What's up with the Connery hating. I think he is a great actor even though he has the ability to play only one type of character. Plus, who else can have a chest that hairy and women still think he is a sex symbol when he is shirtless. It looks like he has a thousand caterpillars crawling up his chest

Oh well, he's a man that women should probably avoid, but he is hardly Tony Blair. Anyway, GB, I would hardly call Connery one of my heroes. Jason Bourne, for example, is much better than James Bond.
Come on Scotland, don't let the careerist shites try and bribe away your future. They never keep their promises, so do the right thing for your country. You will eventually become like England if you don't and Englands apathy is not your responsibility. Threats, bullying and empty promises is all the bankrupt London mafia has.
Re: Should Scotland stay in the UK?
There are rumours that truckloads of Irn-Bru, Buckfast and Wham Bars have been making their way south of the border to try and create an artificial shortage in Scotland so that the Scots don't have the energy to make it to the polls. David Cameron has officially confirmed that he would be heartbroken if the Scottish people would deprive themselves of these basic ingredients to human survival by voting Yes.
Black market cans of Irn-Bru trading at around £14 Scottish Pounds each at the present moment in time.
Re: Should Scotland stay in the UK?
I swear Miles if you open up a post by saying "Aye" one more time you should be punished by being sent to live in Easterhouse indefinitely.
Re: Should Scotland stay in the UK?
I am trying to get into the Scottish frame of mind. Get into the spirit, you old stick in the mud! :p
Go Scotland, free yourself from the tyranny of financiers who even want to profit from your sickness and who merrily kill sick people because they won't work for free. After all life is work and the corporation deserves your soul! Reject all the horror of the past 30 years and say 'Yes' to freedom. Then in course, dump the pound, have a referendum on the monarchy, screw the EU hellhole, and sell your whiskey, sausages, and tartan to a world that will buy even more as we like what you are trying to do. You will have tourists to see your beautiful country and you will have exports the envy of the world over. Dump RBS as they are insolvent. Let them move to the city of corruption. Why would you want such a fraud? Start your own community banking, maybe use Bitcoin as a main currency and become the centre of a new finance or start your own currency. The options are many and plentiful and rarely am I positive, but I have no hesitation in asking you to vote 'Yes'.
You can do it Scotland, you can do it. Don't miss this beautiful opportunity. All the fear mongers and naysayers are just jealous, they too want to be free. You can actually do it!
Re: Should Scotland stay in the UK?
The people of Scotland have a chance to be free and you want to stick to insults. You sound like the No campaign. Enjoy the privatised NHS, unaffordable education, and the continued housing bubbles. The Scots have a chance to reject this path and it is a positive and proud thing. The Scots shall always be our brothers, but sometimes a brother must lead by example, and you admire and love him even more for it.

So what happens if Russia decide Scotland is theirs?

I would expect the Scots to resist, but the numbers don't lie and it wouldn't be a fair contest. I guess Iceland must be higher up on the list, though Scotland would be a perfect place to counter the despicable NATO expansion into the Ukraine despite this reneging on previous promises to not do so (manifest destiny wills out, I guess). I don't advocate for a minute this happening, but it would be amusing to see how the English feel about it on their doorstep! Of course, Russia likely doesn't want that and Russia being the sporting sorts would give them a vote on joining the team. To be fair to Russia they give such a vote far more quickly and frequently than the English and these days do not invade sovereign countries half the world away. I see no reason for Russia to be an enemy of Scotland, they could be good friends. Russian hate is just a media and political device to distract from domestic tyranny. The 'No' campaign likewise is all hate and threats and I've no doubt they will try and make it nasty for Scotland. However, in the process, they will accelerate their own decline. 'Yes' is the march of progress.
Re: Should Scotland stay in the UK?
I guess its one more day until Scotland gets to choose whether or not they want to continue under the English yoke or whether they want the right to determine their own fate. Personally, I hope I get to see this choice in Wales in my lifetime, though I have my doubts. It's better to be able to choose your own way even if you make your own mistakes than continuing under the rule of another nation in my view.

I think you will get your wish. Scotland tomorrow will choose no, but it will be close. This is going to lead to the 'Devo Max' option, that will be given to Wales and Northern Ireland too. Thus the UK will become a Federal State.
But it will soon be realized that England is far too big in the structure, and thus either England will be represented in the Federal Structure by its regions (maybe even Wessex, Mercia et al), or more likely there will be another Independence vote, with Wales and Northern Ireland also getting a chance to decide. And in that scenario I reckon Scotland will vote yes, and it will be very close in Wales.
Re: Should Scotland stay in the UK?
55-45 for the No's is my prediction.
Re: Should Scotland stay in the UK?
I know there is every chance that the Scots will be sold out by their elite, but don't they have the right to try? Don't they deserve that chance to do their own thing? Seeing people passionate and interested in the debate shows that people can be awoken. The rest of the UK is being sold out regardless and there is seemingly little resistance. Nobody wants a privatised health care system where sickness is about profit, nobody wanted the mail service to go, tuition fees tripling etc. This is all without popular consent and the only way to resist is if at least the Westminster noose is cut free. Scotland has held off so far on some things, but we know permanent austerity and a complete handover to corporations is the agenda regardless of any party. Would we really want Cuba to have just allowed the US to control it? For anyone to sell out on the greatness of the blossoming British welfare state? Scotland seems to have the better attitude on health and education whilst England has turned into a horror show. How can that not be rejected? Just how can you accept tuition fees in the thousands and thousands per year. It is just to control people as debt slaves and to then use health as a bargaining chip for profit? Just no.
If it can in turn motivate the English, then surely that is a good thing too? How can the status quo be a good thing considering all that has happened, it just isn't. Something has to give, I don't understand how much more people can sacrifice for the sake of landowners and bankers who sacrifice nothing. Ever. It's all give, give, give to them with landowners and Wonga ruling it over the poor. Who needs multiple properties? It's absurd, run a hotel if you are into renting rooms.
If Salmond tries to put the Scots in the EU without their consent, then in turn that's up to the Scots. The people are vocal and would seemingly think about their own interests and concerns (as they are doing here). It already happened to us without a choice and we suck it up and take it, and take it (though the EU was more stealth and people now know the score), but the Scots are here trying to say 'No, your system is despicable' and that is a start.
There are better models like Iceland and Switzerland to follow, countries that actually have a modicum of concern for the people. Small countries that do very well. There are Scandinavian countries that use oil for the people whilst we use it to fund murder. You don't have to sell out to a global model that will ultimately destroy the goodness and beauty and dignity of fine individual countries.
If England thinks it can be richer, then why are they so desperate for Scotland to stay? They care only about money and themselves because all they do is turn the screw. Does Cameron care about people? He hasn't so far, so why now? Only the elite have fared well under this mans jurisdiction and now he speaks of Scots as a 'family' and then at the same time makes threats against them like the father that raises a fist to the child? 'I love you, but I will punch you if you don't do what I want!' says Daddy with a malevolent grin. Lovely man.
