CEBU CITY -- Rodel Mayol and Bert Batawang, who both failed to capture world titles after being given the opportunity to do so, have promised to win their fights on Saturday to get back on track for another crack for a world crown.
The duo expressed their optimism during a well-attended press conference at the La Fortuna Hotel in downtown Cebu City for this Saturday's event dubbed as 'Back on Track' which the two contenders headlined.
Mayol (23-3, 18KOs), who had suffered back-to-back knockout losses in his last two fights, goes up against a lighter assignment in Wisan Sor Suchanya (9-6-1, 2KOs) of Thailand while Batawang, who won his last fight with a 7-round TKO over Heri Amol of Indonesia, will take on Samransak Singmanassak (32-18-1, 26KOs) also of Thailand for the WBO Oriental lightfly title.
Mayol, who had finally been released by his Japanese manager, divulged that he is now being managed by Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao and that they are aiming at WBC light flyweight world champion Edgar Sosa of Mexico.
Batawang, on the other hand, said that he is entrusting his future fights to his astute promoter Sammy Gello-ani.
The chief support bouts will feature the durable Federico Catubay against Brix 'Bomb' Ray and Eric Macas of Maranding, Lanao del Norte against Pedro Malco of Zamboanga City.
The weighin is set tomorrow at the Cebu Coliseum starting at 1:00 o'clock p.m.
Fight time starts at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at the Cebu Coliseum. The event is promoted by Gello-ani's SGG Sports Promotions and will be covered on television by Viva Sports.

Sana ay nasa mabuti kayong kalagayan saan man kayo naroroon sa mundo.
I am just about to finish my second semester in college where I am taking Business Management at the Notre Dame of Dadiangas University here in my hometown and before I start training, I would be finishing two more subjects.
God bless us all.
