What are the commentators & judjes smoking, jees. Oscar looked a old man in there. No way on that performance does he deserve a shot at mayweather.
It would be a insult to boxing if he fought mayweather next with guys like cotto, magarito waiting who actualy deserve a shot.

Hope you enjoyed the RBR maybe if Wacko is going to stay away I can make those fairly regular I enjoy doing them.

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
I think what disgusted me even more than the commentary during the fight was the outpour of love by HBO for Golden Boy Promotions after the fight. I really hope the whole Golden Boy stable loses in every big fight they have. I pray GBP without their stable of old fighters turns into nothing.

LOL no mate but I can see how one might think so...
I just hated this whole thing...DLH wanted a showcase opp for himself...which is fine but then he acted like that was not the case...
The announce team was even calling it like it was in the beginning then somewhere about the Th rd they started to become the DLH bandwagon....It was shit and that was it...Forbes was chosen as a gimme opponent....I don't expect them to come right out and say so but I certainly do not respect them going out of their way trying to sell it as something different...Who the hell were they trying to kid us or themselves:-\
Crap like this gives the sport WWE appeal....Whats next DLH Vs the Big show as part of his 3 final bouts......so they can use the fact both him and PBF faced the 7'5" giant in a WWE PPV as something to talk about while we all try to keep our eyes open during the rematch...
Just stresses me out is all...
We have real fighters like Vazquez/Marquez 3 earlier this year...Cotto and Tony ready to go to war...acting like real champions should then we have the golden charade....
I officially boycott any of DLH bouts from here on out
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
This brings more credit to my conspiricy theory that DLH had money on Mayweather when they fought..
"It just wasn't the night of the jab" WTF??? He dominated Floyd with it for 2 or 3 rounds then stopped.... Tonight he obviously used to to great success...
ODLH & MAYWEATHER fights are the biggest farce in boxing right at this moment... A bigger farce than this fight.. At least Forbes has a heart and wants to actually fight his way to victory...
Mayweather and Oscar are so green with the $ figure coming to them at the end of the ass fucking session in the ring in front of a huge crowd, that they honestly don't give a fuck who wins or loses...
"it wasn't the night for the jab.. Even though I was kicking his ass with it, I just didn't feel like throwing it for the next 3/4 of the fight" F/off DLH and leave the fighting to boxers who's undies are stained with the skidmark of their own "greatness" & "wealth"....
I for one, will not be swept up in ANY OLDH vs Mayweather II at all... It's a money making farce.... And Floyd is not my P4P one because he's a pussy.. He was number 1, but unless he wants to fight any genuine challengers, he can f/off,,, because DLH is NOT even close to being a genuine challenger...
Daxx has said it all on this fight though...
Respect to Forbes!!
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
From that performance, I only see Floyd beating Oscar worse. I know Oscar would be more concerned with Floyd's power than Forbes, and keep his guard a little tighter, but Forbes did land some good clean power shots. Plus, Oscar's eye was looking bad, lol. Oscar clearly won, but hats off to Forbes, I truly hope he gets a shot at 140.

I would try my best to get a game if I were you. I tried desperately to get to Warriors playoffs last year but couldn't because the only way to get tickets was if you knew vendors. My friend got courtside seats from Oracle who recently bought out his dad's company. Lucky bastard was 2 rows back behind Jessica Alba.

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
If Oscar wants to impress why doesn't he fight a htreat like Ricky Hatton. Im pretty sure Oscar could have gotten someone better then Steve Forbes...
Someone with a pulse like a Clottey or some other 147 pounder its a good division why did he pick a former super featherweight?
Because Mayweather used to be one?

great stuff guys, reading through this thread has made my sunday morning.
Dax is fucking hilarious
I tried so so hard to stay a wake for that one - excellent undercard fights aided my cause a great deal. But by round 3 of the oscar fight i knew the result was nothing more than a dull jab fest that would lead to a comfortable oscar victory.
Credit to forbes he fought a great contest and deserves every penny he earnt from this fight, would not be surprised one bit to see him winning a world title. But thats hardly a major accomplishment when you consider that they are given out like sweets nowadays.
I had it 118-111 and like 99% of this forum was not the slightest bit impressed with that performance from oscar.
Know it sounds kinda odd but i strangely see oscars chances of beating floyd have now improved. He needed that confidence fighting someone with a similar style to PBF and im quite sure given a rematch he can overturn that 1-2pt deficit.

