Re: Juan Urango tonight on WNF
WTF was up with the ref in the Estrada fight?
The first "knockdown" was an obvious push.
Then the Pacheco was out on his feet and unable to defend himself, so he gives him a standing 8??????
Estrada always makes for exciting fights, I look forward to seeing him against higher level competition again.
But that ref needs to get fired, Pacheco could have got killer in there.
Vilches was looking real good until he gave up on the jab and move theory and decided to trade, massive KO for Urango. If Malignaggi does go ahead and fight Urango, I would actually give Urango a good chance, reason being while Paulie is slick and has one of the best jabs in the game, he likes to stay in the pocket which could give Urango that oppotunity to sink some good shots.

First , I agree that was an obvious push. second, the "ruled knockdown" was ok in my book, because he didn't go down and put his hand out to grab the rope. That is technically a knockdown. He could have stopped it, Steve Smoger would not have stopped it, I can tell you that much :p and he's is one of the best IMO.
Re: Juan Urango tonight on WNF
I'm sure Hatton would agree that Urango is a a live dog if not even money against "the Magic Man". Shoot Hatton was hugging for dear life at the end of their fight, Urango put alot of body shots on him. Hatton took some shots that would have had Castillo in the fetal position ;D I think Hattons good conditioning in that fight helped him alot.

I definately agree with the Hatton consitioning statement, if he would have slacked off in training he would've crumbled down the stretch.
Re: Juan Urango tonight on WNF
Yeah and the ref did a great job all night I thought.
I don't think Urango matches up well with Malignaggi, just to slow of foot imo. And Malignaggi can soak up punishment with the best of them, ask Miguel Cotto.

Sure Malignaggi showed heart and hell of a chin, but he was beaten to the point of being ineffective by the end of the fight, and that was against a weight drained Cotto.
You thought the ref calling the push a knockdown was a good job?

No I meant before that fight. It was a walk out fight I'll give him a break, he did a good job in the other 3 fights.
Re: Juan Urango tonight on WNF
Call me crazy, and I'm sure some people will, but I almost think Urango hits harder than Cotto, if not at least on par, the only problem is he is as slow as molasses for a light welter.

You know I kinda agree with you here too, I think Cotto is much more effective with his power, because he can position himself waaay better than Urango, but when Urango is able to plant and throw, he is absolutely devastating.

My favorite Teddy Atlas quote of the night was:
"He's the best hand surgeon in the world and New York"
Re: Juan Urango tonight on WNF
I was just thinking...if Torres gets by Holt again, Urango Vs. Torres would be a barnburner, and they are both Columbians. A little "Battle for Columbia" anyone? :p
