Good morning everyone...my cable went out at right about the 6th round...& I couldn't get the rest of the DRBR up because the whole network was down. I had a picture...just no internet hookup!

The Ouma fight was beautiful...in it's ending...I want to have an Ouma discussion on another thread which I will post a link to momentarily...but be that as it may...I was disgusted with the Forrest Quartey fight...honestly...I feel that that was another HBO/Golden Boy set up similar to the Oscar Sturm fight which led to the Hopkins Oscar Super fight.

Well De La Hoya is ok isn't he?

I heard the Goldenboy was just about perfect in every way, ::**

Three things, first I liked Mabuza before this and I still like him a lot. He's got real heart, and it wasn't like he lost every round in the two fights, he had some success in the last 2 rounds of the first fight and he won some middle rounds in this one. But Marquez has just got scary power for a guy his size. He knocks Gonzalez, bit of a shaky chin, the fuck out IMO.

Second I enjoyed the Ouma fight and he looked good in some ways. But it annoys me that at times he gets lazy on defense. He can be pretty slick at times, but last night it seemed like he felt Powell's power, realized it wasn't gonna bother him and just went full offense. Its not a good idea in the long run even though he is an offensive fighter. But offensively he was very good, and he pretty much dominated and took Powell's will away over the course of the fight. Interested to see if he can make 147 and not be at a size disadvantage like he is against most 154 pounders.

Third, Ike got jobbed. I'll admit I don't like Forrest and I was rooting for Ike, but still Ike had the much more effective punches IMO.

Interesting. I on the other hand think Oscar is a hell of a promoter & has done a shatload for fighters & has already thrown out some great cards & givin a lot of fighters a lot of exposure...Valero being one.

There's a reason that Oscar let him go & there's a reason that no one wants to sign him...watch him fight...it should be as plain as the nose on your face...it's only a matter of time & he's gonna get outboxed Tito vs Winky style.

I can see where you are coming from and maybe it is just a phase I'm going through but for the moment,I can't stand Oscar at all! As for Valero,he can box too,you shall see in his future fights,this guy is not 1 dimensional!

I pretty much despise him too. Don't really know why, but there it is.

I tried to sell him a Lowe's business credit card this summer. Worked as a telemarketer for about a week as a second job before I quit cause it was the world's most boring job. I don't know man...I think that it's fairly hard to despise or hate someone like Oscar unless youv'e had some personal experience with the man.

I've never seen the bad side of Oscar & I just believe that Oscar is really good for boxing...no...I know he's good for boxing & he's also done a lot of outreach programs.

I've just got a lot of respect for the guy. I'm sure he's done some bad...but he's probably done more good than bad in the end.

I'm sure he has been good for boxing, not questioning that. I've just never been a fan, but he's not at the very top of the list of fighters I dislike, like Judah, Tarver. But for whatever reason I've always disliked him.

I had that round 9-9 too--I think Forrest won it other than the low blow. But that's the least of it--Ike clearly won the majority of the other rounds and should have won the fight. It's not about the judges' cards on one round--it's about the way they scored most of the rounds. Like I said, I had the 9th round 9-9, but I still had Ike up by 3 points.

I didn't know how to score the soto/ouma fight. Even thought ouma threw a hell of a lot of punches, they were all piddy pat punches and he bored the hell out of me. I thought soto landed some hard punches, but he did not throw enough. I thought this was soto's fight for the taking. He wasn't hurt by ouma the whole night, yet he let this one slip through his hands by not outhustling ouma. I thought forrest did enough in the second fight to win by 2 rounds.
