Re: Classified information 4 Smashup & the Haye followers
what the hey is going on here??
it started out as a fascinating battle between two knowledgeable gents on the sweet science...the bad blood brews and begins to overboil, leading me to believe an offer to engage in actual pugilism between a representative of the greatest country on earth (sorry, Rob, that's America) and another who hails from Wales was about to emerge...YEA BABY! BRING IT ONNNNNN!!
then you homos kiss and make up.... ;D;D
just kidding! I too try to avoid name-calling in the forums, as I think it detracts from the point of the forums -- discussing a boxing issue rationally and politely.
kudos to you guys for calling the truce.

Re: Classified information 4 Smashup & the Haye followers
The heavweight division was a total borefest before Haye came along.
He's got everybody talking about the heavies.
When last did any of you see this many posts about the heavyweights?
By the sounds of all the anti-Haye talk on this forum, it sounds like everybody was happy with the stellar heavyweight division we had before Haye.
Why all the hate people?
Re: Classified information 4 Smashup & the Haye followers
Drago, Haye doesn't deserve a shot vs Wladimir...beating Monte Barrett and being an obnoxious loudmouth doesn't = a title shot.
Nicolay Valuev has EARNED his title shot vs Wlad because #1 He has a title #2 He has experience (vs very weak opposition) #3 If Valuev fights Wlad and loses he's relegated to fighting with the REAL heavyweights and if he was to win he earns a match with Vitali...those are both acceptable outcomes.
Ruslan Chagaev has EARNED a shot, #1 he has held a title/holds a title #2 He's unbeaten (vs lesser opposition) and #3 He was done wrong by Don King.
Others deserving of a title shot Alexander Dimitrenko, Eddie Chambers, Cris Arreola...those guys are in the queue waiting for a shot, why should Haye get a chance before those battle tested heavyweights???
If you're looking for someone just on short notice, you might get some crap fighters but hell it gives Wlad a chance to play Santa Claus and give out an undeserved title shot that David Haye isn't ready for. If David Haye is truly deserving of a title shot he'll earn one very soon, I would think if Wlad moves forward with the June 20th fight then a David Haye-Cris Arreola/Alex Povetkin elimination bout will be scheduled and I am 100% sure that would be good for boxing regardless of the outcome.

All those guys are surely boring as you like, Haye gets a title shot because he cam make money and he's exciting for the publicity aswell as the fight. Nothing different happening here than what is happening with Marquez getting a shot at Mayweather or hatton getting a shot at Mayweather rather than someone like mosely or clottey or williams getting a much more deserved shot. Too much double standard going on these days i'm sorry.
What ever makes money, flies....... Theres a lot of talk about Haye in this forum lately, has anyone really debated that much about Mr Alexander Povetkin or Mr Ruslan Chagaev. No. I think what Haye is doing is good stuff man. Creates interest and excitement where there wasn't any and generates debate where things were flat. Can't knock the guy really.

Yes running your mouth non-stop till you get a undeserving title shot and than pulling out with less than 20 days left is great for the division
Re: Classified information 4 Smashup & the Haye followers
Dude, just being exciting doesn't earn him a title shot...so far AUDLEY HARRISON is more experienced as a pro heavyweight.
Kimbo Slice is exciting and look what it got him
GET REAL!!!!

You competely skipped over most post. People have been jumping weights and gettings title shots here and there, what is the difference. Nothing. I'm not a Haye lover, just a boxing fan who hasn't had a slice of interest in the Heavyweights since Lewis as everyone in it is stone cold boring. Just wanna see some excitement in the heavy's is all..... In a Haye vs Klit fight, someone is goin to fall, and i wanna see that, not Klit vs a big mac eatin Arreola or a hairy giant in Valuev. Hell, i'd even fancy it if Adamek stood up to the game and had a pop. You can't honestly tell me that there are more interesting fights at heavy.
Plus, boxing doesn't seem to be about evperience these days, its about who makes money, and Haye is a character who csan sell tickets. Do you think it wasn't the best fight for Klit to take. Why did he take it then and skip everyone else?
Re: Classified information 4 Smashup & the Haye followers
Usually when someone "jumps weight classes" it's a difference of under 10 pounds (130-135, 135-140, 140-147, 147-154, 154-160, etc) and not 200 pounds to unlimited. I think heavyweight is a different animal than the rest of the weight classes. But fine, let's say it's the same as all the other divisions....usually when a fighter gets KO'd they have to answer for that, when has David Haye had to answer for his loss to Carl Thompson? You fanboys blame youth and "he gassed out" but since when has he answered those questions???
David Haye is out now....so this whole debate is moot anyway

I'm surely not a fanboy of David Haye.
Heavyweight is a different animal than people just moving up weights yes, your probably right, on the other hand its the only category that has no top limit really. Haye will fight at a weight that is fine for Heavy, just not huge. Only time will tell if he can really stick it at that weight.
The guy wants to fight the best and you can't knock him for that really. Just like Froch, he's no hall of famer but he is only after fighting the best rather than trudging along and fighting bums all year long...... If Haye spent the next two years fighting and knocking out bums like the rest of the heavies then he would be critisesed for that too. No win really hey??
This is culminates in the very fact that Klit vs Haye is the most exciting fight out there for me. Whether anyone agrees or not is fine....

Being exciting doesn't mean you deserve a title shot against Vlad. And Haye isn't even the most exciting heavyweight out there. That belongs to Cris Arreola. The most exciting and controversial heavyweight out there.
There has been more talk and criticism about him than David Haye (see - how can a man with big breasts continue to win big heavyweight fights?). He also has fought three or four legit heavyweights.
Cris Arreola v. David Haye at the Staples Center. That's a heayvweight scrap that won't go the distance. Then, if David Haye passes the test, he has more of a claim for a fight with Vlad. Here's saying he won't ;).

Simply put Haye is English and all the belt holders are non US fighters.
They don't have a decent Heavy to call their own anymore hense the resentment;)

Yet this Great Arreola that you speak of isn't ready for a shot at Wlad. Sounds more cautious than exciting.
Arreola is overweight, slow and easy to hit. His opposition hasn't been fantastic but he is a good prospect.
I fail to see how Brian Minto, Holyfield etc are prepared to take the risk and fight Wlad but Chris isn't ready. It can't be because he needs to get inshape because he hasn't been inshape for over a year. The guy probably couldn't beat Oliver McCall let alone win a World title.

Don't equate an intelligent thought-out decision, if cautious, with not being exciting. Have you seen him fight? He is a lot more exciting than almost every single heavyweight out there. Watch the Chazz Witherspoon fight and the Travis Walker fight and then tell me if he isn't exciting. Can you name one other heavyweight as exciting as Cris?
When you say slow, do you mean hand speed? Because that definitely isn't true. He may not have the fastest hands on the planet, but for a heavyweight he is relatively quick. He also throws legit combinations.
The reason Cris hasn't taken the fight with Vlad on short notice when other boxers are willing is because Cris actually has the potential to have a legitimate career at heavyweight. Minto knows this may be his only shot. Cris will have a few.
Why does David Haye deserve a title shot? Especially after incessantly beating the hype drum and then pulling out of the fight at the last minute? Now he can get to the back of the line where he belongs. How about fighting a few heavyweights first? The problem for him is he will be beat before he has another chance.

I certainly don't think that Haye deserves a title shot. Thats not what i'm saying. Just that out of all the joke heavies Vlad vs Haye is the biggest crowd pull / fight out there, and the proof is in the ticket sales i guess. If you don't think it is then "get real" as Lyle would say.
