3-1 Arsenal came from behind to win...
Smashup must be torn right about now...
I think the league is wide open this year, there is not that many easy games.
Also Chelsea vs. Blackburn is 0-0 in the 90th minute...
In other footy news Madrid is 0-0 in the 19th minute vs. Almeria.
AC Milan had to come from behind to salvage a draw as they found themselves down 1-0 from early on in the game. Nesta scored in the 90th minute.

I was not so sure. Henry was our main man but it goes to show
a.) Arsene Wenger is P4P ATG when it comes to creating stars and selling them at the right time.
b.) the younger players looked up to Henry waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much and whenever they had the ball,,their first instinct would be where is Henry? Now they are able to express themselves more and are a lot lot better for it.
Obviuously it's still very very early in the season but last season we started so bad,I'm just happy to see us winning. I will NEVER question Wenger's decision again. This team reminds of the young United team with Becks,Keane, the Neville's,Scholes. They were all youngsters growing up together and look what they went on to do. I'd love even a fraction of that success!
BTW,yesterday, you asw why Arsenal fans love and hate Adebayor. He missed a few good chances, including one sitter but then he's good in the air, strong, great movement and he scored that goal of the season contender!

For me Arseanal will always struggle with the style winning the physical battles against the not so pretty teams, I still predict 4th for Arseanl, on another day Spurs could of scored 5, that game could of ended up 5-4.

lol mate fergie is the ebst at selling them, wenger only sells when he has to, I.E the players don't want to be there anymore, wenger didn't sell the likes of Anelka, henrey and viera because he could see them slipping and figured he would cash in, he done it cause they wanted out. Hell if they wanted to stay and wern't fucking about they would all be there now.
Wenger is p4p of one thing tho, the oposit of what you said, hes p4p for buying them young, cheap and unknown.

You boys will be alright. You just have to not panic and fire the Dutchman. He's half the reason you had high expectations. Plus you have a lot of players out.

Re: The Premiership Football thread
Sometimes I wonder why I decided to become a Tottenham fan, F***'s sake they can be frustrating. Seems like they've been a bit unlucky too though, how many goals could Berbatov have? He had the one cleared off the line, had the one where he tried to beat Toure, got screwed versus Manchester United, just goes on. Gotta find somebody to replace Jenas though, cannot stand him.
At least Clint Dempsey's doing well for Fulham but not really a Fulham fan.

We'll see about Arsenal not doing well against "tough" teams.

I can't believe somw Arsenal fans wanted Jenas!!!! I'm so glad we did not get him. Berbatov' isn't going through a bad luck phase,he just seems to be missing full stop. Why he wanted to dribble Toure there is beyond me.
Tonight is a good test for our defence,we are facing a team that scores goals for fun. Goals from everywhere! I think it'll be our toughest test so far.

that's true about the Toure one but I meant more like overall Tottenham just doesn't seem to be getting any breaks. I mean the last goal in the Fulham game was ridiculous but then again that wasn't all just bad luck, Jol taking out Keane was not a good move, game seemed to turn after that.

I'm not your typical West Ham fan. Not too excited until we're safe from relegation....
Down on our forums they're talking Europe but we've only played Man City, Brum, Wigan, Reading & Boro. No seriously teams yet (don't mean to be disrespectful to the above) but our next few weeks will prove more.

In other footy news, Robben has made his debut with Real Madrid today he played OK.
He started off well, but then he kinda got a little lost.
But all is good, I think hes gonna work out for Madrid.
Also I know I've mentioned this before but here it is again.
Guillermo Ochoa has got to be the best Goal keeper at this time.
Heres a quick Highlight video

Re: The Premiership Football thread
Anyone seen the Italian Football show they have on Channel 5 on Sundays? Reminds of the good old Sunday morning show,Gazzetta Football Italia(anyone know what happened to that?)
I know,I know,it was only Derby, but,Arsenal were not beating teams of that calibre last year. It was refreshing to see although I still wonder about 2 things: the strenght in depth on the wings and Walcott. I know he's young and he showed some awesome speed but he falls over easier than that pussy Robben!
Chelsea will buy in the Jan transfer window, there will be movement there and I guarantee that Roman will try and buy a star, because a.) he thinks that resolves all problems at a team, paying big ££££ for a big name player and b.) He'll try to get the team over Mourinho. Ronaldinho hasn't been doing well at Barca for some time.... ??? and Lampard wanted to go there??
Anyone know if there is any substance to the rumours that Terry,Grant and a few others had Mourinho kicked out? We'll also find out what kind of loyalty Chelsea players hae. You alreayd have the one season wonder Drogba talking about not being sure on his future.