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
One thing that pissed me of just watching the venue.....was the huge areas of empty wide open space that were closer than the seats people paid 25 bucks for. Seems like a waste of space the fans could have occupied and had better view. It just bugs me to see empty seats, they should have some kind of move up policy.
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Fuck's sake HBO was really trying to sell Oscar-Floyd 2. Did anybody really think Oscar looked as good as they were making him out to be?
Looked poor to me, reflexes looked slower than usual.
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Forbes was game, but Oscar couldn't put away an opponent who was: 1) undersized, 2) light-hitting, and 3) hand-picked. He'll lose a second decision to Floyd, and retire before risking getting in the ring with Cotto.
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
OK loved the fight and the way ODH preformed as its gonna be great odds on Oscar for the rematch and i for one will be betting big ;)
he's gonna win easy you watch.... it will be like the real round 4

Not sucking up, but Saddo is usually spot on, on analysis.
I might buy Oscar Floyd II. I didn't buy the first one. Depends on how I feel at the time.

Starting the post with the words "Not Sucking Up..." doens't exactly bode well for the post. ;)
Kinda like telling someone, "I don't mean to be rude, but..." which is always followed by a statement of extreme rudeness

I'm giving Saddo acknowledgement on to how much weight I put into his assessments on fights and fighters. In other words, I respect his veiws tremendously. :) I'm just saying, I like to read his posts, not because he's Head of the House, but because I like them.
DLH may have a chance after all. I just might buy the pay per view that night, even though I'm against the matchup.

Im sure it build his confidence up with the fact he couldnt stop forbes and that his face was busted up by someone who can't punch and he went in there to knock him out and couldnt :)
This fight was to make Oscar look spectacular but he couldnt :) if anything it lessened the want for a rematch with mayweather. Maybe his other 3 fights before Floyd will look better

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Oscar is out of his mind with this three fight two loss scenerio he has going on, if he really thinks he can beat floyd, cotto, or hell even margarito he's crazy. For his sake i hope he's doing it only for the money cause from that point of view maybe it makes sense.

I see the second PBF fight going pretty much like the first except from looking at DLH the other night...(I did not see where anyone found him to look impressive sorry but he looked like a guy who came into a fight with a plan and had a hard time executing it)....The second fight Floyd puts a bigger gap in the scores...Only good thing for Oscar (Especially looking at what Forbes did to his face)...Floyd will be countering all night,,,If he goes after DLH getting in throwing combos then moving so Oscar can't get off I actually think a stoppage or Gross beat down wouold occur....
As for DLH against Tony or Cotto....I see him being beaten down in a fight...Not a boxing match what so ever....Cotto will break the body down by the 6th DLH will be moving around like an 80yr old man with arthritis...
Margarito would just take him out like he snatched his chain in the street....DLH in no way will stop Tony especially with what Margarito has proven his jaw to be...Oscar looked slow to me against Forbes so there would not be a real speed advantage though Tony is a fairly slow fighter....If the fight took place at 147 DLH would be wqeight drained....and at 154 Tony makes it no problem increasing his power....
It would be a showcase for Margarito's power and grit....
It would be a showcase for Cotto and what a preview of a showdown between him and PBF might look like

Unless Oscar keeps Tony at the distance like Paul Williams did or unless Oscar connects that left hook to Cotto's jaw to have him dancing like many of Cotto's previous fights.

