It was a close fight, no doubt, but Pacquaio deserved the win. I'd have it 6-6 with the 9th being a 10-8 for Manny. 7-5 for Manny is also very reasonable. A few rounds were nearly a toss up. Horn was big, dirty, and Pac showed his age. Sad to see. I'd say Horn is rough and all heart, but he'd be hard pressed to beat guys like Collazo, Berto, or Algeri.
-
Re: Pac vs Horn..do we care?
The Atlas commentary was probably one of the most biased and turgid i have ever heard in a boxing match, he hated Horn from round 1. It certainly has influenced some of the ridiculous comments made by celebrities who were wrong ( Samuel L Jackson and Kobe Bryant who are screaming robbery ). Lennox Lewis should know better. There was no robbery here, Pacman got old and Horn was too tough for him. No way compubox got those stats right. Horn was with Pacquiao all the way in that fight except for Round 9. I'm surprised Horn won, i'm surprised he even went the distance, but then again i'm not surprised Manny Pacquiao is done and dusted at age 38. 115-113 seems fair to me.

Re: Pac vs Horn..do we care?
Bob arum is behind all of this..he makes me sick.
He loves a rematch with Top rank fighters..he is milking it for all it's worth.
-
Re: Pac vs Horn..do we care?
Even though I thought Pac won I'm most bothered by the punch stats. The suggestion Horn only landed 92 punches is absurd. That's not even close. That's less than 8 punches per round. It doesn't reflect the fight at all.
This was not a good defensive fight by either. It was a clumsy slug it out war. The punch stats should reflect that.
Because these numbers and the scores are wrong instead of talking about a clumsy exciting battle we are talking about punch stats and robbery.
The night should have ended with Pac having his hand raised and later saying in the press conference he doesn't really have it anymore and he will retire. Then people interested in fighting the best could fight for that belt.
A rematch doesn't do anything for saying who is the best at 147. That's what championship fights should be about, who is the best. Not a lifetime achievement award, not an award for effort.

I don't believe those punch stats at all, totally absurd count and wrong IMO.

Re: Pac vs Horn..do we care?
It had excitement but it was a clumsy awkward fight and PAC was a bit hesitant. No point for a rematch but that's up to money not us. It's strange though my top two boxing heroes, Manny, fighting like this with this result and this farce of my buy Floyd doing Connor it's just hard for me to fathom. My coworker was cool, he saw I was upset and did not ride me in anyway. I'm gonna thank him for that cause he could have made my life much more painful. It's sad this era of boxing 🥊 is coming to a close. Floyd and manny gave us some great great enjoyment I wish I could give them both a big hug
-
Re: Pac vs Horn..do we care?
Anyone know what horn and manny weighed in the ring. I know the weigh in but I don't know weights at the fight .
-
Re: Pac vs Horn..do we care?
For what it's worth I had Horn winning, he faded big time towards the end and the old Manny would have stopped him relatively easy.
It was a close fight and one that was always going to draw criticism, Manny gets the decision and they have gone with the champ/legend, Horn wins and it's a typical loaded score card in the favour of the hone fighter.
I actually liked the way Buncey had a big rant about the pactards after the fight, the Pac fans were hurting and were not happy with the decision but a robbery it was not.

Re: Pac vs Horn..do we care?
Funny thing is even those youtube channels that are legitimate Pacquiao haters are in unison that this was a robbery. I guess we can draw conclusion with that, they have no dog in that fight. I also am curious how much the fighters weighed at fight night. Horn looked like a junior middleweight standing next to Pac and yet. PAC almost stopped him in the 9th. Its hard to hate on Horn though, seems like a amiable and humble guy, compared to most fighters, i wish him the best.

Only thing with Horn that annoyed me was the walking stick/gloves thing, fucks sake mate, you have just beat someone who is clearly well past their prime and you are calling out someone who is clearly having their last fight (albeit a joke of a fight but the cunt is getting $100+ mill from it) why not beat the other guys in the division before coming out with that sort of shite.
I still think it is tough on Horn to call it a robbery though, I don't know what the actual score cards were but if they were close I don't see how anyone can have any complaints.

I had it 7 to 5 for Pac and that is being generous to Horn for the 2 really close rounds I gave to him. So considering round 9 was a 8-10 round that makes it a 9 to 3 round for Pac. At least from a Pactard like me.
I'm going to have to watch the fight again because I definitely had it a hell of a lot closer than that and I was definitely swinging towards Horn, granted I may have (unknowingly) scored it whilst judging Pac on his former status but maybe the pactards were judging through rose tinted glasses.
I've always loved pac as a fighter so I'd like to think I was neutral but we all know that it is easy to be swung by the commentary and I was watching on BoxNation who also had Horn as winning.

