Absolutely, or Canelo at 154. @
ruthless rocco They are both legacy-improving fights too, whereas taking on the Guerrero's/Garcia's/Alexander's of the world don't do anything for his legacy. Isn't it odd that he won't even answer questions about facing Martinez? He won't even consider it as an option even when Martinez has been calling him out for years.
Maybe because those questions aren't worth answering! The Martinez fight would only happen at 154...a weight that is FAR from ideal for Sergio. Floyd will not accept a catch weight (160) so that is a mute point. Add that to the fact that Martinez is on the slide and now injury prone...Floyd would school him badly. I can't see Canelo staying at 154 much longer (and there is no way he is coming down to 147 as someone suggested earlier). He already has stamina issue and struggling to make weight against a supremely conditioned athlete like Floyd would only make it more one sided in Floyd's favor. Floyd beats Canelo at 154. My point is...that Martinez and Canelo are not evenly matched on the weight issue to make these "legacy" fights for Floyd. Floyd is not going above 154...and to be honest...there is no reason for him to fight guys that will be outweighing him by 20-30 pounds come fight night.
Are you suggesting that Floyd would have an easier time with Sergio Martinez or Canelo than he would with Amir Khan or Danny Garcia? ;D
I clearly rate Martinez and Canelo over Khan and Garcia...BUT i do not see Floyd fighting over 154 EVER. So for the Martinez and Canelo fights to even have a remote chance of happening...it would have to be at that weight. And at that weight...i would have Floyd as the big favorite against either.
Re: Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s next 5 fights- in no particular order!
Canelo, sure. Martinez ain't making WW.

Its about legacy as well and the plus points of them beating mayweather is huge. Take the risk and beat him.
Floyd does not care about legacy it is all about the money. If he can get the same amount for fighting Guerrero than if he risked it against Saul then he will take the easier option.

Would you say canelo resume is better than guerrero resume.?
Saul has proven he is the best at the weight by beating the top fighters, there is no doubt about that. We know Floyd is the best welter, the only real challenges out there are at the wights above and he should earn his big fat contract by fighting outside of his comfort zone otherwise he will bore everyone with 5 fights on points decisions and claiming he hurt his hands as to why he did not stop any of them when we all no he cannot punch hard at all.
Re: Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s next 5 fights- in no particular order!
This morning...Lara ??? Provided of course he takes care of Alvarez, has a toe in the weight and 154 trinkets? Slap me silly but...I'd pay to see that one. Seems more realistic than a Martinez fight. Same network. Style wise it just appeals to me, and would not be near the opponent Mayweathers accustomed to. I'm no fan of Lara, but lastnight was impressive and I think he stepped up a notch. Too soon for him?

I don't think there would be any other selection of fighters worthy of a Mayweather fight. You may wanna throw in a Devon Alexander and/or a Lucas Matthyse, maybe even a Lamont Peterson- but, really, would you wanna see any other selection of fighters between 142 and 154 that you would wish to see Mayweather matched up against?
Well, my list is being checked off on, one by one.
Alvarez, done.
Khan, near done.