Paul Williams won the Tony fight due to Tony not being active early on...He lost by 2pts on 2 of the judges cards and 1 had it 112-116...Williams really did not neutralize Maragrito all that much with the jab...Was it his best weapon in the fight? Yes but also Williams is 6'1 with an 82" reach.....DLH is about 2 inches shorter and has something like a 72 or 73 inch reach...Margarito has an identical height and reach....DLH is not strong enough to keep Tony off with the jab...Tony would make him Figfht and keep the jab out of the factor....
DLH does not hit that hard anymore and looks slow...The Forbes fight showed how much he has declined....Cotto would keep him on the defensive....Allowing him to attack....Cotto does not have as bad a jaw as everyone makes out....Anyone who is 32-0 and has beaten Mosley in the distance can't have too bad of a chin IMO...Mosley has an impressive KO ration 37 out of 44 wins...a higher percentage rate then DLH so I can't see how you figure the power of Oscar would be a factor

Most of Mosley's KO's came when he was steamrolling the lightweight division. He hasn't been much of KO artist in recent ears. If anything the Mosley/Cotto fight showed me that Oscar would stand a very good chance of beating Cotto. If a 36 year old Shane...a Shane Mosley who looked considerably slower....could fight Cotto to a draw (yes...i had the fight a draw)...then i have no idea how some of you think Cotto will dominate Oscar. Oscar, even at this stage of his career, is a more skilled fighter than Cotto. As great and improved a fighter as Cotto is...he still has a porous defense and i'm not sold on his chin. Cotto's biggest advantage is his youth...but his youth didn't exactly carry him to an impressive victory over a well past prime Shane. Some people are gonna hate on Oscar...end of story. He looked slow and weak against Forbes?! Really! Sure, Forbes isn't a tremendous fighter. Sure he is undersized. But he is fast and slick...and isn't the type of fighter who is gonna get knocked out. It was tune up fight people. And it was a clean, mildly entertaining fight at that. And please don't forget...every fighter...EVERY FIGHTER....wants to fight Oscar. You don't think Cotto is dreaming about a mega fight with Oscar?! You don't think Tony would flip out at a chance to get in the ring with Oscar?! Even the world's p4p #1 fighter, Floyd, is dying for a rematch with Oscar...even though he won the first fight! But some of you think it's just Oscar who is all about the money. Boxing is a business and almost everyone is about the $$$.

AHHH see you are another one of those guys who half ass reads a thread then all of a sudden think they have something to say so they rattle off a full paragraph real quick feeling like they just cleared things up:-\
Don't remember ANYONE here saying Cotto would DOMINATE De La Hoya...break a fighter down and score a KO and dominating are two different things...learn the difference...
Don't remember ANYONE here saying Margarito would not like a chance to fight DLH....
So why don't you point those things out for us since you feel so strongly on your statement and educating me on how this is a business....$$$

OWNED!!;D

Wow! You must feel pretty good about yourself. Let me guess...it's post likes this that give you that thrill of thinking your smart. From most your posts on this thread...it's pretty clear you think Cotto would "dominate" Oscar...as would Tony. I guess statements like "Margarito would just take him out like he snatched his chain in the street" should not be interpreted as one fighter dominating another?! Oh...and to "break a fighter down and score a KO" isn't dominating?! The rest of my post was just my general feelings about this thread. So stop getting your panties in a bunch tough guy.

......
Dominating a fighter and breaking him down are two different things....If you dominate a fighter there is no need to break him down....
Margarito dominated Cintron.....
Hagler broke down Mugabi...slowly by working him steady.......Learn the difference...
and I don't think I ever started I did not think Margarito would not KO DLH....
In Fact you stated That I said Maragrito would not fight DLH and he would jump at the chance...I calrified that for you...
So again you pay no attention to what is written and taLk out of your ass....And because I prove you wrong and point out your bad posting because you are not even giving correct replies to what has been written does not mean someone is trying to act like a tough guy....SOOOOOOO again you have to be corrected...
Tell you what save your time posting and give up your internet service for a while...the saved money can go towards my new book..."Boxing 101 for Zhubin"....and the follow up book..."Posting for Dummies";)...
Now be off Junior before I have to pull your pants down and give you a spanking for disrespecting your elders
