Re: Premier League 2009-2010 prediction thread!!
I have Fabragas and B Hengeland on my starting squad, very good start, Gerrard, Torres and Defoe tomorrow, sounds like I might be into the leading member of the pool for the first week if I can get one or two goal out of these 3:)

I wouldnt say your fucked but I think your third fourth favs just of the fact your squad is not that deep, like they said on sky today Spurs squad is probably deeper than yours. Couple of injurys to your big players will you cope? I dont think so 3rd or 4th for Liverpool imo.

A first defeat is not dramatic for the moment, I am for Liverpool too and I am not ready to throw gloves yet, they almost make it last year, with the Benitez type of management, I am certain they'll get back in the race sooner than later.

Liverpool were poor today, come on you Spurs.

Thankfully Robbie Keane hasn't changed 3 chances 0 goals.....sorry bastard.
Rafa will have to tinker with the lineup a bit....I think you HAVE to swap out Lucas for Benayoun to get anything out of Gerrard and Torres. We didn't have any flow to our attack, guys got a little too eager to force something out there. Johnson looked good, we certainly didn't need Skrtel or Carra hurt.
This is what Liverpool needs IMO.
GK: Reina
LB: Insua CB: Skrtel CB: Carragher RB: Johnson
LM: Riera CDM: Mascherano CAM: Gerrard RM: Kuyt
ST: Voronin ST: Torres
This way you'll have the ability to sub in Benayoun for Voronin and switch Gerrard forward or Kuyt forward...it changes up the tempo of what our attack would be and allows Gerrard to be a box to box player again which is what he does best.

Mate if you think Voronin is the answer you have fuck all chance of winning anything. He is shocking mate, Benitez has left you short up front, you will not win the title.

Skel, I hope we do not regret not having Owen back. :11fb8:

Re: Premier League 2009-2010 prediction thread!!
Here's my reasoning behind that lineup
#1 Somebody in the midfield has to be able to possess the ball and distribute it, I think we all know Gerrard is the most capable of that.
#2 Benayoun NEEDS TO PLAY! Alonso was the only guy in his way and Yossi is the only guy who can even attempt to make up for his loss.
#3 Kuyt is more versitile than Voronin (as Rafa has played him at midfield before) and he's very energetic on the pitch ergo as a sub he seems like he'd be more help to change pace and to win the ball.
#4 Ryan Babel isn't the answer up front either so that leaves us with N'Gog who is shit and Voronin whom I think handles the ball pretty well and can pass decently as well.
Voronin isn't the best player for the position but he fits to where we can use our subs most effectively and have more options....for example given the lineup I listed
#1 You can sub Kuyt in for Voronin and Dirk can play up front
#2 you can sub Kuyt in for Benayoun and Dirk can play midfield
#3 you can sub Kuyt in for Voronin and switch Yossi to CAM and Gerrard to striker
#4 You can sub Kuyt in at striker if Torres gets injured
#5 You can sub Kuyt in forBenayoun at midfield and still have Babel left over to sub in for a fresh striker
We don't need Voronin to score 15-20 goals, we need someone to help Gerrard and Torres score goals and in that case I think Voronin is the man to start....it's not like he could be worse than Robbie Keane was last season.
-
Re: Premier League 2009-2010 prediction thread!!
Benayoun was certainly better than Babel yesterday.

Well of course....if anybody needed to be sold off it's Babel. The guy completely missed the ball right infront of an opent goal a couple times last year.
I am sure he will grow up and do well but right now he's not what we need.
Having Riera in the lineup will help, he's a good distributor of the ball

I have given up on Babel, was surprised he played yesterday, he is only good as a sub. Lucas will come good. It is early days. I do not think Utd will be as good, Chelsea are strong.
-
Re: Premier League 2009-2010 prediction thread!!
You're saying Voronin isn't good enough yet you're giving Lucas the benefit of the doubt?!?!?!!? At LEAST when Voronin plays he doesn't make dumb challenges.
Babel is garbage, he's the ONLY reason I am ok with keeping Dirk Kuyt who is one streaky mofo....he can look like it's his first day at soccer practice some times

You played Keane out of posistion most of the times and a striker thrives off confidence when your on the bench most of the time what do you think that does to you Keane is ten times better player than Voronin.
-
Re: Premier League 2009-2010 prediction thread!!
OK by the numbers Voronin played just as well as Keane did.
Robbie Keane 19 games, 5 goals
Andriy Voronin 20 games, 5 goals
I'm not saying, I'm just saying

Re: Premier League 2009-2010 prediction thread!!
Hahaha Lescott training on his own today. Everton refusing to comment on the whole situation. Makes a nice change from listening to Gollum moan about Hughes not phoning him to ask about Lescott.
Where's Lefty? Best crack on with the 'Jags is much better anyway' speech. ;D
-
Re: Premier League 2009-2010 prediction thread!!
Well Tam has probably emptied his sack a few times tonight ;D
Well done Burnley still early but we looked clueless tonight, no creativity at all replacing Ronaldo is near impossible but i feel Fergie hasnt really replaced a peak Scholes and as i have said I think all are midfielders are not the most creative and dont score enough goals.
Chelsea looking the favs at this stage, Anderson just doesnt do it for me and I think Fergie might need to get the cheque book out and get Silva from Valencia, I think we missed a trick not getting Arshavin really.
Spurs are on fire and Redknapp doing his magic aswell!!

