Like Diane said in an earlier post.... Floyd isn't stupid. But he sure thinks boxing fans are. Gotta be the only explanation.
I'm not saying he would, or he wouldn't beat Pac. I'm saying he has spent the better part of his prime acting like a spoiled brat, instead of giving fight fans what they crave.... the best against the best. Why don't we feel the need to have these conversations about all the other top fighters?
Answer: Because all the other top fighters just FIGHT. They don't go prancing around like prima donnas, thinking they're bigger than the sport.
You gotta be starved for heroes, when you latch onto somebody like Pretty Boy Floyd.
;)
Maybe he is running into big Money issues right now with all the legal stuff going on with him at the moment. The only fight that would make him a lot of money at the moment would be Pac?
The guy's a fukking loser. Wants Pac to jump through hoops now, like someone else very accurately said. Fukk him. Pac doesn't need his prima donna ass.
Pacquiao doesn't fall too far from Prima Donna status either, and Floyd doesn't really need Manny's ass to sell tickets as shown in every PPV he's headlined, both guys are to blame for this fight not coming off, as of right now Floyd is calling out Pacquiao and making all the noise for the fight to be made, Arum and Manny are running from questions that have to do with the fight and only give bullshit excuses not to make the fight happen, I don't give a fuck why Mayweather is calling out Manny now all I know is that he's finally doing it, Manny was plenty vocal of wanting the fight and that he would take the fight on a minute's notice, so what the hell is the problem, make the fucking fight for May and stop the damn drama
C'mon you know this isn't badminton... it's boxing. Fight me now before I get my ass hauled off to jail just doesn't cut it in boxing. There's a reason fights take a lot of preparation and training. This isn't a gradeschool "meet me outside" fight. This is Floyd expecting Manny to all of a sudden drop everything and rush to fight him under Floyd's timetable. Manny has always been available.... AND.... he's always kept himself busy. Floyd, on the other hand, fights when it suits him. When it doesn't, he goes prancing off.... getting himself into all kinds of trouble and imposing bullshit "retirements" on the fans. Floyd's fans (all 200 of them) will forgive Floyd for whatever he does, and make excuses for the guy left and right. Fan or not, I'd give money to see a diehard Floyd ONLY ONCE come out and say he's tired of Floyd's bullshit. But it's never going to happen. Must've been some brainwashing job.

May is FOUR MONTHS AWAY, not tomorrow. Moreover, Arum was all about "Manny will fight next in May or June, so he can't wait for Mayweather to get out of jail" -- until the jail sentence got pushed; at which point the new story was, "well Manny can't possibly fight in early May because he got a cut in November. And I'd need to build a stadium."
I'm with ElTerrible. I can't stand Floyd but he is making noise now and asking for the fight and there's no legitimate reason for it not to happen.
Re: My motha f**kin man Floyd!!!
"Uto-uto"... this is the word! I've no direct translation, except maybe gullible, but more fittingly in this context is, "bullcrap's buyer ", "manure vendors"... or "excrete facilitators"... one can go on and on.
This is the worst case scenario that we can be as fight fans... it gives these pretenders, supposedly or boastfully GOAT claimants' so many outs that they do not need.
If the sport of boxing is to remain true to the established tennets for integrity... the best against the best, then, this is what it should strive for at all times. In its quest to be represented by the ultimate champion, there is no other, no better blueprint.
Mediocrity plagues the sport as of late, and we can put "uto-uto" type fanatacism equally guilty together with the pretenders who've successfully peddled smoke and mirrors as the source that has plagued this sport.
Stop buying crap... to somehow stop these DUCKINGs for this may force the the hand of these claimants to finally let their SKILL speak louder than their TWEETS! For a change.
Talk is cheap, sign and FIGHT!

And Floyd will probably spark Manny's ass if it DOES happen. I'm not arguing against Floyd's skillset, or even the fact that he's probably all wrong for Manny. What I AM arguing is that Floyd gets cut too much slack. He comes and goes as he pleases, and everyone gives him a free pass. Everybody's quick to forget that it was his own self-imposed exile which probably kept a LOT of good fights from happening. Once he came back, and Manny was widely considered # 1...... THAT was the time for him to say: "Step up punk." But he didn't. And all the hand-wringing in the world isn't going to undo that. He left boxing dangling at the end of his string. And NOW that the fight is a couple of years too late, and Manny had such an un-inspiring performance against JMM....... NOW Floyd is finally calling Pacquiao out.
So if they finally do meet and Floyd crushes Manny.... don't bunch me with the group that is guaranteeing a Manny win. One thing has nothing to do with the other. I WISH Manny would win... but I wouldn't bet the house on it.

