Re: College Football 2009
Anyone want to do a mini prediction contest? I'm sure there would not be too many involved (off hand I can think of Van, Amat, maybe Lyle, maybe VD) but we can just keep the scores week by week and the winner will get a pat on the back from Lyle.
If anyone wants to do it, I'm gonna go by spreads and just fairly meaningful games. Not sure if there would be a set amount of games each week or not.
Winners get 5 points or something I guess and we can do it like the prediction contest, you can pick a joker for each week to put on the one you feel most sure about and also a star game, just the biggest game of the week, I'll choose I guess, and you get double points on both the joker and star.
Home team in bold, favorites always on left
Arkansas -1 Georgia
BYU -6.5 FSU
Auburn -4.5 West Virginia
Notre Dame -11 Michigan State
Virginia Tech -3.5 Nebraska STAR
Oregon -6.5 Utah
Texas -17.5 Texas Tech
Clemson -6.5 Boston College
Oregon State -3.5 Cincinatti
Iowa -6 Arizona
If anyone wants to do it obviously we can change it up some. Make it more selective, , although granted that would probably work itself out as the season gets deeper and bigger games come up.
Also we could just go heads up, no spreads.
If you don't want to do it obviously you're feedback is irrelevant.
Also if we get some responses in today from the people I suspect might want to play, again the Amats, Vans, etc, then we could add Georgia Tech-Miami to the list since its tonight. I made VT-Nebraska the star game, nothing really stood out this week. I thought about adding Florida -26 Tennessee but didn't. Also obviously people can comment on the list of games especially if I get too SEC obsessed or something.
Re: College Football 2009
I'm in, you should make a separate thread with all caps. Also, I agree that Tennessee/Florida should not be on. I doubt we will get this going before tonight.
Re: College Football 2009
U
Lyle you are making me root against Georgia Tech with these ridiculous comments of yours. I would have been rooting for Miami anyways.
Re: College Football 2009
haha me too, kick the shit out of them.
yeah we'll be lucky to get this started before Saturday.
I could make another thread though.
I thought about Cal -12 Minnesota and I probably should have added Iowa -6 Arizona, I just didn't want to research Iowa or Arizona.
But as far as the schedule goes input from other people would be good.
Once the season really gets going it probably won't be hard.
I wonder if I should set a number for amount of games each week. cause say somebody is leading going up to the last week, I'm right behind, I schedule about 30 games in an attempt to make a late surge ;D That would be unfair.
Re: College Football 2009
One of these teams has a chance to win the NC in the next 5-10 years
Re: College Football 2009
and its not Georgia Tech ;D
Not sure I really had to spell that out or not.
Re: College Football 2009
I'm in. And didn't say Georgia Tech this year. They still have things to work out. Give it 2 more years. I'm sure you'll be rocking a yellow jacket by than hoping this thread don't get remembered
Re: College Football 2009
all right I created that other thread to get people who might be interested to notice it but we could even just do it in here.
Anybody think having 10 a week would be a problem? I would add probably Iowa-Arizona this week. Or we could just change it week by week, say no less than 10, no more than 15.
As far as spreads I know they change but I would probably just take the lines from say Wednesday and we'd go with those. Otherwise it would be a pain in the ass.
Re: College Football 2009
This is just Tech's 2nd year running the option...Paul Johnson doesn't even have a team of HIS recruits yet. Don't you worry about Tech, they'll be ok.
Re: College Football 2009
Well it might be just three of us ;D Kind of takes some of the luster of the bronze.
Anyway I guess we'll go 10 games, have added Iowa-Arizona, and 5 points for a winner with joker and star games. I haven't really given that a lot of thought as to whether that's a good scoring system or not but I don't see why it would be a disaster.
Anyway get your picks in before say 11 Eastern Saturday morning.
Re: College Football 2009
Looks like I could get first place this week if I wanted
Re: College Football 2009
wtf I thought I made my picks already? uh oh...ok hopefully I can still get some in lol
Re: College Football 2009
lets just start next week.
I think Alabama's better than Florida this year. There, I said it. :-\
I would have never have said that three weeks ago but oh well, we're scary.

Re: College Football 2009
ECU lost again....we've been getting picked apart in passing defense and we just can't seem to get the offense clicking either. I hope we have better luck next year although we'll have a new QB and backup QB and lose a lot on defense.
Hopefully Tech can rally from that loss to Miami....the U looks mighty tough this season
