands low.
I just downloaded this from WBVA and as soon as I saw the filesize I thought to myself, meh stupid Irish fucker must have got caught...........sure enough :-\
Great win for Martinez though, he looked like Edwin Valero in there. Dunne will hopefully come back from this, he's a great fighter to watch.
But this division just got real interesting :o
I'd actually say Superbantamweight is now the hottest of all the low weight divisions, even hotter than Superfeather right now.

122lbs has another huge prospect. I wasn't 100% sold on Bernard Dunne but to be honest that didn't really matter, most prospects no matter how good take an early loss or knockdown. Martinez looks like an animal. Like I read in a recent article regarding to Daniel Ponce De Leon, "The man should be checked for horseshoes in his gloves."
Scary power.

Yes indeed, and ironic that right now that maybe four of the top six recognised biggest punchers in boxing fight at lightweight or below :o
Valero
Ponce De Leon
Pacquiao
Katsidis
These smaller guys are showing the bigger guys how it's done.

Bilbo is that really you?
Did you really just say the SMALLER GUYS are showing the bigger guys how it's done?
Are you enjoying watching the little guys fight?
If so I'm glad to hear that it's about time you gave them a chance without your biased views.

I don't think that any of us were expecting this sort of result, considering the sort of opposition Martinez has been ploughing through in his home town, and all the indicators suggested that the home fella with more experience at a higher level would be able to outbox him.
But this sport ain't made on paper, and Martinez just went in there with loads of confidence and plenty of power and turned over most people's expectations. Hope to see plenty more of him, cause he was very exciting in there last night.
Re: The British (and Irish) RBR Returns - Dunne v Martinez and Oakey v Magee
I had Kiko backed for the ko altho i was rooting for Dunne. Dunne has always been a bit chinny, although i cant take away a great victory for martinez. Back to bantam for dunne would be my advice.