I don't know I'm not Floyd but retiring in his prime?? Really? I've followed boxing a long time and I'm yet to come across a Welterweight in his prime at 35. Floyd is no longer in his prime but he will still MASSACRE Pac. It's that simple, he's just far too good and hopefully Pac will step up so he can prove it.

Its not a super fight any more. Pac was at his best three fights ago and now he is a shadow of his former self. I blame the fame and all the congressman bulls+it. Floyd has seen he is passed his best and suddenly grows a pair.
LOL I love how hes a shadow of his former self just coz he fought a tough guy in margarito and a guy who gave him fits in 2 other fights in Marquez...how bout he isnt a shadow at all, he started fighting guys who wanted to fight him...actually fight him and not run away from him the whole fight. ;)
Can you not see it in the way he fights now. You watch him about three or four fights ago. Hes always on his toes constantly with quick in and out punching. The way he fought Margo was deffinitly not him. He should have hardly been touched by Margo but was getting hit often. Not the same guy as before.
Watch his last six fights in a row and tell me you do not see him slowing.

WELL SAID!!! and exactly how i feel.
Re: My motha f**kin man Floyd!!!
Hindsight is 20/20 for every fight and fighter. Excuses were made after Floyd beat someone up badly like say Mosley then it was said Mosley was old and past it but the same also holds true for every fighter. Just like Pac was called by many on this forum as a cherry picking coward when those same people were saying that his opponents at the time like Cotto and Hatton would beat him badly it was after the fact that Pac became a coward and cherry picker after demolishing those guys.
I'm a fan of many sports but boxing fans are the worst bullshitters imo always some lame ass excuse and not giving whoever they dislike props.

I believe the reference was to Floyd's "retirement" following the De la Hoya fight, taking himself out of the game for 2 years in what really was still his prime.

It is too bad that someone blessed with that level of talent hasn't proven it as much as say, Sugar Ray Leonard -- and his legacy will obviously pay for it. But at the same time, he gets cut slack because he's obviously the best fighter out there and has been for years -- the past decade, really.
There's no legit reason for him to have managed his career the way he has. I'd pick him to win easily every fight he's supposedly ducked and he still would have had room for the gimmes against De la Hoya and other big $$, low-risk fights (the fact that that fight got scored a split remains one of the most ludicrous scoring moments I've seen, btw -- that was a clear 9-3 fight).
But his career is what it is and it's water under the bridge. And, despite his talk, he'll never be an ATG because of it (despite having the skill to have been one). He's also a man though and it's really his prerogative to fight who he's going to fight--and he's obviously been doing plenty well $$-wise doing it the way he has. He doesn't "owe" anything to the sport, though it sucks for us he hasn't wanted to give more.

"beat the only person left that he will get real credit for whooping" a long time ago. Why didn't he? Why so many conditions? Where are the conditions NOW? Why does he go into "retirement" in his PRIME, while all other top fighters keep busy doing what they do for a living.....
fight.
Must've been some brainwashing job.
;)
May is FOUR MONTHS AWAY, not tomorrow. Moreover, Arum was all about "Manny will fight next in May or June, so he can't wait for Mayweather to get out of jail" -- until the jail sentence got pushed; at which point the new story was, "well Manny can't possibly fight in early May because he got a cut in November. And I'd need to build a stadium."
I'm with ElTerrible. I can't stand Floyd but he is making noise now and asking for the fight and there's no legitimate reason for it not to happen.
It's all a matter of perspective. I certainly wouldn't argue with you in regards to Floyd not having a spectacular resume, but we no longer are in an era where the best just step up and fight each other. The days of Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Duran, etc...are long gone. Boxing has always been big business and the promoters play a huge role. Sure, it's easy to look at Floyd as an arrogant thug. But he is a very smart in that he makes sure he gets his $$$ for what he does and doesn't get exploited by the likes Arum. I ultimately can't hate on him for that even if it means some fights don't easily get made. The system naturally exploits the fighters. The few that can get to the level of Mayweather or Delahoya in terms of generating lots of money...my hats off to them. I rather fighters get rich than the promoters. All of this doesn't mean that I think Floyd, Oscar, etc. are "good" guys...just that they are smart for looking out for themselves.
