In all honesty if I would have said just prior to Ricky Hatton facing Floyd Mayweather that I believed that Amir could beat him, I would have been laughed off the forum.
What about if Khan and Hatton were to fight next? Now people arn't going to be nearly so confident, in fact Khan might even start as the slight betting favourite.
Calzaghe according to you is not a fraction of the fighter that Hopkins and Roy Jones are yet he beat both of them, Steve Collins beat both Eubank and Benn twice each yet few will rate Collins as highly as either.
The fact is timing plays a large part, Khan is on the way up, Marquez is on the way down, how long it takes before the pendulum shifts in the favour of Khan I'm not sure but I'd imagine a fight 18 months from now would certainly be interesting.
I think he's talented aswell i've never said he isn't, but we still don't know how good he is. I give him credit for the Andriy Kotelnik win, and it was a good win over a solid opponent, but theres many more dangerous opponents at 140.

As for JMM well i think the type of fighter he is, even if he shows that he is slowing down. His technical skills alone will get him through most fights, i think its all assumption on your part Bilbo, i think JMM has atleast 3 good ones left in him. And whats to say Amir Khan won't lose by then aswell ?
As for Ricky Hatton i've never really been a fan, and i've never thought as him as anything special to be honest. He was good in the Kostya Tszyu fight, but again the ref allowed him to hold constantly, which worked and was a good tactic. But i've never been overly impressed with him in any fight IMO. And even if Amir Khan were to fight the Ricky Hatton of old, i'd still give him a decent shot.
Well i don't think Bernard Hopkins, is alot better than Joe Calzaghe. But i think the Bernard Hopkins that beat Glen Johnson or Felix Trinidad, would of beaten him, RJJ is a different matter he was almost unbeatable at his best. IMO he would of masscared Joe Calzaghe.
RJJ was shot and everyone knew he was shot, it wasn't a suprise he lost. As many people were calling the fight a farce. Bernard Hopkins is still a very good fighter but he lacks the workrate he had in his youth, which lost him the fight although i thought it nicked it but whatever.
I think Steve Collins is underrated, he was only a novice. And he gave Mike McCallum a good argument. His other losses were too, two very good fighters like Reggie Johnson, Sumbu Kalambay.
I don't count his win over Nigel Benn, because Nigel Benn was clearly finished. After the loss to Thulani Malinga, and his brutal war with Gerald McClellan.
His win over Chris Eubank should be given credit though, Chris Eubank was 41-0. With a combined 19 title defenses at Middleweight/Super Middleweight.
Yes the Michael Watson win affected his killer instinct, but he still was good. As he showed in his brave effort's against Carl Thompson at Cruiserweight.
Lastly i just think its too early to say Amir Khan, has a shot against JMM. JMM is an excellent boxer and i've seen many of his fights, and i've been pretty much impressed with him in all his fights.
His counter-punching/technical fighting, are some of the best i've seen of this era, his heart is the size of Texas. And he isn't afraid of no one, and i don't see how he's on his way down, he fought the fight of his life against Juan Diaz.
Not long ago Amir Khan was getting dropped, by fighters like Michael Gomez. Yes Amir Khan has improved, but again Andriy Kotelnik is pretty ordinary IMO, he's a solid opponent but he doesn't hit hard, nor is he fast. He does nothing that stands out to me, and he was the right opponent for Amir Khan to look good against.
Thats not taking his win away either, i think it was a good performance. But again that performance says nothing about how he would do, against the likes of JMM.
Amir Khan was getting caught late on aswell, imagine if that would of been against a harder hitting opponent ?
Amir Khan has an improved defense and boxing brain, but i still can't see him beating the big boys. Especially with his chin no way IMO.

I'll probably be rooting for Cotto; been a fan longer. But I like Pac alot; and watching him dispose of Diaz and Oscar was fun. The beating he gave Hatton was straight out of Benny Hill I swear. Best man win who cares is how I see it.

I think the only way Cotto wins this if he is effective with his jab. If he lands it I think it will make Pac think before coming in and may knock him down
As far as some people talking about Cotto's chin, I am just not buying that, he is durable. He took some bombs from Margarito and was not knocked down, took a knee but he took some punishment and who knows if the gloves were loaded which makes it more impressive.
I could stir the pot a bit and say if Pac frustrates him he could do what he did in the Judah fight and throw some low shots, that'd slow him down ;)
My guess is Pac takes this by late stoppage due to cuts maybe 10th or 11th.

since when is Pacquiao known for uppercuts? and a left uppercut at that? Clottey is a stronger man than Manny and even he wasn't able to seriously hurt a one eyed Cotto with the uppercut, a punch that he's pretty much known for, Pacquiao has improved leaps and bounds from what he once was, but he still basically uses, the pawing or quick jab without much power on it to set up the straight left, or the now dangerous right hook, IMO those are Manny's only real weapons, the reason he's so dangerous now though is cause of his accuracy WHEN he's calm and collected, the people that are actually thinking that Cotto is gonna share the same fate as Hatton of getting stopped so early or at all are pretty much taking this shit a bit far

Grand....my wife and i have been to mannys last two fights....da la hoya & hatton....i lost both times i bet... o-well we had two free tickets to the fights...."nosebleeds" but what the heck they were free..... i will call the slot host tomorrow and re-quest our two tickets for nov 14th... it should be a good fight..... but i will bet on mr. cotto

I'm thinking the handspeed and straight punching can do some damage,re-open that nasty gash?I don't see Cotto getting knocked out though.I really dont think the weight on these two will be a huge factor and feel confident in saying...with respect to Hatton and Oscar....Manny will face more adversity and a deeper gut check in 2 rounds with Cotto that he has faced over his last 18+ rounds combined.I just see to many patterns from Cotto over last few but should be an outstanding fight,no doubt about it!

I think the 143 weight was just a ploy by Pacquiao to get a little more money on the table and had nothing to do with what most people think.
I'm really excited about this fight! I ready Cotto wasn't impressed with Pacquiao. I just hope he doesn't get aggressively stupid like Hatton.
I thought Hatton would be able to muscle Pacquiao and get tired in the middle rounds. I guess he must have been weight drained, not enough water around his brain to absorb the blows .... hahaha...