And also,I'd like to say,Fuck David Dein, that Russian dude and anyone else trying to buy our club. They can F off. Wenger wants to do things the right way,not buy a title. And we dont need their £££(and thei debt) This article proves why:
http://www.teamtalk.com/football/sto...752001,00.html
It's boom time for top Gunners
Arsenal's turnover topped £200million for the year ending May 31, 2007, with group operating profits up by an astonishing 274% to £51.2million.

Re: The Premiership Football thread
I was watching some videos on my I-Pod today and I started wondering about some names and what people here thought about them.
Now I've followed footy possibly as long as I've followed boxing since I was a kid.
I got more into EPL years back around 1995, But I didn't follow it as closely as I do now.
I know La Liga & FMF the best followed by EPL & Calcio.
Anyway was wondering for people who have been following whatever league it may be if you've followed EPL, La Liga and got some feed back for me I'd really appreciate it. I'm just gonna throw some names out there and just give me your thoughts I'm not looking to critique you or anything like that I just would like to see what other people have to say even if it's just one word.
Thanks... 8)
Eric Cantona
Denilson Araujo
Dennis Bergkamp
Ruud Van Nistelrooy
Alan Shearer
Thierry Henry
Robin Van Persie

Eric Cantona - Inspirational big game player
Denilson Araujo - Which one is this? The older one is an underachiever and the younger one (at Arsenal) is a future star.
Dennis Bergkamp - Beautiful skills and vision.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy - Horse faced assassin
Alan Shearer - Old style English centre forward
Thierry Henry - A legend. Complete player
Robin Van Persie - Can only get better under Wenger.

Eric Cantona
Denilson Araujo
Dennis Bergkamp
Ruud Van Nistelrooy
Alan Shearer
Thierry Henry
Robin Van Persie
Cantona - him and Henry best imports the Premiership has ever seen, Cantona was so influentail to Uniteds fortunes in the early 90's.
Denilson - To young to judge just yet not really had much of a chance to shine, could have a big future.
Van the man- Probably with Sherer best goalscorer the premiership has seen and still doing the business at Madrid, still a legend in United fans eyes.
Alan Shearer - great player great goalscorer, maybe should of tries his luck at a club who were fighting for trophies everyyear, but respect the man he played for the club he loved.
Henry - WOW!! Amazing player him and Cantona as i stated earlier the best two imports ever, genius had it all ( still has) power skill speed great finisher great touch, probably will win the Champions League with Barca this year.
Dennis Bergkamp -Another great player probably just a notch under Cantona and Henry in the best player to grace the Premiership pure class and probably has 5 out of the top ten goals scored in premiership history.
Van Persie - the new Bergkamp?? Well he has the potential to be, different sort of players but Van Persie has everything has to kick on now hopefully stays injury free and light sup the Premiership this year.
-
Re: The Premiership Football thread
Eric Cantona- Genius. Wonderful footballing talent.
Denilson Araujo- if this is the Arsenal one, then he is a superstar in the making and going to be a huge player for us one day. I called him ages ago, when I first saw him. If it is the other one,the only word that comes to mind is:underachiever
Dennis Bergkamp- the most technically gifted player in Premiership history. Possibly one of the greatest bargains too. A once in a lifetime talent. GENIUS.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy- a goal scoring machine. The ultimate poacher with P4P one of the best goal scoring records in Premiership history. Probably one of the best players ever in and around the area(but a prick/pussy at times)
Alan Shearer- One of the most under rated players. Incredible goal scoring record. SHould have gone to United though.
Thierry Henry- Best player in Premiership history and 1 of the greatest players of all time. And a testement to how amazing a manager Wenger is. Look at his goal scoring record, his goals and then remember: he was a winger before he came to Arsenal and every one called him a flop in first season and said we wasted out £££ on him.
Robin Van Persie- Potential to be amazing and the closes anyone will get to Bergkamp. Watch his brace v Blackburn from a last season or his goal v Charlton,Bergkamp like.
-
Re: The Premiership Football thread
Cheers! to the 3 of you for your responses...
Denilson Araujo is the 'older' one the underachiever. ;)
Really happy to read your responses and see that theres other people out there who respect these players and give them the credit they deserve and or will earn.