Re: Premier League 2009-2010 prediction thread!!
Yeah they showed Man U-Burnley and now the replay of Hull-Tottenham.
Haha if you think about it its kind of funny, a British station that only plays in America.

Thats crazy?? Do they use there own pundits over there?? Maybe they bought the rights to the name? I dont know but for sure no one who was working for Setanta in England is now, most of the Sports team have moved to Sky Sports or another Tv channel ITV.
-
Re: Premier League 2009-2010 prediction thread!!
I don't know, two English sounding guys but I don't recognize them.
Funny I didn't use to have it, I know that. I mean it was there but if I flipped it to it then it would say this is not part of your tv package or something.
oh ok there's always been a Setanta US and its been a bit different
"With Setanta UK on the verge of going into administration after losing the TV rights to the Premier League through 2013 in the UK as well as losing the TV rights to the Scottish Premier League, the demise of Setanta UK looks certain. It may be days or hours before the plug is pulled.
The big question is what will happen to Setanta US?
While Setanta UK is floundering, Setanta US is a lean organization with very little overhead, a small staff, no studios or highly-paid presenters and, most importantly, are profitable and retain a large percentage of the rights to the Premier League on US TV for the 2009-2010 season which they had sub-licensed from Fox Soccer Channel. Setanta US also owns the broadband rights to the Champions League for the next three years, as well as many World Cup qualifiers, Carling Cup, Coca-Cola Championship, Russian Premier League, MUTV, Chelsea TV and shares the rights to the FA Cup with Fox Soccer Channel.
If and when Setanta UK goes into administration, Setanta US will continue to broadcast. The only difference will be that any programming that comes out of the UK studios will no longer be available. That includes shows such as Football Matters, the Friday Football Show and presumably Setanta Sports News (which is produced by ITN). As long as Setanta Ireland continues, then Setanta US will continue to show a lot of its popular shows such as Special 1 TV and its pre-game and post-game analysis featuring Paul Dempsey and Pat Dolan. Setanta US often picks up the Setanta Ireland feed for Premier League matches, but even if Setanta Ireland was sold or went out of business, Setanta US would pick up the TWI/IMG international feed for Premier League games instead."
they do show a lot of soccer/football. Just today Man U-Burnley, Hull-Tottenham, Athletico Madrid-Panathanaikos and Lyon-Anderlecht.

When I was in India last year use to watch more live English football (6 hours worth in a day) there than here. Ridiculous.

The only country in the world that doesnt get to see live 3pm english premiership games.....is england
Its all about the men at the top trying to make money. sure if you want to encourage fans to go and watch blackburn, wigan, fulham then its a good idea to make the fans have to go in person. But when your a fan of clubs like west ham, aston villa, man utd etc and you simply cannot get a ticket because they are sold out months in advance its just not fair.

Re: Premier League 2009-2010 prediction thread!!
I have a feeling that a tleast 2 of the 3 promoted clubs might stay up. Hull and Portsmouth could easily go and Bolton are going to struggle. Stoke will probably survive due to their home record

Re: Premier League 2009-2010 prediction thread!!
Lescott is almost finally done. £22m which is wayyyyyy steep. Should be announced Monday or Tuesday.
That'll be us done until January now.
EDIT: WE ARE TRYING TO GET IT COMPLETED AND ANNOUNCED TODAY.

Wolves get 10% of the fee for Lescott.

City trying to announce it really soon. Everton want it out of the way before tomorrow. Moyes is very very unhappy about it.

I think that with the foreign billionaires investing in England, the Premiereship is the league where we can feel the fastest shift of pace with the "new" powerhouse financed teams, Chelsea, Manchester CIty are only the beginning of this era.

Chelsea not anymore, they spent big first couple of years to basically get them the tv money they would get from challenging in europe and all compitions, now if anything there one of the smallest spenders out of the big clubs, they now have a budget and try to spend from the money they have made through there success, I think it will eventully be the same with City, they will spend the money needed to try and break the top 4 and earn the big money then try work as a business.

Never said he was shiit.
Just a money grabbing big forehead ugly twat to put it correct :)
Jagielka is 10X better than Lescott. Rodwell is going to special. Yobo is pretty decent. Who needs the money grabber.

Don't see any of Jagielka/Yobo/Lescott as being anything special to be honest. Just solid players in a usually solid team. Lescott looks like he's off Star Trek.
Anyway he completed his medical about 20 minutes ago.