Nah, it wasn't worth killing myself for, I only had a few hours kip the night before so I thought it was best that I got my head down.
Saying that I always get up with the sun so I was awake at 5:30 and I watched it then so I was only a few hours behind.

Bob is beyond defending. I actually think Pacquiao would perform better with a challenge like Thurman. Spence at this stage in his career would be too much for him but I could see Thurman getting sparked or out gunned.
I wouldn't put a penny either way. I could see Pac getting Thurman hesitant and taking him apart. Or Thurman setting a trap(one aspect I think Thurman is very good at) and stopping Pac. I'd love to see the matchup.
After last night I would have confidence in Thurman and have no interest in seeing Pac/Thurman

maths has never been my strong point but I think what he meant is that he scored it 115/113 but if you give a 10/8 round then it was 116/112
I could be massively wrong with that I don't know, maybe he wasn't saying that at all and maybe my maths is off massively, I don't know

anyway I think i need to watch it again too, i didnt see it as controversial in anyway, I think compu box can be pretty bad at counting body punches which is what horn did a lot of, or maybe I am even worse at counting them, I really cant believe the punch stats.

I didn't stick around long enough after the fight to hear Horn call out Floyd, but I can't imagine myself being the guy holding the mic, and being able to stifle a laugh (I'd be a terrible interviewer) upon hearing that. Unheard of Horn ekes out a win over a clearly aged and undersized Pacquiao, albeit with the help of a few horrific (albeit accidental) headbutts..... and all of a sudden he's worthy of a mega-payday against Floyd. ;D
I know Floyd may be tempted to add # 51 after he grabs his tainted victory over the MMA guy...... but Horn??
No money...... no marketability...... no sense.
Wake up from that wet dream there, Jeff.

for the record, I score fights right at the time, its just when trying to figure other peoples numbers out that I get confused...its strange because I feel like I should be good at maths but anything that is slightly complicated I go full retard

@Master
listen Buzz Killington, I had 3 hours kip on Friday night, I went to bed at 2am and was up at 5am killing aliens by squirting pretend aftershave in their eyes (that is the only way to kill aliens apparently) and running away from the fidget spinner dog that was trying to kill us...
all the time I was doing that the little brats parents were in bed enjoying a lie in, I was fucked before Buglioni even got to the ring.
also I made a conscious decision not to stay up all night so that I could go out for a drink today, I feel as though the anti social hours of boxing feeds my misanthropic ways and I am trying to reintegrate myself into society.
although I prefer to be a boxing recluse apparently it is not normal.

also I made a conscious decision not to stay up all night so that I could go out for a drink today, I feel as though the anti social hours of boxing feeds my misanthropic ways and I am trying to reintegrate myself into society.
although I prefer to be a boxing recluse apparently it is not normal.
In that case I forgive you.
The late night boxing has improved my sleeping in the week for some strange reason.

Did you stay up to watch the fight?
Nah, it wasn't worth killing myself for, I only had a few hours kip the night before so I thought it was best that I got my head down.
Saying that I always get up with the sun so I was awake at 5:30 and I watched it then so I was only a few hours behind.
I feel betrayed.

I barely sleep at the best of times, I get by on between 4 or 5 hours sleep if I'm lucky, not because I can't sleep but because that is all I seem to need, the boxing is great though
''Oi Batman we are all going out on the piss tonight are you coming?'' sorry lads but GGG is fighting Ginger Pubers so I'm staying up to watch that
''Oi Batman its Daves 33rd birthday, it won't be the same if you ain't there'' sorry lads but Floyd is fighting Manny so I'm staying up to watch thaat
and then I have been known to just completely lie
''Oi Batman it's Joe's mothers sisters brothers second removed cousins 13th anniversary we are going out on the piss for it'' sorry lads but Diego is fighting Korabzynikov and I can't miss that fight so I'm staying up to watch it''
never once has anyone asked me who either Diego or Korabzynikov is, its a great excuse to get out of going out, but as I say I have decided that I need to start integrating with the great unwashed again.
On a serious note I think I have a few serious issues that I am going to try and work out before I need to see a shrink.

Eat plenty of fruit, drink water, exercise regularly and yoga. You will be back on the mend in no time.