Re: The Premiership Football thread
In other footy news...
Madrid beat Betis 2-0 and Robben played his second game.
He played lovely man, I love how his foot speed and style has blended well with the team. He had a goal called off, he was caught off side....
Saviola played well, Snijder has been playing well....
Speaking off Snijder had scored in all of his 1st 3 starts as a Madrid player and then by orders of upper Management they instructed Chuster to rotate players... >:mad WTF??? and they sat out Snijder....
Now Snijder is trying to get back into his rythim...
J. Baptista whoa!! I mean has this guys career finally started to unravel?
I mean when he was picked up by Madrid he played like shit! now about a yr. later hes playing like a mad man....
Today he scored what IMO so far looks like the Goal of the season... SO FAR.
-
Re: The Premiership Football thread
Sneijder has been awesome. Baptista suits the Spanish league,he was not good enough for the Premiership. And he's like that. He'll score a hat trick, like he did for us,v Liverpool and then he'll not score for ages and fluff chance after chance. I think all Arsenal, myself included were greatful he left.
Oh,and I noticed you asked about Rosicky earlier,he's injured.AGAIN >:mad But I'm hoping we have enough back up :D
And I LOVE Bredtner,Eduardo and Denilson.Just wanted to get that off my chest. Good test for us this weekend,West Ham away. We lost there last season so this should be a measuring stick for us.

West Ham are so proud that we were the last to beat Arse at Highbury and the first to win at the Emirates. It is special for us to beat the big boys.
As you know I think Arse will do great this season. I think they'll win 3-1 at Upton Park this weekend...
-
Re: The Premiership Football thread
I think it'll be 2-0 to Arsenal. One of our defenders will score. I don't know why,I just have a feeling.

Incase anyone of you missed them heres the last 2 goals Baptista has scored.
Both quality goals, top of the line.... 8)

Re: The Premiership Football thread
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! We are grinding rsults"!!! We are scoring headers?! We are taking long range strkes rather than walking the ball into the net!!! Van Persie is amazing!! I'm very pleased with our performance although I still feel United will win the title.Even though Nani,Anderson and Tevez have been poor/average at best.
Portsmouth v Reading=match of the season! And Henry scored a hat trick v Getafe! I think I've having an information overload with boxing,football,MMA!! :o :o :o :o :o :o

Re: The Premiership Football thread
Eric Cantona: The greatest premiership player ever
Denilson Araujo: One of the best players of his era, unbeliveable for Brazil. Shame he went for Betis instead of a bigger club.
Dennis Bergkamp: Incredibly skilled, amazing first touch. Scored wondeful goal and great vision.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy: The best prem goalscorer ever. Mr. Right Place, Right Time
Alan Shearer: The same as Ruud but could sore all kind of goals
Thierry Henry: WOW, I hate him but what a player
Robin Van Persie: Unproven as of yet but looks a great talent
P.S. Chelsea for the Champions League, even if our manager looks like Uncle fester from the addams family

That was a great result. Scottish football is definitely on the rise both with the big two but also the strength of all the young players coming through.

Wow! a lot of surprise results today...
Madrid was up 2-1 and Lazio managed to get the draw... >:mad
Liverpool lost
AC Milan lost - But I think it's being reviewed by the board in reagards to what the Celtic fan did. What a cunt that fan! Celtic Team should pay the consequences.
Chelsea came back to beat Valencia 2-1. Drogba does it...
Olympiakos beat Bremen 3-1
