AJ does bring boxing to the mainstream and is a high profile star that brings money into the game.
That's the rebuild he needs. Self-awareness and mental make up..it's essential to keep on point at the highest level. Psychiatrically, this is so true. Emotional problems sometimes run much deeper than mere Yes Men issues. In those cases, it is almost impossible to get on track, but I guess Fury with his problems managed to get back on track so maybe AJ can do it too.
No keyboard whitecoat here ;D but it's clear there's a ton of luggage to unpack. And if you're frankly gearing up for one more career run in your 30's...get it all out and in the clear. Make himself whole and in tip top form with the mind set. Then go work on your pecs and bending the knees. May all be moot though as ol Eddie is going remind him of his signature every morning. Fighters still have a future after the leather stops flying and the yes men fade away.
100% agree, it is a TON of luggage. Yes, why does he not bend his knees FFS? He fights like a robot FFS. GET RID OF the Yes Men, totally, get your shit together, going on 33 years old and need to string together some impressive wins, don't even need to be knockouts, just win big a few times now, try to get back the confidence. Then a title shot. Even before that, rest and meditate a while, see what is wrong. See if you have that fire necessary. Killer instinct. Agreed he has one more career run. Throw combinations like Marciano FFS, to use AJ's own words.
To be fair he did make improvements in the ring and did well with small additions like the bending and selected body focus. I have no idea what goes thru his head and to my knowledge he has not been diagnosed with anything at all. Now the killer instinct is spot on and that was the elephant in the room going into this one as the consensus was..you must use size and follow thru. Make it physical and imposing. The walk thru the fire. I very much doubted it was in his mental make up now. And then Saturday..there we are. Why is it lacking, I have no Earthly idea. But it speaks to his reaction afterwards and total emphasis and almost resentment of his clear power and 'strength' being the focus. What he needed the most in the match imo he lashed out against outside of it. While he's already shown he can be patient and backfoot box an Andy Ruiz with same strength at top level you have to be willing-able to flip it back. Going to really interesting where he goes and what they line up.

Yeah he made a few improvements but it was definitely not enough in any way and the one judge Feldman who had 115 for Joshua you have to wonder......🤔🤔
He may not have been diagnosed with anything but clearly his behavior at the end is indicative of a kind of emotional problem and his perception of his self-image, etc. It takes skills to win in boxing so how did you beat me? How did you beat me? He asked repeatedly. This simply implies that he feels his skills are unbeatable and he doesn't know how usyk beat him. It's a total detachment from reality. I gave him credit for the body shots it was a brilliant strategy and in the 9th round definitely paid off well. He should have tried to push him in the first 30 seconds of the 10th round. When he landed that jolting left hook coming as you rightly said at the time, he just sat back and admired his work.
Here is what usyk said a couple of hours ago:
"I'm not sure why Joshua was reacting like that. He was very aggressive to some of my people. I saw him a bit emotional and like bullying some of my teammates.
“That would be a bare-knuckle fight that I don’t recommend him to do because most of them are horrible street fighters.”

Bottom line unfortunately for Aj is Joshua finally showed his true colours, the throwing of the belts was childish and petulant and the bizarre speech was damn right disrespectful he totally stole Usyk’s moment. He performed better than last time but that wasn’t difficult, he was shit in the first fight, Usyk has his number all day long and rarely looked troubled tbh

Well you have to understand what AJ is. AJ is a guy who BOTTLES up his emotions. He's not a Fury or Chisora or a Whyte or what Tyson was. AJ contains his feelings. He doesn't let it out. Always easier to say what you would do when you aren't in the ring against one of the most skilled big men in the history of the sport in Usyk. AJ fought well and lost a close decision to a great fighter and then had difficulty handling his emotions when reality set in. I wish he had handled it different (as does he), and I understand the criticism of those actions, but I can empathize with competing and giving your best, fully believing you will prevail, only to realize the other competitor IS JUST BETTER. When I did it I was in the amateurs and in front of thousands, not millions of people and I handled it worse than AJ did by far (which is why I'm likely more sympathetic/empathetic). AJ should get some negative press for his actions (he seems to be accepting the criticism and taking responsibility), but the guy isn't a disgrace and we should give him the chance to redeem himself. James Butler is a disgrace to the sport. Panama Lewis is a disgrace to the sport. Antonio Margarito is a disgrace to the sport. Joshua is nowhere near those guys- he had an emotional and unfortunate reaction to a tough loss.

I would have him fight a no name- easy knockout fight next. After that fight I would have him move up and take on a lower top 10 fighter- Michael Hunter maybe. Third fight would be maybe Ruiz 3 and then I would make the Wilder fight. I feel like Fury will be retired by that point, but if he gets past Wilder then push for the Fury fight and call it a career. Usyk will retire after Fury and Fury will retire until a big money fight with AJ presents itself. Unless Fury gets super fat and can't get his reflexes/stamina back I don't see AJ winning that- Fury is his worst match up in the division (literally everything that AJ isn't).

He'd do well to focus on just the one as first step. Fighters at the highest level today fall into the trap of plotting the best-case scenarios and get ahead of it all. AJ is in a long list that has seen it all go arse end up because they're often letting promotion, suits and some media divas be the loudest voice in their own room. Give Eddie a gag. Go squash a lower guy then enjoy the holidays keep it humble. Ruiz and Wilder will have sorted their business so line up, but Fury can feck right off at this point. Done with his song and dance.
