Floyd is pretty much done with boxing. I believe he's gone on record as saying that he doesn't enjoy the sport, and hasn't for some time. He is however, in the very unusual position to be able to profit from his boxing skill, talent for self promotion, and the current fixation on boxing vs UFC. He can make himself a shit tonne of money by promoting a mega fight against McGregor--a man who has followed Mayweather's blueprint for self promotion.
Now, boxing fans are mad a Floyd for not fighting all the biggest and heaviest fighters, or the current crop of top prospects. But he's not interested in boxing, or pleasing fans. He's put his health and life on the line for over 20 years of professional prize fighting, and now he just wants to make money. He doesn't want to take any more damage to his brain or body simply for your entertainment. He doesn't want to make other men (management, promoters, gamblers, etc...) a bunch of money by being beat up. He just wants to make money. Which is completely sensible -- but so many people have bought into Floyd's "Money" Mayweather persona, that they hate any, and everything he does.
What Floyd understands, and what many many boxing fans don't, is that prize fighting is about money. Fighters fight for money. Not glory, not to have the picture on the green belt, not to have an amazing set of statistics. Money.

Does it matter? they were all great fighters, the likes of whom, Floyd, whatever one thinks of him, never had a chance to face.

Look it up yourself. It should all be there as fighters weighed in on the day of the fight back then. I'd say there was a 4-5 pound difference for Gavilan & Napoles from their opponents. I do know there was a 10 pound difference for Armstrong.
Duran started around 119.

I think the difference between present day weight cutting/day before weigh-ins, and the disparity between contract weight and fight night weight is extremely relevant if you're going to compare these fighters from eras gone by and contemporary fighters.
Would anyone agree?

Floyd was pretty much done with boxing when he signed that fat contract picking and choosing his opponents.
Boxing fans know that it is a business but they are disappointed at Floyd's pretence that he is an ATG.

I think the World has gone stone cold fucking crazy! I don't know why anyone with half a brain would want to actually see that fight. Now, I know the MMA fans would want to see it, and that frankly proves what I said about anyone with half a brain, but a boxing fan who knows everything there is to know about Floyd? Let's be fair, MacGregor probably wouldn't even be a good enough boxer to become Irish Champion, definitely not British level, yet in his first Pro fight under Queensbury rules, we expect him to make a fight of it against a guy who until he retired almost 2 years ago, was undisputed p4p #1 in the World?
