Huge win by donaire.
MARES V. DONAIRE

Re: Official Montiel-Donaire Thread
I don't think anyone at bantam can deal with his size/speed combo. Super Bantam is kind of weak atm though, wouldnt mind seeing him unify against the Agbeko-Mares winner.

Chances of that happening is slim. He had trouble making 118.
Do you know any top dawg at 122? Caballero, Gamboa, JML, Juarez, CJ, Bern Concepcion.. they all moved up man.

I read somewhere that he has a BIG date offered by Koki Kameda's in Japan for big bucks if he is able to dispose of Montiel... Now that he has, I don't know if that still stand now. I think it is for a unification... not so sure about that last bit.

Re: Official Montiel-Donaire Thread
I fell asleep but i just read the result 2 rounds ? wow that is mighty impressive. I always thought Nonito Donaire was very talented, but i did think his ranking was well overrated. But tonight he's shown why he's one of the top boxer's in the world.
And full props to him, when Manny Pacquiao retires. Filipino's will have a new star, which is pretty rare one after another.

Re: Official Montiel-Donaire Thread
I missed the first round, but that was a great performance by Donaire. He looks like he's going to fulfill all the hype and expectations placed on him. I really think he has the tools to be considered the best fighter in the game one day.

Re: Official Montiel-Donaire Thread
Wow! mad respect to Nonito...
Imagine if he had not wasted all that time after the Vic fight where he would be now?

People all over facebook was hating on his dunk over the Kia. I don't know about you, but that was creative and he jumped over a f*cking car and cleared it with room to spare!

Man this dude is no joke. Ko'ing a guy through his own punch and not only that then trying to hit him again before he hit the floor good lord ! And it was montiel who re hydrated to damn near 135. I don't see anyone beating Nonito anytime soon. Try shutting them up in the philipines now lol congrats to em they've earned bragging rights I guess . I know my homeboy is still
goin on about it to this min !! And don't get me started on Blake ole boy is dope !

Re: Official Montiel-Donaire Thread
Yo Cutme, that Carano gif is awesome. I will never get tired of it. Oh yeah, Donaire and Blake were sick too.

Finally seen the fight. Avoided the result like the plague all day.
BOOM!
What a sickening left hook. Surprised the ref let him carry on seeing how he was convulsing on the floor.
Nonito will definitely be p4p king once Manny retires.

Re: Official Montiel-Donaire Thread
Great win for Donaire. The problem with Donaire was never his talent. Or race. It was his lack of competition. But after destroying the number 1 fighter he took care of that problem. It was a great hook that look almost looked like a temple shot. Montiel never saw it coming. Hopefully Donaire stays around for the winner of Mares-Abgeko. Montiel? Move up and try for his 4th title. Than call it quits.

Apologies if posted before.

Montiel looked like a helpless turtle on his back trying to roll over. ;D

Dissapointed fight was over so quick but oh well. Props to donaire he finally deserves his high p4p ranking, and props to montiel to gettin up and attempting to go on.

Re: Official Montiel-Donaire Thread
Update:
Nonito just updated his facebook.
Nonito Donaire Jr.
I want to give up 2 things to God: my win last night and also
Montiels speedy recovery for his zygomatic bone fracture and reconstructive
surgery. In both moments, only He can help us.
Hope Montiel recovers well and still compete and maybe win another title at 122.

Re: Official Montiel-Donaire Thread
Just go in, been driving all holiday weekend. Watched the DVR, great performance by Donaire. Those quick KO's like that always seem to get me jump out of my chair.
Got to say he composed his mouth pretty well from trash talking in that interview.

Re: Official Montiel-Donaire Thread
Donaire used a similar strategy Khan used against Malingaggi, speed to stay toe to toe, trick distance and overpower. What a fight though. Nonito didn't give Montiel time to study and get used to him at all; if it went past the third round, I'm sure Montiel would have given him way more trouble.

IMO in the first round Montiel was trying to study Donaire but it would leave him standing around and getting pick apart. In the Second Montiel put the pressure on Donaire which was a bad idea because of Nonito's countering style. Montiel did land a lot more in the second though but it also made him more vulnerable. Montiel could of give Nonito more trouble if it lasted but it look like Nonito had an answer to whatever Montiel was doing. It was a chess match and both guys would answer eachothers move, the better fighter was a step ahead.

That's what I was worried about before the fight; that the loopholes in Montiel's hybrid defense would get fully exploited by Nonito's speed. I thought Montiel's chin would be able to deal with it based on his fight with Hasegawa where he showed some flaws in his defense early on, absorbed the shots and quickly adjusted. But, as you said, Nonito wasted no time and fully capitalized on every opportunity. He almost had a rhythm going with the jab in the second, and i think if he had slowly built on that instead of opening up immediately, it would have been different. I soon as I saw Montiel open up with a right hook, I face palmed, looked back, and face palmed again. xD

Re: Official Montiel-Donaire Thread
In the 1st round Donairre landed the same counter but didnt generate the same power because he slip the right straight from Montiel.
in the 2nd round He launched the left hook just in time to slightly absorb the right straight.
He adjusted. I think he beats the other Bantams ala Sydorenko or Montiel. if he is as sharp as that performance.
The challenge is at the upper division.

I slipped Montiel's left hook not straight right. It was a classic case of a hooker hooking a hooker. Only as viewers we thought Montiel had all the dynamite in his gloves. He was only touching off on Doniare, who was drawing him in. I swear Donaire is not lying when he said he was letting Montiel hit him.

Official Montiel-Donaire Thread - Montiel Denies Report. "What Fracture?"
Hahahaha.... Who fed this story to an over zealous reporter look for ratings? Or was it? Was this Doniare fans, Donaire's team, Montiel's fan's/team, or some other group just looking to stir the Pot?

The former WBC and WBO bantamweight champion, Fernando 'Kochulito' Montiel, denied reports that he suffered a facial fracture as a result of last Saturday's knockout loss to Nonito Donaire in Las Vegas. In press conference held Montiel's hometown of Los Mochis, Sinaloa in Mexico, the boxer clarified speculations with respect to the state of his health.
"I'm calm. A person learns from his defeats. I had no facture and I wasn't in a coma, or anything like that. I am already turning over to the next page. It's a very heavy page, but I have to do it," Montiel said. "You see, I have to admit that I was badly hurt by that shot. The fight was stopped at the right time because I wasn't capable of thinking at 100% or even 50%, or doing what had to be done. I believe that I'm going to rise from this and I will be a world champion again."
As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Montiel is expected to return to the ring in three to four months.

I just watched again to validate.
Donairre slip a straight right hand in the 1st and slightly absorbed more like a right hook
in the 2nd before landing the left hook.
It was a straight right not a left hook bro.
