Are you serious ? jesus christ this happens all the time, thats silly to stop watching boxing over 1 bad decision. It happens every other day in boxing, you just accept it and move on.
Now granted i haven't seen the fight and i will, but it looks like it was a bad decision. And it is a shame Evander Holyfield didn't get the record for being the oldest Heavyweight champion of all time, and he deserved it by what im reading on here.
Re: Screw Boxing and I mean that from my heart
I dont see it as a robbery,I see it as one of the worst fights Ive ever watched, but not a robbery.
Valuev landed more effective blows,Holyfield threw more punches, but as often as not,hit low or the arms, and barely missed a deduction for head butting in to Valuevs chin. Also Holyfield faded in the second half.
That being said,I never want to see either of them in a ring again,as long as I live.It was the worst fight of the entire card.
Im having a hard time just getting Martin/Mahfood 2 even booked, and that crap was a $24 PPV?
Re: Screw Boxing and I mean that from my heart
There needs to be some sort of commission or SOMETHING set up to look at these extreme cases where you can look and go, okay, these judges scored it this way, but it's clear the rest of the entire fucking world see's it the exact opposite..
It's bullshit...
I certainly wouldn't want them looking at many fights, but in cases like this, the judges should have to go on trial and explain round by round as the fight plays back in a court how they can give the rounds to the fighters... If it is just total shit, which in this case it is,,,, the result of the fight should be changed...
Re: Screw Boxing and I mean that from my heart
I most likly while still watch but ice this has to be worse decsion i have ever seen dude Evander won like i have to say 10 rounds maybe you could give or take some rounds but my god there no way in hell that Evander did not win i was in shock when they read the cards and very mad.
Re: Screw Boxing and I mean that from my heart
Holyfield and Brooks need to protest this fight and try to get it overturned, That was purely rigged

TM no offense but you have some of the worst scoring i've ever seen, and from all the opinions i've seen on here and from boxing experts, they all say its a robbery and atleast 7 points + win for Evander Holyfield but you don't ? i thought when you thought Mikkel Kessler beat Joe Calzaghe was bad enough but this takes the biscuit.

This was robbing a fighter that won every round.

I thought it was close
Holyfield barely threw a shot in the second half of the fight, and got repeatedly drilled to the body.
It was a crappy fight, but a decision that could have gone either way.
I loathed the fight, but I dont feel one way or the other about the decision. To take a belt its usually got to be decisive. While Valuevs elbows may hurt like hell tommorrow,it wasnt even close to decisive. What it really was,was boring as hell.
Both undercard matches were better..
To be the man,you have to beat the man,to quote Ric Flair.
Now could somebody please beat the man,so I dont have to watch that lumbering sasquatch anymore

Fightnews will say what ever you pay them too. Ever notice that they curiously print press releases like they are fact, and they accept payment to report/advertise UFC and WEC but ignore all other MMA events.
Re: Screw Boxing and I mean that from my heart
Had it 117-114 Holyfield, being very generous to Valuev. I thought Evander needed to be more convincing when winning rounds, there was'nt a lot of action from either fighter but Holyfield definatly won on my card. Never trust a german who is friendly with the Don lol
Re: Screw Boxing and I mean that from my heart
You want to bitch about a robbery, bitch about the female undercard, because that fight wasnt even close on anything, landed shots, power shots, ring generalship, not even close
That was a robbery
Re: Everyone Should Protest
Valuev seems to get a lot of gift decisions...He was given a gift in the first Ruiz bout as well....This is why I do not like fights in countries other then the US and UK...sure there are bad decisions but no damn outright burgleries
Re: Screw Boxing and I mean that from my heart
One thing about not seeing the fight to those that have not.Do not think of it it terms of fighter A swatting around fighter B and dictating hurting terms throughout 12 rounds by volume and big bombs....and then getting shafted.Almost on the other end of the scale,no barn burner and early on you had to pick between very little. But I believe Holyfield did the picking and was banking the rounds one by one.He won this!
To me it was a hard fight to watch, very little action and hardly on par with what we have come to expect when we settle down for a 'Heavyweight Championship' battle,of course in that regard it is not alone as of late?I think Valuev was very tentetive, lethargic and frankly....get ready to lol......in a bit of awe of the event and calibur of Holyfields stature/history.Now anyone with clear vision and objectivness knows that Holyfield has loooong past his best days and is running on fumes, heart and shades of his past skillset but even at this stage he was busier, moved well and landed in some counters.Buy the 4th he was walking too The Chumpion.Valuev just phoned it in....followed him around the majority and did very very little,His jab was absent,he did not exert himself or imo fight to remain Chumpion.Holyfield went after it with what he has at 46 years old and EARNED that victory soundly. No,he is not rebuilt,re-tooled and ready to defeat the best in the division,no way......but he sure as shit did enough consistantly to beat that carnival oddity and merit the title victory!!

Well, that certainly says something, cause Lewis Holyfield was as bad a robbery as I can recall seeing.
Oh well, I kind of shrug my shoullders at this latest fiasco. The last thing I wanted was to see Holyfield calling himself a world champion, but I would rather have had a convincing victory for the big V. By the sound of things, I predict WBA will have an enquiry and call a rematch.
Re: Everyone Should Protest
He got a gift in the Larry Donald fight too. It is easier to name the fights where valuev was not given a gift decision.