Geeeez, you guys are full of ----;D The fight wasn't shown here live so I came and listening to you fellas mostly the usual Manny "haters" & I thought Pac really lost until there was an uproar on soc-med and take note, coming from people like Lenox Lewis, Tyson. Lesson learned - never believe a word the snotty kids here say... Now, read this and learn, it sums up the what really happened yesterday:

Re: Pac vs Horn..do we care?
Here's the thing. I have read multiple people having Horn winning. I've seen multiple draws too. There are definitely more who have Pac winning, but that's why this isn't a robbery. There are obviously tons of boxing fans who have scored many fights and saw Horn do well.
Most of the people who have Pac winning were celebrities who rarely watch boxing. I had not problem with the decision and I wouldn't have minded if Pac won. Close fight either way. The thing that is bad for boxing wasn't the decision but that too many boxing personalities (Atlas and fat dan in particular) are making such a big deal about it. They should have been level headed and said it was a fine decision even though they disagreed.

Agreed. There is a cancer in the sport where there are so many awful reactions. Like Screamin A Smith, this would never happen in the UFC. Not true at all. Bad decisions happen in sports with judging. The difference is in the UFC Dana White bitches about the decision and says there will be an immediate rematch. Problem solved. Here there is a rematch clause. If Pac wants it he can get his revenge. Nothing to be in an uproar about. But boxing fans don't seem to know any other way to be anymore.
You can see it so clearly in the whole Floyd/Conor bank job. UFC fans are excited. Boxing fans are furious.
Boycott this, boycott that. Perhaps just have an honest dialogue rather than getting so worked up. Call a bank job a bank job. Call a wrong decision a wrong decision. No need for the drama of calling a disputable decision a robbery. That only lessens the value when real robberies happen "yeah, that's boxing, always robberies". It's just not true. And in this case it's not true. I had Pac winning and I would be hard pressed to find 7 rounds I could give to Horn. But that doesn't mean there aren't 7 that could be.
We just got a much better fight than 9 out of 10 of us expected. And on basically free tv. Enjoy it.

I think the biggest mistake was having Stephen A there as a town crier in the first place. They didn't put him there for his boxing knowledge and experience, which isn't the case in Teddy or Fat Dan, but for his cross over network face and ability to frankly talk the loudest shat. Really nothing more. Teddy has always called what he perceives terrible decisions on live tv right up to the point of confronting State commissioners and airing out the errors of appointed judges and blown calls etc. and he's done it both pro and con involving the very same fighters. Now the term 'robbery' is thrown around far too often just as 'great' is but what we need fewer of are network lapdogs who try to walk a balance beam of 'well I dunno, it could have gone either way I guess so yeh' instead of taking definitive stands to what they watched and experienced live. There are robberies that occur and there are fights that hinge on 1 point either way but personally I cannot see either case here but I saw a terrible decision. Atlas doesn't give two shats how many retweets or 'likes' he gets.

Re: Pac vs Horn..do we care?
Atlas actually makes a fight less enjoyable for me. I'm am depressed over the decision of this fight. I feel better having said it.
-
Re: Pac vs Horn..do we care?
First of all Stephen A Smith requires immediate psychiatric evaluation, his ranting and raving was borderline insanity. He was wrong on every count. Teddy Atlas was against Horn from the outset, he wants to see the Pacquiao of 2009 and that ship has long since sailed. Pacman is 38 and he has been through some wars, it's really over for him. I shudder to think what Errol Spence jr would do to him let alone Horn. I really don't understand all the fuss? Atlas is pissed off because he knows a Spence V Pacman fight is the bigger draw card, but Manny isn't going to beat Spence or Thurmann, not now, not at age 38. Sure, let's see a rematch with Manny and Horn, but if Manny couldn't put Horn away in round 9 i don't see him putting him away in fight number 2? Pacman has gone 8 years without a KO! Then what?

Atlas set a stage for outrage. Giving Pac 5 of the first 6 is every bit as bad as giving Horn the decision. His card was actually why I said before the cards came out "this could go either way" it wasn't that I thought Horn won. I had Pac. It was that it was a fight where you could see how the judges could think Horn won.
I don't believe Atlas says anything he doesn't believe which I appreciate about him. But he builds a narrative and convinces himself of it. You can see that when he says a fighter should do....when it doesn't work he doesn't acknowledge it. When it does work, see, like I said, bang. The way the guy thinks he gave Pac 5 of the first 6 so Pac won 5 of the first 6. If his first half of his card was better he wouldn't have needed his later outrage.
When I score a fight I put the score and by any close rounds I put SR for swing round. In this fight I had 4. Usually it is one or 2. So I knew how I had it and the possible score. Anything outside that is BS. Like the 117 score, BS. But, 115-113 fell right on the edge if every swing round went to Horn it was possible. Doesn't make it right. But it isn't outright corruption.

Re: Pac vs Horn..do we care?
If anyone wants a good laugh go check out boxrec P4P list. I promise you won't be disappointed. For that matter check out the WW ratings too. Their algorithm is either broken or was just terrible to begin with
