Re: European Championship 2016
As much as it pains me that showed England what it takes - be a team and be passionate. Unfortunately our boys will be back on their 150k a week salaries and won't care.
I want the Wales Portugal semi to go to penalties and it to go on forever with neither team ever getting to the final.
As for England I don't know what the answer is.

I don't hold that against you mate - hope we can prove you wrong, but if not, it's been one hell of a ride!
I hate it when you are so rational and reasonable.
Well done Wales that was a performance.
I do not believe it, that should be England, you sure they have not just swapped shirts?
Yed, definitely sure they haven't swapped shirts ..... Wales have won more knockout games in the last week than England have in the last two decades. ;D

Now that is what I am talking about, some cheeky welsh man getting cocky.
You will not win without Ramsey.

Mate, that's the whole problem with being an England fan...the expectation is too great. For me, every win has been a bonus, and two more wins would be the biggest bonus of all.
We've got two good quality Premier League players, James Collins and Andy King coming in for Ben Davies and Aaron Ramsey, so while we'll miss Aaron, I don't think Portugal can be complacent.

pepe also hasn't done anything insane yet, that's not like him, surely he is due a sending off soon, maybe it'll happen v wales :S

Oh we'll, Italy are out but they can be proud of themselves. Nobody expected anything from this squad, but they've been brilliant. FORZA ITALIA!!!

the penalties were awful... pelle and zaza especially, I feel really bad for italy, they were slightly underpowered this tournament especially in the attacking are of the pitch(eder really impressed though, I thought he was lucky to be there, shows what I know, he did great!) Italy did brilliantly to beat belgium and spain! really good work from conte, unfortunatley loew and germany noticed this and adjusted their formation accordingly and really nulified the italian threat, apart from boatengs madness of course :S germany were smart and controlled the game, well done to them.. I do feel bad for the italians, just look at them sing the anthem and how they reacted when bonucci scored the penalty in normal time ! Amazing and the perfect example of what national teams should be all about, I say well done italy you did yourselfs and your country proud !

Re: European Championship 2016
The Germans were the better side and deserved to go through. They were superior in most of the match and Italy were playing for the penalties.

France should rest their best players for Germany and make 3 substitutes maybe then you stand a chance. :)

What if they make it 5-5?

Re: European Championship 2016
Iceland fans a classy bunch. Cheered for their team although they lost big to France. Got farther than anybody expected, and even refused to lay down after being down 4-0. I'm glad France rested some starters for the next game. Germany has a few starters out due to either injuries or penalties. This could be closer than some people expect. Myself I'll be rooting for France to pull off the upset.

Re: European Championship 2016
Good tournament for the Welsh. Well done. You should be proud.
I apologize for wishing you the worst. I was bitter, frustrated and hurt.

Re: European Championship 2016
What a ride. A little disappointed tonight, the Portuguese shut us down well, they let us have possession in the back 5, but pressed up when it went to the midfield, stopping us from building forward. Nonetheless, can't be too disappointed with what has been a sensational tournament, and memories that will still be with me when I've forgotten my name and some nurse in a nursing home gets the pleasure of changing my nappy.
We were competitive, but our top players didn't fire, and we missed Ramsey. Overall a fair result, but despite the disappointment, we made it to the semis, and it was a hell of a tournament.

My wife has France to win it, so that will be my money too. :)
I think Germany will win.

The FAW should have some funds to invest in grassroots after this windfall. However, even if this is just a golden generation, the memories will keep me warm on those rainy Wednesday night friendlies against Latvia and the Faroe Islands at the Racecourse or the Scarlets Stadium to come.

Re: European Championship 2016
Saw on news how big the game was in Wales. The streets were empty and the stadium was nearly full watching a tv screen. Amazing support.

Re: European Championship 2016
France 2-0 up, wonders never cease.
-
Re: European Championship 2016
So, the Portuguese eh...without Ronaldo...bit of a dull final, somebody told me. Slept through most of it...
-
Re: European Championship 2016
I don't follow, but I enjoyed the game, went to a nice pub for lunch and watched it. Not going to embarrass myself trying to provide commentary, but I can enjoy 0-0 games quite a bit more than a team trying to milk the clock and protect a lead. Lots of wasted chances it felt like, but defensively both teams seemed to play well and it picked up a bunch in extra time, before that almost every good chance was France's. Didn't care at all who won, just glad someone scored before they went to a shootout, which is a farce imo. I get that they can't let games go on forever, but how are you going to decide who wins a major tournament through something that has all but nothing to do with the sport.
-
Re: European Championship 2016
Sort of rooting for France, but happy for Portugal in the end. Commentators complaining about ugly football, but maybe I'm warming up to it, as I found it entertaining to watch. I did like France's fluidity in the previous games more than the 0-0 stalemate which Portugal seems to excel at. Still... it was exciting and there were plenty of saves and good shots. Everyone thought Portugal was cooked when Ronaldo went down... but they showed some mettle in winning it without him.

Re: European Championship 2016
France should have won they were more attack minded.
This means that Sam Allardyce has a chance for the England job now.

Mate, at least with Big Sam on board you won't get relegated from the qualifying group.

Sam is in as England manager. He will do a job but was only chosen because Roy did very badly. Sam messed up West Ham for the last 3 months of the season. I did not want Bruce flat face to get it.
Sam will start well and then lose his job after 2 years.
-
Re: European Championship 2016
Can't argue too much with that, although, you never know because Sam does drive a one for all team spirit which we saw in his other teams. That might be what England need to actually get to somewhere, and rather than choosing the best players he goes for the players that best fit the system.

Kevin Keegan was going to do the same and failed miserably.
Sam will do a job I just dislike his freindship with Jose, Alex and his hate for Wenger and Rafa.
Anyway Russia need to be booted out of holding the next world cup and give it to us.
