Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
He completely cleaned out the cruiser division and then started whacking the giant heavies around. That's a little bit respectful!
Most all former cruisers that move up to heavy are always featherfists, even Holyfield, but Haye seemed to carry his power with him as well as his speed. Not that durable but so good he didn't really get hit much anyway!
Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
Did you say "that is a little bit disrespectful"? Read your posts about Joe Louis, Joe Frazier, Ali and say that again.
Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
LOL I catch your drift but I did in fact mean that what Haye did was a bit "respectful". I can see how ironic it would have been were I to have taken offense though lol

Did he fuck!
There was Steve Cunnigham who was also a world champion at the time. He held the IBF title.
Haye wanted no part of him after he had knocked out Marco Huck.
Always bugs me when Haye and idiots call Haye the undisputed champ because there was another very good fighter around he completely side stepped.
Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
You still haven't told me how Mormeck is more skilled than Louis.
How can anyone say this is a strong HW era when a clumsy oaf like Tyson Fury is a contender?

Again, you do realise in the current landscape of boxing how difficult it is to become undisputed holding all 4 major belts at the time and keeping them? With one belt forcing you to fight someone and then another threatening to strip another? Things were a lot simpler back in the day. I don't think Haye sweated Cunningham! Fuck, look at the performance of Haye by comparison! No matter what he did you will always find some minor little issue to pick on, same for any other current and recent fighter but you can somehow choose to overlook the vast and more serious problems that would be encountered by your past time heroes.

He has much better movement, he is more solid in defense, Louis couldn't avoid a right hand. He is more fluid and has far better coordination. You can see this by actually watching him with a critical eye rather than just bashing him.
Tyson Fury an oaf so how could it be a good era if he is a top competitor?
Foreman was a top competitor in the 70's, not exactly a technician.
Liston in the 50's, the champ!
PRimo Carnera in the 30's!
Fury is not inferior skillwise to any of these men.

You could then! This was 2007!
You said he cleaned out a division...
He only fought two of the top ten at that time, avoided another champion, only had two world title/championship level fights and never defended those titles together.
Hardly cleaning out a division.;D

Fair enough then, I wouldn't say he avoided him though, I'd say he achieved enough there to be considered the top dog by far. He was better than Adamek and Cunningham with any serious reflection. Close enough for me :)

He was stopped by an ancient worn out Carl Thompson. He was not guaranteed to beat any of the other top cruisers at the time. Huck, Bell, Braithwaite, Cunningham, Adamek, all could have beaten him.

Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
And now we're just having a dig at David Haye.
Well I think it's rubbish and I'd back Haye against most any of your old favourites anyday! That's all I can really say now.
This was about Wlad breaking Louis' record. In my eyes he's already doubled the HW record. And in my eyes he is only a few fights away from topping it in total.
If you guys wanna put more stringent restrictions on him that's your call, everyone knows who worked harder than who. Not many of Louis' defences even really should count as a defence the opponent was so bad!
37-30 Musto... 174lb Conn... and so on! Please!
As for Haye, you know he was green and Thompson was a veteran at the time and both were CW. That was his ONLY pro loss besides Klitschko, the most dominant HW champ of all time who outweighed by 35lbs and outtalled by 3"!
Ali on the other hand lost to cans when he WAS seasoned and was dropped by a 185lb guy when he weighed over 210!
Let's all laugh at Ali for losing/struggling with a midget pudgy handicap with no power or chin!? No no can't do that now! ;) Double standards!

Apart from Carl Thompson?
;D
Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
I would back Haye against Thompson in any rematch of course!
Is Buster better than Mike? No.
Is Rahman better than Lewis? No.
Is Sanders better than Wladimir? No.
Is Byrd better than Vitali? No.
Is Ruiz better than Holyfield? No.
And similarly Thompson is not better than Haye.. He just beat him once!
