Boxers are tested like in other sports, just not like the Olympics... Which the Olympic style testing is for ALL THE OLYMPIANS!!!
not just the big events... Thats my point!
Floyd wants a brand new testing system implimented in this one fight... But yet it is not done nor has ever been done before...
you need to watch that fight again jmm did hurt him
and the olympics arent a big event ? :-\
JMM sure did I think i saw Pac wobble a bunch a times, and shoot i think Pac even down once or twice....."whatever"
You must have not read what i said on the Olympics point... My point was that ALL OLYMPIANS are subjected to that type of testing EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!... This is one guy telling the other guy you need to take this test even though no other boxer has ever had to before... Just because!

Diaz, DLH, Hatton, or Cotto never landed a similar shot and Pac has improved his balance since that fight... Maybe that was the reason why...
I will never take anything away from JMM - He is wonderful against pac and brilliant against Southpaws..

0:32 surely that constitutes a wobble.
Pac was completely out of position while stepping out and got caught on the chin while being off balance (which was a major weakness JMM was able to exploit) - Pac was still in no danger of hitting the canvas...

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather in jeopardy...
The Olympics are a completely different entity on there own...They have a completely different set of comformities...
Otherwise the Golden Gloves would be doing the same thing, or how Ringside Worlds ??? None of those use a the same type of drug testing...
The Olympics stand alone - Thats why they have a thing called OLYMPIC STYLE DRUG TESTING!
We are getting off track here...
I have nothing against these tests... I just feel what is good for one is good for all, and just because one fighters camp has a big mouth doesn't mean everyone has to abide by it...
SIDE NOTE: Roach came to a compromise... 1 week prior... hopefully that will apease everyone...
I do hope they improve the drug screening process in the future though...
Its been real fun...

The testing takes place over 10 weeks time and requires 8-10 urine samples and 5-6 blood samples. So while it is not ideal, it's better than 30 days.

Promoter says Pacquiao-Mayweather likely off
(AP) – 47 minutes ago
LAS VEGAS — The promoter for boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao says a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. will not happen unless Mayweather's camp drops its insistence for Olympic-style blood testing.
Promoter Bob Arum says if that doesn't happen by Thursday, the proposed March 13 fight that would have likely been the richest ever in boxing is over.
Arum accused Mayweather's camp of raising the issue not because they were worried about Pacquiao taking performance-enhancing substances, but because Mayweather never wanted to fight in the first place.
Arum said Wednesday that Pacquiao would agree to testing by the same agencies that test pro football and baseball players, but not for random tests by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
He said that Pacquiao still plans to fight March 13, and will now look for another opponent.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather in jeopardy...
I don't get what the problem with the testing is. They both have to go through it, its not like Manny will be the only one of the two subject to the tests. Whats the big deal? Even if you're scared of needles, you getting paid millions, so what is the fucking problem?
A for the issue of the weight, nobody can criticise Pac for this. The fight should be at 147. They're both Welterweights. Floyd should fucking sign a 147 deal, I don't see a problem there either.

Mayweather signed on at 147 with severe penalties. Pacquiao is the one that's backing out, but he won't get the flack Mayweather would get because people like him.

Because this has the potential to be the biggest boxing fight of ALL-TIME. It should be treated like the spectacle it will be not like every other fight. It's not a standard run-of-the-mill fight.
Why doesn't Pacquiao want testing? What is the reason?

I actually disagree. Pacquiao's reputation will take a big hit if the fight doesn't come off because of his refusal to submit to steroids tests unless there is some reason we don't know about yet.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather in jeopardy...
This s**t sucks. Yes, it is a good point that all boxers should be subject to this testing if Manny must undergo it, but if Floyd complied, so should Manny. The main point being that the Mayweather camp believes that they are the elite of the sport and the testing should be treated as such. What pisses me off is that this is the final thing getting in the way and Pac refusing puts his character into serious question. Hurry up and make this s**t happen already!

Guys,
I'm not against this type of testing, i'm against Floyd grandstanding like he is threatened by PAC being a cheater... You guys know this is a ploy to mess with PAC whether you agree with the test or not...
Paquiao is at the top of the boxing heap with a lot of suspicion from many people regarding possible steroid use. If all these suspicions were pure bullshit he would accept the tests to prove it, and being a top athlete and you saying this is a ploy to mess with Pacs mind is bullshit too, if that is all it takes to take his mind out of the game he can't be the best of the best. A couple vials of blood over a couple month's will not make anyone feel woosy or run down like some other poster posted earlier in this thread. My feelings are that Pac has been doing something illegal and thats why he is refusing to do these tests.
$50 milion payday and he's going to throw it all away over a ounce or two of blood, who is the scam here?, from past negotiations with Pac on his fights he always has the upper hand. This will just make sure everything is legit and fair, so man up you little pussy and take the tests, you and Arum can't spin this one as being Mayweathers excuse not to fight, prove your legit and the fight is made.
Walk away from this and it will be spoken of for years to come and your past accomplishments come into question.

When this fight actually happens it'll be interesting to see how many "The Fight Is On..." and "The Fight Is Off" threads were made in response to every little ploy and barb from each side.

