yea we made it about 6 monts ago when the fight was in the works.. Well me and Dan have been salivating and plotting, debating and wishing this fight for almost 2 years now and alot had given up on the prospect altogether as it looked like both fighters were headed in other directions.. Then WHAM!!! the fight was signed..
Re: I might be A Little Late on The Draw, but Who Is Floyd Sparring With?
Oh Yes! I remember JT, the fight was a day or so announced!

likewise ;)
yea I'm a Hatton fan, wouldnt appear so since I am picking against him, I have been a Floyd fan forever and thats where my loyalty is at and that wont change. The only thing that will defeat Floyd is either father time or one to many weight jumps. he is hands down the absolute best fighter in the world.
Re: I might be A Little Late on The Draw, but Who Is Floyd Sparring With?
I'll bet 10 cc's with you that Hatton wins this fight JT.
I'd bet more, but it'd just take too long. People didn't honour them from Calzaghe-Kessler for me.

Ok 5 it is. You're only saying that though, because you know you'll be wearing out your clicking index finger ;D
Re: I might be A Little Late on The Draw, but Who Is Floyd Sparring With?
Yeah i'm the same, i remember i had just started boxing when my Aunt told me there's an amateur called Ricky Hatton going over to Ireland to fight, you might want to take a look at him.
That was just over ten years ago!!!
Floyd isn't what he used to be...Please don't think im saying he's shot or anything, but Floyd has concealed some physical downsides of the climb in weight using his mental brillinace expierience and movement. Ive felt since his arrival at Welter the muscle mass he has put on is restricting the volume of punches he administers and that coupled with the frail left hand could be a boost to the Hatton camp's optimism.

Same could be said about Hatton. his last campaign at Welter was a gift and against a guy in Urango who only had 19 pro fights looked less than spectacular. Then he KO's Castillo who consequently was 5 years older than the one Floyd fought and far from his prime and was a shell of himself after being shot to pieces. Matter of fact we had a prelude og what Castillo was about when he got a gift desicion against Herman Ngoudjo were Castillo came out Flat and lethargic and was getting beat to the punch by a guy with 15 pro fights.
So you could say that Hatton really hasnt showed anything spectacular in a superfight since Tszyu and hasnt shown that insane and sustained workrate over the long haul. He faded against both Colazzo and Urango, then he disposed of Castillo in 4 so no one can really legitimately say Hatton is still that windmill since it hasnt been manifested in a while.
On the contrary Floyd is a cardio machine and has NEVER EVER faded in a fight!!!! matter of fact he gets stronger as the fight wears on
Re: I might be A Little Late on The Draw, but Who Is Floyd Sparring With?
In agreement that Rick faded badly in his alst number of fights and against Maussa (i was ringside there.) he followed the strategy badly.
I do feel tho that he was ready for 12 rounds against Castillo and he maintained his shape better than he has let on before this fight.
Since the Tszyu fight has adopted the same strategy, to smother and roughhouse. I feel a revert to his original style such as in the Pedersen Pep or Philips fight may be implemented against Floyd as he'll need to get his work done quick as Floyd will be an increedibly well oiled moving target.
I feel the fact that Floyd by numbvers and on paer gets stronger as the fight goes on is largely due to the fact that he often sacrifices the first 5 roundss in order to maximise his dominance in the late going. A smart tactic.
However Rickty has said he's going to conserve energy so id say it could be a shock to see Ricky and Floyd box relatively conservatively for the first part of the fight and a war may break ouyt after 5 or 6

A conservative Ricky is a dead Ricky... Ricy will never outbox Mayweather his only chance is constant pressure if he dosent stay relentless he will get carved up like Gatti. So conservative is NOT an option for Hatton
Re: I might be A Little Late on The Draw, but Who Is Floyd Sparring With?
Thats what i thought...
I feel if ricky uses the first four rounds to damage Floyd, idon't mean with punches i mean rough him up wrestle him and pull him about, he may fluster mayweather and initiate exchanges or he may rough him up enough to take a toll on the late going.
Re: I might be A Little Late on The Draw, but Who Is Floyd Sparring With?
I'm sorry if it has been said, but I didn't read through all the pages:
Floyd has Carlos Baldomir as one of his key sparring partners.

Did you know that Cotto was actually Henry Bruseles' sparring partner for the Mayweather fight?

I cant see Baldomir being of much assistance after seeing him the other night. He is much slower and more plodding than Hatton at this point, plus hes not really much of a body puncher.
