1 only emphasises my point. The shot that put him on his arse in the 10th was harder than the shot that supposedly almost killed him. 2, again is what i was trying to say. The pressure Dirrell was under caused him to slip - i should have been clearer
3 - You don't have to be an expert.
He was hit
He looked up at Abraham
He paused
He touched his face
He grimaced like he was in pain
He then theatrically flopped
He proceeded to roll in and out of the ring
He began shaking his leg
He came round a minute or so later
Wouldn't let the Dr look into his eyes
He claimed he'd been ko'd whilst he was down which is odd that he had perfect recollection of what happened considering he was convulsing. In fact, that's very odd. Dirrell appeared to be laying it all on a little too thick. He was also quite vocal which is odd behaviour to show after being knocked out cold.
He then proceeded to become very annoyed by somebody claiming he faked injury, which again, given he had 'suspected' brain bleeding is odd.
The broadcast team managed to grab an interview with the Dr who was supposed to be looking after Andre, which was strange
All tests came back negative. No concussion, no nothing. Which again was odd considering he was out cold convulsing...supposedly.
So no, i don't think i have to be neurologist to make my mind up about what happened.
Very well. Let's say (hypothetically) that you are right, and he acted.
What would you recommend he -should- have done?
May I take a guess in that your answer would be "Get up and continue to fight?"
If that is the case, you and I both know that there is only one likely ending for such a scenario, and that is, Abraham finally getting through with a punch and landing a KO.
Such a scenario -could have- played out even without the hit which resulted in the DQ -however- that hit would have pretty much ended any further useful participation in the fight by Dirrell.
See what Im saying? Especially because of that hit, the end result of the fight would have tipped heavily into Abraham's favor. And that is just wrong.
The DQ was a waaay more acceptable option than getting Dirrell to continue the fight only to be 70% and get KOd.
Well that's the funny thing. It was worthy of a DQ and i have no problem with that. Just Dirrell's response took the shine off what was a very, very good performance, and imo i believe he did it not just because Abraham was coming on strong, but also because the opportunity presented itself and in reality he only had a split second to make the decision and after that he had to go along with it. It was just a really unsatisfying way to what was an exciting fight, especially going into the 12th with Abraham needing a knockout.
Re: Abraham - Justified DQ?
Def a DQ. I was disgusted with AA. Fair enough he should have a the kd rewarded in the 10th but to go on and hit the man when he had clearly been down 3 seconds?? Disgraceful, and he knew he was losing any decision too!!

I dont think Abraham deserves so much criticism for the foul. He was chasing dirrell down and it was in the heat of the moment, a split-second decision. But I havent seen the post fight interviews
And thats the biggest truth I've read here since the fight...I mean does anybody remember Barrera vs JMM...with JMM down after a knock down and Barrera punching him while JMM was on one knee...Barrera got a point deduction(and wasn't credited for the kd) JMM got up again and the fought on...But when Dirrell couldn't or wouldn't get up what else to do than DQ...
Re: Abraham - Justified DQ?
There is a few decisions and things that I don't like about Cole in the match but I can easily see an argument why Abraham has been disqualified, unfortunately...
Re: Abraham - Justified DQ?
Should Arthur have been Dq'd?? had Dirrell stayed upright no perhaps he should have lost a point but as Dirrell went over and ref didn't know if he was really out or not then yes Arthur should have been dq'd but the only real problem i have is the acting by Dirrell it was embarrassing Arthur skimmed his face with a left and he slipped over he then followed through with the right hand. Now here is the acting Dirrell looks at Arthur he squints his left eye then raises his left hand to his face he falls over then rolls under the ring he then does the river dance with his legs. Then as the ref says get the doctor in here Dirrel as if by miracle turns on to his side perhaps knowing if the doc gets near him he will be found out to be acting he then does his best to avoid the doctor shining the light in his eyes then when interviewed he says he was knocked out then someone says no you won then he says yes i was hit while i was down just got his memory back as quick as that. And he kept holding his left side of his face where he had been hit now this was laughable he had been punched for 11 rounds and this 1 punch was making him hold his face no its cos he was highlighting the fact he had been hit on it. The guy is a joke he ran like a scared child against Froch he also did some daft stuff and now this against Arthur he knew Arthur was catching up to him and he could have got him Dirrell didn't want to end up out cold like Jermain and many other against Arthur this oportunity presented itself and Dirrell took it cos he dint want to be 0-2 in this comp.

Gerald McClennan had a similar delayed reaction and grabbing his head in a similar fashion. Sure he was acting too?
Seriously it's like everyone forgot what a delayed reaction is because they want to convince themself that Abraham was gonna come back and win.
Tell me when was Dirrell ever hurt by anything Abraham threw? When was he ever hanging on for dear life? The fact is the only shot that hurt Dirrell or had him in danger was the one he took on the canvas. Abraham was not close to stopping him at any point in that fight.
Re: Abraham - Justified DQ?
It was justified. No question.
Infact, I cant see anyone questioning the call. I wish this poll was public so I could see who voted NO.... Probably some new members named Armin1, 2, 3 & 4 ;)
On another note... Certain peeps need to realise that this whole ''It's irrelevant if Andre Dirrell was acting or not'' argument is kind of irrelevant in itself.
The fact that I personally think Dirrell made a meal of the whole issue has no baring on MY judgement on what happened Saturday night means that I or anyone one of like-minded opinion is perfectly welcome to express the opinion of suspected melo-dramatics.
It's a statement of opinion relevant to my opinion of Andre Dirrell. I was actually really happy with his performance untill his little encore ;)
Re: Abraham - Justified DQ?
The actual disqualification itself was more than justified
But as ive said to so many people over the past 48hours since this happened...
if your going to fall over like a little bitch at every opportunity you cant moan when eventually someone follows through and sparks you out.
No doubt andre dirrells oscar nomination is already in the post

The poll is public: Eloking, GAME, SEB, Tysonbruno and KING-PAC-MAN are the ones that believe the DQ was not justified.
Re: Abraham - Justified DQ?
DQ. It's a simple as this, Abraham aimed at his face when Dirrell was on one knee. That's not continuing momentum. The punch was thrown out of frustration because Dirrell was eating his lunch all night.

Dirrell was not falling all over the place this fight, Abraham was being the biitch in there calling low blow and trying to jump in with head butts. The only times Dirrell hit the canvas was when:
A. He got knocked down, and yes it was a legit knockdown.
and
B. When he slipped in Abraham's corner.
I know macmagician wrote earlier it's a boy cried wolf type thing, which I can certainly understand. But in THIS fight he wasn't falling all over the place.

Actually he sort of did... Dirrell fell over trying to hang on to Abraham at some point late in the fight... I think that is the ungainly sight HTH was referring to.
Didn't he do that against Froch as well?

I'm a huge Abraham fan, or at least I was, but that was a chicken-shit move and he acted like a classless asshole afterwards.
Agreed.
It was a blatant foul.
And though at first it appeared Dirrell may be acting, it was clear later that he was not. He was crying and scared after awaking from being knocked out. And the Doctors were sincerely concerned over his health.
Abraham acted like a punk.
Yes I did see the end of the fight were Jim Gray asked him about the fight and Dirrell started crying "I lost the Fight I got knocked out" The only thing I thought at the moment was damn that might have ended his career he's seriously f**ked if he can't remember what happened.

Are you talking about when their feet got tangled? Also, I put extra emphasis on the THIS fight. Hence the whole boy who cried wolf statement. In the Froch fight he was definately floppin around like a fish out of water.
