Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Bute's trainer lecturing him, Jeebus.
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
If HBO has its way Pascal will be yelling "Y'all musta forgot" by the 12th :biteit: :D Bute needs a ko or a .590 to win this
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
These guys are both fucking past it but Pascal should still piss this fight on the cards. Watch a draw happen or a Bute decision.
-
They're talking about Pascal fighting a great fight. Bullshit, fucking morons! Bute is making Pascal look good by not fighting.
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Enough with Grade B fighters thinking a name makes them Grade A . Pascal is a fool
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Pascal has a real stamina problem. He needs to employ a better fitness coach to deal with his endurance. Sky making out this is close.
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Wait till the last round to fight!
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Watt had Bute winning by a point.
I had it 8-4 Pascal. He was fucked last round.
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Still a garbage performance by Bute
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Even with Pascal being an ass the last couple he still won this by a good margin.
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Have Bute winning 4 rounds..at the very most. Pascal pissed alot away, acted a clown
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Watt backpeddling after hearing those wide scores. This happens every time. Sky needs to sack him. Please Sky...I'm begging you, either sack him or have him commentate on netball or something.
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
" The Canadian p4p" ;D :kick:
Roy just cannot give up a stage
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Pascal has always had a stamina problem and it's not getting any better. Another big payday with Stevenson is obviously the best move for him.
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Pascal needs somebody to speak for him. What an idiot!
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Both these guys stink. I can't believe it.
For YEARS these two were the guys I clung to as the Canadian fighters who would really dominate on the world stage (Bute especially), and I looked at Adonis Stevenson as a guy who would never make it. Boy was I wrong. Adonis is the man in Canada. These guys are jokes.
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
No fucking rematch. Retire Bute
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Tony Bellew just said he couldn't make a case for Pascal winning as Bute was more active.
I'm ashamed to be British...and from Liverpool.
Hopefully Bellew goes home and argues with the mirror, calling himself a fucking rat.
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Mysteriously? No doubt he was caught in a motel with some hooker
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
The French speaking part of Canada is as big on boxing as maybe anywhere else in the world. The Top Rank and GBP of Canada did a joint promotion tonight. Their main event was two guys who were imported because there are a lack of native Canadian boxers to take advantage of the Canadian market. There wasn't a single Canadian boxer on the undercard in the biggest boxing event in Canada for thirty years. This does not augur well for the future of boxing in Canada.
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Pascal said he was being hit on purpose...its all about the rematch. Bute agrees and wants it. WTF ???
Will sell kidney for Stevenson v Kovalev. Thanks.

Montreal is the only place in Canada that gives two fucks about boxing. Montreal is a MASSIVE fight city for boxing and MMA (due to the popularity of these guys, and GSP). But yeah, seeing the supposedly two biggest Canadian stars put on a lackluster show like that doesn't bode well for boxing in canada.

How can there not be any prospects though? There's nobody they can put even in a six rounder before the main event for an easy knockout?

There were a lot of Canadian fighters on the card, they just dodn't get on the broadcast. Why would HBO want to show a 6 round blowout by an unknown Canadian fighter?
Calling Bute and Pascal "imported" makes it sound like they didn't move to Canada under their own free will. Like the Canadian government has a program to import athletes because they can't grow their own. Its one of the most senseless things I read on this site today.

Zewski and Gauthier were on the card but yeah boxing is pretty lame in this country east and west of the Quebec border.

Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
I didn't even watch it.
Sounds like I didn't miss out...

Why did they move to Canada? Because they got attractive offers from Canadian boxing promoters that they considered were the best business moves they could make. Otherwise they'd be American or German or British-based fighters.
-
Very disappointed with the whole broadcast. Pascal just didn't go for it an maintain the attack. Surely he could have got a stoppage. Perez takam was just awful. Only fighter who looked like he gave his all was gardner
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
After the Froch fight I said Bute should fire his trainer. I still say that today. Bute has not recovered from the Froch beating. I think he's done.

They may like Canada as a place to live dumb ass.

I'm not sure why they never. Would have been nice to see Montreal native David Lemieux on the undercard. He was gonna be the next big thing in Canada until he lost to Rubio. Huge puncher, would have been a good showcase to get him back in the public eye.
Dierry Jean is fighting Lamont Peterson next week, would have been great to get that bout on the undercard. Dierry is another Haitain-Canadian with big potential.
Logan McGuinness is a decent prospect, don't know why they never got him.
Who knows

Lovely weather this time of year. You've got to plug your car engine into an electric heater when you go to the supermarket so it isn't frozen solid when you come out. Just like southern California.

Lemieux is the only guy I can name. If you lose to Rubio though you've pretty much lost to a gatekeeper. I was thinking of somebody on the way up that they could at least give an easy KO opponent to before the main event to give him some kind of buzz with fight fans on a big stage.

...and southern California is such a great place for recent immigrants who aren't rich and white. People in America are so tolerant and accepting. There's hardly any violent crime on the streets or rampant corruption or racism at every level of government. The political climate and socioeconomic classism not to mention the piss poor education and health system are truly desirable environments in which to raise a family!

It was a poor fight.
I saw it as a close fight too. I had it 115-113 for Pascal or a draw.
Bute is a shot fighter, and Pascal is a shit fighter. Either would lose to Kovalev or Stevenson.
-
Re: Jean Pascal - Lucian Bute, fight discussion thread and picks
Yeah after every fight everyone is shit. I mean why even watch?
