Nope not me Preme i don't think Hopkins Middleweight reign is much.
That's kind of interesting; I'd be curious to know your opinion of Hagler's reign over the divison. The reason I ask is because they are very similar. Like Hopkins, Hagler's biggest victory was over a former welterweight (Hearns and Trinidad) known for his big punch. Like Hopkins, the quality of opposition during the reign was questionable. If you look at Hagler's 12 successful defenses, other than Hearns only Antuofermo and Duran (fighting 25 pounds above his best weight and 5 years outside his prime) were former champions and only Obelmejias would ever become a champion (he eventually won the WBA 168 championship from Chong Pal Park and lost it in his first defense). Was Hagler's reign "much" to you?
To me, they were both impressive reigns; they did not duck anyone and fought every top challenger to come along. It wasn't their fault that they were head and shoulders better than anyone else in their division.
CC for this and your other post...
thats the problem when you choose to stay in a devision and reign over it. Fighters either get beat and move up, ot move up for bigger pay days... Joe and hopkins both stayed at their best weight and ruled over it for 20 defenses, yes i think possibly both could of/should of moved up at some stage in their career as there may of bene bigger fights - doing what both of them done is a very impressive thing IMO making 20 defenses and beating the ebst at that weight doing so is a great thing to do.

Good question bro i'll try and answer that for you i think beating Hearns is more impressive than beating Trinidad because Hearns was much better at Middleweight than Trinidad was because Hearns was much more comfortable at higher weights remember his KO in first round over James Shuler ?? remember he beat Hill at Lightheavyweight when Virgil Hill was undefeated and remember he floored Leonard twice at Supermiddleweight and remember his one sided beating of Dennis Andries at Lightheavyweight Hearns showed in Hagler fight and other fights after that he was comfortable at higher weights and beat some very good names and still had the power where as Trinidad only fought 4 times at Middleweight and it was obvisious he didn't have the power at Middleweight and was dominated twice by Wright and Hopkins and especially when i see him in Hopkins fight and i see Trinidad hit Hopkins and it didn't bother Hopkins and Hopkins was even able to fight Trinidad on inside and beat him.
And as for Marvin's reign it is similar to Hopkins reign with Hagler's best wins against fighter's moving up in weight like Duran and Hearns i have noticed that when boxers rule one division like Hopkins, Louis, Hagler, Holmes, Calzaghe, you tend to notice the names on there record aren't that great.

When im debating about Calzaghe's opposition Preme i say most of his opposition have been poor but i don't deny he hasn't beaten the best in his division the only guys he could of fought are Ottke who didn't want anything to do with Calzaghe and Beyer but i didn't see Beyer calling out Calzaghe so you must understand mate im not saying Calzaghe has ducked anyone or ect its not his fault he doesn't have Benn Eubank Collins or Watson in his era he can only beat the man in front of him and Calzaghe has beaten the best in his division sadly for him most of them names have been weak but now he finally has a name like Kessler and if he beats him he will finally get the props and can leave Supermiddleweight division and chase after some big American names if you understand that mate.

Plus that just goes to prove what overrated S*** Roy Jones really was getting sparked unconcious by a fighter as limited as Johnson.
Jones lossing to johonosn doesn't mean shit, Jones was washed up and past it pure and simple, Roy in his day was superman and one of the greatest of all time.
Excuses, excuses.
Johnson and Roy are the same age. Johnson beat him the fuck unconcious. EASILY. Johnson has lost to everyman and his dog. That make's Roy extra superduper overrated shit.

Robin reid, brewer, michel, shiek, viet, lacy all of them were built up to be something, viet was coming in with the rep kessler has, just without the belt, sheika was the next mike tyson, ried was the real wbc champ who got screwed over in ermany, mitchel got screwed in germany, brewer screwed in germany everyone who seen the fights new it...
Just coz the us and europe built up these people he handled should not be blamed on Joe - he has fought the next big thing last year, and again fighting the number 1 ranked SMW and looking to fight the undisputed middleweight champ in future and you guys are giving him S***? pull your heads out of your arses will you
Face it Preme HE TALKED AND TRIED ABOUT THIS FIGHT AND THAT FIGHT
fact is, in my opinion hes a joke , and it seems alot agree with me.
YOUR WELSH AND YOU LOVE HIM WHICH IS FINE ALSO.
but i for 1 hope Kessler ends his unbeaten record as i really dont like him as a boxer and i cant accept him as a true champ for the reasons you have made clear.................
HE TRIED FOR THIS FIGHT , HE TRIED FOR THAT well he also talked about Roy Jones at lightheavy BLAH BLAH BLAH
hes a joke end of story. I think hes a wasted talent , hes got something,AND its a pity he has spent 10 years using his talent againest total S*** fighters as a whole .

