Re: Colin Kaepernick and the absurdity of the NFL
I don't know anything at all about American football. I'm aware of this guy and all the controversy about the national anthem (and wonder why a President is getting involved personally in this). However, I dint really have a well reasoned or knowledgeable viewpoint.
I do have a question, though .... is the guy very good at American football?

Thanks Mr. "You don't live here!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: you can't comment!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:"
@X the President is involved because it USED to be that before a game (any game) would start the fans and players would all be reminded that regardless of what happens between the whistles, we're all Americans and this is just a game. Likewise a post match prayer (for those who practice/believe/or just want to join in a moment of thanks) typically takes place as well....kneeling is WELCOMED at that point.

You all ready have a monarch. He inherited the post due to nothing more than an accident of Birth that made him Mike TV with his own Golden Ticket. (fuck this stuff is too easy)

Re: Colin Kaepernick and the absurdity of the NFL
I vaguely remember a couple 'activists' talking about banning early Jordans because kids were killing each other for them. Used to be a huge beef between Nike and Adidas, became very symbolic what you wore. Nike is just laughing all the way to the bank.
what gets me is for a major sports brand that exceeds shoes, wouldn't you want an athlete who actually plays sports ???. I like the add though. Pretty well done.

Because being POTUS isn't demanding enough and allows a lot of leisure time to get involved in stuff like this. ;) ;)
But the serious answer is that it's a cheap and easy way to shore up popularity by appealing to the raw emotion of his base plus the patriots in the country who take kneeling during the anthem as a personal affront, no matter what the issue.

Like beanz says u donât live here u have no right to discuss it

Technically I do, but that's too complicated and the topic for another discussion.
Meanwhile, I'll take my chances that I may not be authorized to give an opinion on Chump..... er..... Trump.

Re: Colin Kaepernick and the absurdity of the NFL
Colin Kaepernick is an over-privileged spoiled crybaby and a traitor to his country.
He was raised by affluent white parents and has had every imaginable opportunity in life.

Eagles Bring Out âPhilly Specialâ To Win But NFL Kickoff Ratings Down From 2017
https://deadline.com/2018/09/eagles-...bc-1202459228/
Football is being killed...it's not JUST Colin Kaepernick but he's a part of it. I think most of it is concussions and CTE but also the literal criminals playing (middle school through the pros...they're given passes for whatever reason) I know I've played with some who've spent time in the hoosegow.
There was a time I slept, ate, drank, and breathed nothing but football.....now I watch soccer and baseball and play hockey...the game has been changed, the rules have been changed, and the athletes who yes are entitled to their opinions and actions have alienated a good portion of the fanbase. You see similar results from Hollywood as well....I think we're hitting "peak woke" and people in flyover country are just saying "Fuck this I'll watch or do something else because I don't care for what this has become"

Good points Lyle, and yes.... the ratings are down. Too bad, because the NFL still remains a formidable spectacle. I myself have been an NFL fan for years and years. Concussions and CTE are very serious business, and I'm glad Hollywood saw fit to address it in their own way. I loved the movie, by the way. On criminals being given passes in the NFL, yeah.... but then I don't see a lot of entry character requirements in other pro sports either. It sucks, but what can you do.... it remains Big Business.
Difference between me and most people is... I've never put much stock in what Hollywood folks say regarding politics, and I'm not about to start now. I come to my own conclusions, but unfortunately there ARE those weak-minded people who follow like sheep. Those are the ones who unfortunately have an impact in every election.
Soccer I'm getting more and more into. Baseball season is WAY too long, but I enjoy the late season, playoffs, and the World Series. Hockey looks tons of fun to play, but I can never follow the puck so I don't watch it much. ;D

Oh when it comes to actors and actresses spewing their political opinions like they should carry a bunch of weight just because they are great Professional Make Believers I ask myself "What if some average Joe told all his customers his politics in such a narcissistic manner?".......

I don't see the point in watching any new films. It all seems to be comic book films with buildings toppling all over the place or else agenda based films. It's just poor. I try to check out older films that I might have missed. New films are silly and if I want to play something that looks like a computer game I will........I dunno.....play a computer game!

That part reminds me of Bill Burrs bit on the first lady spouting her views. And likening it to calling a plumber, getting his opinion and then the plumber's wife jumping in and giving her opinion on the problem.

Re: Colin Kaepernick and the absurdity of the NFL
Well the numbers speak
Talk of Nike Inc. sales taking a hit from the companyâs decision to put exâNFL player Colin Kaepernick at the center of its latest âJust Do Itâ campaign is looking overblown, based on data from a Silicon Valley digital commerce research company.
After an initial dip immediately after the news broke, Nikeâs NKE, -0.12% online sales actually grew 31% from the Sunday of Labor Day weekend through Tuesday, as compared with a 17% gain recorded for the same period of 2017, according to San Franciscoâbased Edison Trends.

Letâs see if it holds up. Stock needs to recover what it lost first. If it continues companies will learn there is money to be made on #whitegenocide

Re: Colin Kaepernick and the absurdity of the NFL
Ratings for the NFLâs season opener on Thursday night fell 8 percent from last yearâs opener â to their lowest level in a decade.
The decline came even after the TV audience for last yearâs opener declined 19 percent from 2016âs opener, statistics out Friday revealed.
The âThursday Night Footballâ telecast on NBC, delayed 45 minutes due to severe weather in the Philadelphia area, averaged a 13.4 overnight rating.
That made it the lowest season opener in 10 years, according to Sports Media Watch â and breathed new life into fears about the NFL being unable to extricate itself from a structural decline.
Lowest in ten years. I didnât watch the game either but Iâll probably still watch the patriots play if given the chance
