I am amazed by some of the things I am reading on here. Seemingly rational posters are coming out with the most absurd things.
Khan has proven NOTHING with that win and was bloody lucky he has Barrera's scalp on his resume. His reactions to the fight are arrogant and deluded, I can't see Khan going too far at all. Seriously.
Barrera was moving and boxing well untill the cut, I counted one left hand from Khan landing prior to the cut.
Even with the cut Marco was blocking many shots with his gloves, he had no choice but to fight defensive as he could not see properly. Barrera is a warrior, of course he won't give up. Which takes me to my next point.
The fight is now in the hands of the referee and/or the ringside doctor. They all fucking failed IMO.
If people can't see that, I suppose were in a very small minority Miles.
I'm disgusted with the officials. I'm beginning to see what people mean when they question a big fight being held in the UK, and British fighters getting away with things.
Yep, we seem to be in the minority here. There are others who see it this way both on here and beyond, but the media and general public have declared Khan a dominant winner and the cut has been swept under the carpet.
It wasn't quite how it was though, and we KNOW that.
If that's what it takes to put Khan on the world level, then he is fucked.

Speaking of Barerra blocking shots with his gloves how many was he landing on Khan in the first round before the headbutt?
Anyway, what you fail to see is the fact that Barerra wasn't going to outbox Khan. The only way he was gonna win was by a one punch knockout. Khan was being too fast for him and had a good defense up as well when Barerra would throw a majority of them landed on Khan's gloves as well. And when Barerra went for broke Khan whethered it well.
Like i said that cut only brought out the urgency in Barerra 4 or so rounds sooner then it would have Khan.
Barerra wasn't gonna outbox nor impose his will on Khan. So if you want to come up with a way he'd have won even without the cut I applaud you.
You are reading into what happened based on the cut. Like Kel pointed out, Barrera was totally in it in the first prior to the cut. He wasn't being pushed onto the back foot, he was slipping and ducking the jab to get inside effectively. Khan definitely would have started faster than Barrera but to say even without the cut it would have been the same is mere speculation.
I read it differently.
Re: If Khan wins tonight,NO EXCUSES PLEASE!
Lots of you are saying look at the first round, look at the first round. Look at JMM vs Diaz fight, first portion of the fight it was all Diaz, he dominated with his speed and workrate. If that fight had been stopped with a clash of heads Juan Diaz would have won and many would be saying oh its time for JMM to hang em up. You can't say look at what happened in the first round and say that is how the whole fight was going to end up and you can't say that cut did not effect MAB ability to see.

it's as much of a speculation that the fight would have been different without the cut. Wouldnt you say so?
You can say Barerra had one eye or whatever but to say that he would have gotten inside easier or been more effective against Khan to the point of winning is as much a speculation as mine that the fight would have continued in the same way.
A rematch would prove which one of is right. So I'm gonna throw my prediction out there that Khan wins a decision in a one sided fashion.
I was gonna bring up another fight(Pacquiao and Morales I) where they were fighting at a pretty even pace and then Pacquiao was headbutted and cut above the eye as well. I Didn't hear anyone say that morales didn't deserve the win or that the win didn't count.
But I really didn't want to turn it into a pac thread. A safer fight would be that when Holt won the title via knockout in the first round it started with a headbutt, but I didn't hear or see people raising hell about it, they were talking about how spectacular it was. So staying on topic, Khan wins a rematch one sided. If you have a different way of seeing the fight feel free to speak your opinion. I personally don't think Barerra could have done anything to stop what Khan was doing

Yes, totally. It's just speculation on my part too. That's the annoying thing about the fight, it really didn't give any clear answers. You can argue both ways all night, and we don't really get anywhere. I do think it's wrong for people to rate Khan on the back of that win though, it was hardly a fight that developed on equal terms. Now if both fighters had developed a similar gash at the same time from the headbutt, would we say Khan would have won just as effectively? Again, just speculation but I would say no. But you might argue, that yes he would.
You make a fair point about the Morales: Pac fight. But I think this cut occured so early and bled so heavily it can stand on its own as something really out of the ordinary. The bout shouldnt have carried on like it did.
The only reasonable outcome for this would be for a rematch. However likely that is remains to be seen. Indications are that Barrera will continue, but he will take a good while to heal. Perhaps as much as 5-6 months. We also need to factor in Warren. Now that Khan has his scalp and the audience is willing to pay their PPV's again, Im convinced that we will see Khan fighting bums for two more easy pay days and a good old fleecing of the British public. Again though, all just speculation. All in all a rematch sounds fair. If Khan does the same and stops Barrera or decisions Barrera without a freak cut, then there will be NO excuses from me.
I still think Barrera will stop him, or else win rounds down the stretch on the harder punches being thrown and landed.

Then they should rematch then, thought im worried that it will be the end of Barerra's career should Khan win the way I think he will. Barerra has leverage still and could get some big money fights, but if he goes and gets beat by Khan again badly then that takes out all of that.
Rep headed your way for a good debate and a conslusion for both of us to reach that didn't need a flame war to get our points across.
Even if I don't agree with everything you say, you made good points as well .

I don't get why Barerra would say after the fight "I think they should have stopped it sooner."
When it was up to him whether he wanted to continue or not.
Maybe to sell a rematch :dontknow:
I can see a number of things happening. Because it was so bad and wasn't stopped right away and seemingly ignored by the ref and the doc for 4 rounds. They (team mab) could assume they would be expected to continue to fight. Knowing the NC isn't coming they see no choice but to fight on but they also know because the cut is so bad Marcos time in there is limited.