this has nothing to to with me being welsh or a massive fan of Joe, i was the same when people were talking S*** about mayweather fighting hatton because he was a weight lower...
If he doesn;t fight them you all F****** moan, if he calls them out you moan, when he beats them you claim a case of overrated or washed up.

I can understand sometimes when joe gets S***, he does talk sometimes when he shouldn't (i feel its a build up of years of frustration tbh, now hes got the fame he can speak alot) but i agree when the people across the pond hit back about it, i can see where Jt comes from when he show boats, its no secret im a huge calzaghe fan, but watcha fight with me and when he drops his hands or fucks about (like the bika fight) i was on my feet in my local screaming at him to cut the S*** it, it pisses me off as much as anyone...
But when a guy is simply giving another fighter props, and just extending the hand for a possible future fight that just about no one would argue with, and love to see, to see him get S*** for that is just mind blowing
----
Ice i give you props often for your posts, i liek to read alot of them, but you really seem to look back at alot of what calzaghe done, and the fighters he fought in hindsight, and when you comment on them about being no threat and other things your trying to answer a question that has already been answered...
I'm with you on the fact shieka was not the next tyson, and alot of the guys calzaghe whooped were maybe exposed, or later proven to be nothing special, but you can't boxrec records and say he was nothing, i mean yeah shieka lost, but he was like 23, 24 and fresh off beating johnson? not bad for a kid, i don't know why he lost when he did, weather there was something legit about it or maybe something distrupting him - but i'm 99% sure even if you download the british verison of the fight it says in there something about him being billied as SMw tyson and a big a** threat, along with alot of others joe beat.

I was talking about at the time before Johnson fought Sheika Fenster and as for Johnson vs Jones well you already know the answer yourself Jones was way past his prime and style's make fights like Lacy stopped Reid in 8 and knocked him down multiple times but Reid gave Calzaghe his toughest fight and when Lacy met Calzaghe he was dominated 12 rounds to 0 so like i said style's make fights but i have no doubt in my mind that Jones would of mopped the floor with with Johnson in his prime.

Thats's a pretty dumb statement from you Fenster Tyson was younger than Lewis when they fought but Tyson was about 13 years past his prime where as Lewis was in his prime.
Just because two boxers are same age doesn't mean the other fighter isn't past his prime.
Re: Joe Calzaghe invites Kelly Pavlik to Cardiff.
I'm just giving you the facts, ICB.
Johnson was basically nothing but a shit journeyman with lots of losses - Hopkins, Sosa, Kiwanuka, Ottke, Vanderpool, Branco, Sheika, Harmon, Gonzalez...all these guys found a way to beat him but Roy couldn't.
And to make matters 1000 times worse Roy got beat the F*** unconcious. They're just the facts.
If Roy was so good he would of never lost to a guy like that. Let alone get beat the F*** unconcious. They're just the facts.

So i suppose Tyson losing to journeyman Douglas or Tyson losing to Williams makes him bad and wasn't great in his prime ??
Jones had lost his reflexes speed and confidence thats pretty obvisious how many greats have lost to fighters when there past there prime ?? Robinson even lost Terry Downes so does that make him not good or not great in his prime ??
Jones just like many greats have lost to fighters they wouldn't of in there prime that still doesn't take away how amazing Jones was.
Re: Joe Calzaghe invites Kelly Pavlik to Cardiff.
Im going back a few pages, but I dont see Joe C. calling out Pavlik as cowardly. Yeah he's in a smaller weight class, but he is about to move up. He is 6'2" for fuck's sake....
Re: Joe Calzaghe invites Kelly Pavlik to Cardiff.
ICE i really do not think tyson was past it when he fought Douglas it does not make any since i just think Douglas fought perfect for that fight