The Roid issue is completely made up!
@Majesty - I have no double standard on my issues...But I will not compare apple and oranges... Would Mayweather come up with a penalty at PAC for coming in overweight?? No... Because Pac does not create advantages using his weight AFTER the weight is agreed upon... PBF will agree to a weight and then come in heavy...
The ROID issue is completely made up and has not basis of being even used against PAC.
@Killer - I really like your breakdown of the unrealistic terms of overall drug screening; however, my point is that Mayweather has no bearing on being the guy that starts this new drug screening process. This should be reviewed and drummed up by the sanctioning bodies... Not a fighters pre-fight stipulation without any evidence to even accuse PAC in the first place...
It may well be, but why not take the test and prove it? They're both subjected to the same tests, and Mayweather has a point by saying that he wants the tests to make sure that the biggest fight in history is a fair fight.
You saying earlier that 'there is no basis for this kind of test because it hasn't come up with Pac before' is ridiculous. By your logic, Nazim Richardson as wrong to accuse Margarito and ask him to re-wrap his hands because it had never been asked of him before.
If and when this comes off I thought I'd want Pac to win. But Pac's fans failure to see two sides of an argument is enough to make me want him to fail.

Manny should nor any fighter have to take anything more then the mandatory test required by the commission or the other guy should have to succumb to the same test or at minimum one guy gives in to the others demands then vice versa

I would be saying the same things regardless of who was fighting (Except for the Floyd is scared part that was just to stir up the Floyd followers)
I just don't think a fighter should be able to dicate terms such as those it is an issue that need be addressed by boxing as a whole...
I mean look at it this way...What if the NFL started to make such demands? The Giants are set to face Dallas and the Coach decides or team owner decides one of the players on the opposing team is just blowing other guys away gaining too much yardage and they want him tested before the game?
Would never happen....Would never be allowed....
I have also spoken against the stupid 10 mil per pound rule...
These guys are getting out of hand for sure

I here ya but NFL, MLB, NBA all have unions and sit down and hammer out agreements with the owners. The agreements are put in place for a few years until they sit down and have another collective bargaining agreement
There is also meetings in the off season as well to talk about things..
Boxers are independent contractors who do things on a contract by contract bases. There is no boxers union or organization who work on behalf of boxers as a body. Thats why this is not a big deal. Floyd just like you would be is concerned about his legacy and wants to know that he is fighting a clean opponent, were there is smoke there is fire and Pac has a ton of suspicion attached to him and we have seen that in all other major sports unfortunately most of the time the suspicion is warranted. Pac has an obligation IMO and step up and refute these rumors by doing LEGITIMATE and thorough drug testing

Malignaggi would be the first one I would expect to ask for a stricter drug screen. Even though clearly Malignaggi is a diversion, I agree no way to justify any value of fighting Malignaggi.

Much thanks to Manny Pacquiao, Freddie Roach, Alex Ariza & Bob Arum. You bastards soured Xmas
Malignaggi would be the first one I would expect to ask for a stricter drug screen. Even though clearly Malignaggi is a diversion, I agree no way to justify any value of fighting Malignaggi.
Agreed. I can't see Malignaggi wanting to let up in the drug testing as he has been one of the most outspoken in saying Pac is likely on the juice. In fact now I can see a lot of other opponents wanting the testing being applied to Manny now as his reluctance in this instance is hurting his integrity.
Rather than do it this time and show he is clean, he is being evasive and seemingly also backing out of the biggest money fight in boxing history. He's bakced himself into a box now. Maybe Mayweather was just trying to sling some mud, but Pac's response has ensured that the mud has stuck.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather in jeopardy...
Well, Arum has said he's negotiating with DiBella, so he's clearly willing to embarass himself & Manny further.
There's also unsubstantiated talk of PBF fighting Martinez. I'll be so pissed if this fight doesn't happen.
I also think it's got to the stage where Pac has to do the full test or there would always be speculation if he won

This fight will happen all part of the hype.

If this goes down, I'm done as a Pacquiao fan.
The guy has so much fans who have so much respect for him and he can't give us a definitive answer? He speaks through a promoter, trainer & conditioning coach?
We've heard from everybody except the one person we need to hear from. He at least owes us that much.

you seem to be having an overload, guess it's hard to cope with the fact that your favorite fighter might just be a cheat hahahaha if this is any indication to how he'll be in congress it's gonna be a sad day in the Philippines if they're icon ends up as corrupt as their already existing government :-X

What? Is there an initiation now?
Sorry I don't wear a "Team Pacquiao" shirt or name myself teenybopper-esque names like "Pacfan" like some 11 year old prepubescent girl at a Twilight movie opening.
This is boxing. I support Pacquiao by buying all his fights and encouraging others to do the same. If that's not enough to be in this little "uber cool fan club!!!11!" of yours, then I don't know what to tell you.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather in jeopardy...
Brilliant psychological warfare by PBF. When your enemy is annoyed, irritate him; Sun Tzu informed us. Probably Pac's clean so the very insinuation insults him. So he reacts defensively which makes him look guilty, leading to speculation which further irritates him.
Now he must acquiesce to PBF's demands or risk his place in history, not to mention the $$.
Rd 1, PBF.
