Cotto might survive a left hook from Pac but can he withstand the onslaught after he get shaken? Im sure Pac wont go to the body like what corley did. Pac is a finisher only JMM has survived after hitting the deck.
If he can solve pac's movement then Cotto might get the job done. but its very very unlikely.
Re: Is Miguel Cotto too BIG for Pacquiao?
For real though, how many times does Manny have to beat guys bigger than him?
People said Oscar at 154 would be way too big for Mayweather regardless of his defensive skill, and the first punch landed would cause him to crumple in the wind. I am sorry, but 20 pounds doesn't make the same difference 80 pounds makes. I could see Mike Tyson or Tua crumpling Mayweather with one punch, but not Cotto.
As a heavyweight I fight guys who are 40 pounds heavier than me, and sometimes they have way less power than light heavyweights.
Re: Is Miguel Cotto too BIG for Pacquiao?
Coto is bigger, younger, tougher than Pacman. I guess at 147 it will be a close and bloody battle, and in my guess it will end up on a controversial SD or a draw.
But pac as we all know has the ability to adapt/evolve depending on his opponents. That makes him a very unpredictable fighter thats hard to pin down from a game plan.
So I still give a very slight edge on Pac. :p
Re: Is Miguel Cotto too BIG for Pacquiao?
i love pac-attack.......and cotto....i think cotto would be to big in close, but pac-attack is a class act...and you never no with the little fella, i'd rather it dont happen just in case pac gets caught and the auro goes......i'd rather cotto take out money mayweather

How is Cotto tougher than Pacman, I don't see how his durability is any better, his chin certainly isn't. Pacquiao has a world class chin.

A year ago I would have thought it was ridiculous, but now I would make Pac the favourite. Amazing. :-\
Cotto doesn't have a CHIN!!??
You must be joking. I have seen him rocked, too, but he has been in there with the biggest punchers of today and stood in the furnace! It's not like Margarito "caught him" with 1 shot. It's not like Mosley never had his moments in their fight... Everyone has landed some big shots, but nobody but plaster hands could finish him off.
Not just loaded gloves hurt him. Corley and Torres turned him into a staggering drunk.
He doesn't have a china chin but he doesn't have a granite one either. Lesser fighters than Pac have hurt him, so it's reasonable to think Pac could.
Re: Is Miguel Cotto too BIG for Pacquiao?
Pacquiao will kill Cotto at catch weight "143-144 pounds"!
On 147 Ibs will be more challenging in both parties. But I still see Pacquiao winning. WHY?
SPEED KILLS!!! and Cotto is a slow boxer. ;D

I'd like to go on the record now and say if Pac fights Cotto at 147, Cotto ruins him!! ;)

If you can remember Juan manuel Marquez has a razor sharp jab. better than Cotto IMO. but did he used it in fight 2? NO he abandoned it w/c is the right thing to do because it almost nullfies the righthook from pac.
Cotto's Jab wont be much of a factor againts Pacquio. if cotto relies on it. Pac's speed and movement will help out in landing a lot of right hook.

Cotto's been rocked by bigger punchers than Manny and has recovered well and quite quickly at that, he's a lot more technically sound than most give him credit for and has adapted well in every fight, IMO his footwork is better than Manny's and he's a natural welterweight, the real question is, will Manny be able to keep coming forward when a true welter backs him up by boxing and not just bum rushing him like Hatton did, don't think in anyway that Pacquiao/Hatton is any indicator of how a Pacquiao/Cotto fight would go

Cotto doesn't abandon his jab, that's the difference and IMO Marquez beat Manny in the rematch, and Marquez doesn't have the power that Cotto does, if Pacquiao said that Hatton hit hard, then he'll sure as hell feel Cotto's power, no use in arguing the fight, seeing how it's not gonna get made, people are starting to let the Hatton win go to their heads with such stupid remarks as "a fight against Cotto would be an onslaught in favor of Manny" or "Manny should fight Mosley as a tune up", i'm not saying Pacquiao doesn't have a chance in beating both, but neither one of them is Hatton, both have a hell of a lot more when it comes to boxing ability and both are naturally bigger and stronger men than Hatton, Pacquiao will fight the winner of JMM/PBF
Re: Is Miguel Cotto too BIG for Pacquiao?
How can you compare their footwork? Manny has faster footwork and Cotto has better balance, but fighting off balance is part of why Pacquiao gets so much power because he puts everything into his left hand.
Cotto is another one of my favorite fighters, but look how easily people ahve landed on him, you can't get away with that against Manny because he won't be landing back at a higher enough rate. Cotto isn't slow with his hands by any means, but his footspeed is really slow because he is always set to punch and he just seems to tight in the bottom half of his body. Cotto has great timing, but you can't argue its better than Manny's, only Marquez has outtimed Manny, and Marquez is much faster and a better pure boxer than Cotto, maybe easier to hit cleanly for conventional fighters, but much faster to the mark than even Cotto is. Also he didn't really outtime Pacquiao that much in their last fight. Cotto showed great timing against Mosley, but he also showed that if a guy with Judah like speed(which pacquiao has) actually wants to throw punches that they can land, and hurt him, but unlike Judah, Manny stops fighters he hurts them(except Marquez).

Is Miguel Cotto too big for Manny Pacquiao?
Hello no, bring on Klitschko, bring on Valuev! The Pacman has defied all logic in with what he has achieved, Cotto would be have to fight a very smart fight to beat Pacquiao. It's Mayweather V Pacquiao that holds the real interest for me.
Re: Is Miguel Cotto too BIG for Pacquiao?
Fighting Manny Pacquiao will put you on a defensive move. And your offense will evaporate. Manny Pacquiao can hit you MULTIPLE TIMES in a blink of an eye and PACMAN punches have POWER to drop you in the canvas. I watch Miguel Cotto fights and he is way behind Manny Pacquiao SPEED!
Miguel Cotto have Power but no speed
and
Manny Pacquiao have SPEED that can become POWER when he hits you. FYI: LEFT AND RIGHT hands http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...cons/icon7.gif
Manny Pacquiao is a complete fighter:
- SPEED
- POWER
- FOOTWORK
- HEAD MOVEMENT
- STRONG BODY
- GREAT CHIN
- OFFENSE CONVERTED TO DEFENSE
name it! Complete Package...

Manny like every other boxer has flaws, one is when he leaps back he keeps his head straight up, IMO Cotto is a better strategist than Manny, and both of them have power in both hands, Cotto has a better jab than Manny, the monster left hook and a very good straight right and uppercut, Manny has a very nice right hook, awesome straight left, and he's working on his uppers, but when it comes to infighting i think Cotto has the edge, and when it comes to actual boxing, i'd say Cotto also has the edge
