What a massacre.......
I did not watch the final game.
however, I believe that Lebron James looks very old for his age. Would it be crazy to predict that his career is cut short by injuries?
I don't think he looks particularly old for his age tbh, and he has never had a serious injury since he started playing in the NBA so there's no reason to believe he will suddenly be crippled by injuries that will cut his career short. Felt bad for OKC, they didn't deserve to lose like that, though they were not on top form they still scored over a 100 points. Their defense was not as good as it should have been, I think far too many open looks due to doubling up on Lebron and Wade, but you have to say you wouldn't expect Miller to hit 8 (?) 3s and tie Ray Allen's record for most 3s in a finals game. Likewise the shooting from Chalmers and Battier was ridiculous again, their role players stepped up in a big way and I think Harden was disappointing again, especially when we've seen how well he can play in the previous series against the Spurs. You could see how much this defeat hurt them, too, but an image that will stick with me is Durant, Westbrook and Harden all huddled together as the clock was winding down. If they can keep those 3 together, they will be back. And I doubt they will make the same mistakes twice.
LeBron has an "old" face. He certainly doesn't look 27 to me. However, he's in excellent physical condition, and there's no signs that he would be getting "old" anytime soon. The cramping he suffered in Game 4 could happen to anybody. He certainly shook off the effects for Game 5.
I too was rooting for the Thunder, as you know, SRR. But I guess if you're going to take something from this series, it's that at least LeBron gets that huge monkey off his back. I don't particularly dislike LeBron..... I actually dislike Wade a bit more. But yeah.... it was touching to see the OKC guys agonizing over that defeat. I wish it hadn't been the slaughter that it was. They deserved better. One particularly touching scene was Durant hugging his parents in the hallway on the way to the dressing room. It looks like he broke down.... and you gotta remember that for all the fame and the pressure the guy has.... he's only 23. They'll be back next year. Actually, I'm kinda hoping we have a few more Heat-Thunder series in the years to come.
