Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
Lovely catch from the Chicago bears guy with the last play of the game, they still lost by 12 but a nice a way to lose as it gets maybe :S.... New Orleans maybe would have liked to have had a wider win but after the tight first half they pulled away pretty good...
What's next cleavage browns v Pittsburgh....
Mon the browns I guess... Woof woof woof... Or whatever they do

That was definitely a little shaky for the Saints. Brees says it's his last year and Taysom Hill has proven to be a great multi tasker but unreliable in the pocket. Going to be an all out scrap v the Bucs and Brady next out.

We'll be on opposite sides on this one, bro.
It'll be historic, though.
Gotta be the first playoff game with a combined age of 84 going on 85 in a few days. :o

Going to be tough. But really want this for Brees. 2010 feels like 100 years ago and he's given everything to this team and City. Sucks though because no matter who takes it they'll be that big ugly fat asterisk of *Covid season :-X. Enjoy it while we can.

Cleveland are giving Pittsburgh a bit of a thrashing 28-0 after the first quarter

No one could've predicted this. If I was a cartoonist, the image that comes to mind is the Titanic (Steelers) sinking after they crashed into the iceberg (Browns).
I'm in shock.
On the other hand, seeing the Bills and Browns (most likely) advancing is a bit heartwarming, given the losing nature of these two NFL cities.
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
35-16 now with a lot of time left, this might have a fun ending...
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
Wow... Pittsburgh is mounting a furious comeback. I can't believe Cleveland will just roll over for it... but yeah... this could get interesting pretty quick.
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
The browns brought it back, good drives there, that should be it after the field goal.. You just can't give up four touch downs in the first quarter and win.. I didn't see titans v ravens but this is the game of the day for me... Out of a choice of two :S.....
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
My team is now out of it... and the Divisional Playoffs are set.
Browns at Kansas City: I got no dog in this fight... but what the hell. The Browns eliminated my Steelers and it's their first playoff win since the Stone Ages... so I wouldn't mind them going a bit further. Rooting for the underdogs on this one.
Buccaneers at Saints: Rooting like for the Buccaneers. Anything that will cement Tom Brady's legacy as the GOAT is just fine by me. Nothing against the Saints, as I like Drew Brees also... but GO BUCS!!!
Rams at Packers: Again... no dog in this fight. Rodgers is a good guy and an ATG in his own right. So if he wins... great. If the underdog Rams should happen to win (I doubt it)... great.
Ravens at Buffalo: Oh man... C'MON BILLS!!! Not only do I sympathize with their "Cleveland-like" playoff drought... but I absolutely DESPISE the Ravens. Rooting hard for the Bills.
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
Looks like the top tier. I would have been tickled had Washington made it.
My coworkers say KS is the best.

Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
Green Bay are starting to bring the pain for la, I thought la had a good chance to win the whole thing, it's a good look for green bay to pull so far ahead..
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
Ops I spoke to soon, la are getting back into now.
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
Greenbay won by double digits, good win for them, la got some points but I thought Green Bay looked pretty strong here, surely they're going to the superbowl.
I don't know which league is which here but I hope greenbay don't win it, I'm backing Buffalo or new Orleans, buffalo would be hilarious, so mon the bills
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
Well right now the Bills and Ravens are locked in a 3-3 tie at halftime. Quite the offensive firepower show. ;D
The Bills have missed some big shots down the field and you can only let Baltimore hang around for so long. Fingers crossed that Buffalo wins.
The GB-Rams game was predictable, IMO. Rams playing with a hampered All-Universe defensive lineman (Aaron Donald)... you could tell he was never a factor in the game.
Hats off to Ram QB Goff for playing with a right thumb that was operated on only a couple of weeks ago, it seems.
A healthy Donald and Goff... and it could've been a bit closer, although the Packers are pretty hot right now. I agree... I think they go to the Super Bowl.
It wouldn't be against New Orleans, however, as they're both in the NFC. I'm sooooo rooting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in that one.
Well... let's hope Buffalo pulls away in the second half of this one.
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
Ahhh... perfect. I'll be going to sleep with a smile on my face.
LOVED the pick six for 100+ yards. 17-3. Ouch! ;D
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
That GB 20 second drive end of the 2nd quarter sealed it for me. Seemed it was theirs. Watched 2nd 1/2 highlights only- seemed Rams had to make a tackle on the 2nd 3rd, can't stop an open field tackle---and then give it to a team with Rodgers?;)
From what I saw, GB was just better all around Offense & Defense.
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
Well.... I'm off to my brother's for some craft beer, football-appropriate munchies....... and of course an afternoon/evening full of quality NFL Playoff football. ;D ;D

YAHHHH!!!! :rocks: :beerchug:  :happy0931sb4:
As ordered!
The Bills bounced the Ravens out of the playoffs, for which I'm eternally grateful. ;D
And tonight... the Tampa Bay Buccaneers upset the Saints!!! ;D ;D ;D
About the only thing that would've made it better is if the Browns had beaten the Chiefs. They made it pretty close, however... and it was a good game till the end.
So now the Conference Championships are all set.
Next Sunday we have:
Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs (rooting for the Bills, who I believe can pull off the upset)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Green Bay Packers (rooting for the Bucs, and I'm not gonna doubt them after tonight) ;D

SLIM! ;D
Finally... a chance to trash-talk with an esteemed fellow Saddo'er over football. :)
First, my apologies as I think my @mention feature isn't working very well (it tells me there's a mention, but doesn't tell me where) ???
Now to the matter at hand.
HA!
If you think ol' "Mr. Discount-Double-Check slash Rodgers'-special-rate slash whatever other commercials he makes"... is going to send Mr. GOAT to a premature retirement party..... YOU'RE WRONG! ;D
In the words of NASA flight director Gene Kranz in Apollo 13......
https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/1fc26ea...3-e4c69f6e60e4
This will be one for the ages, nonetheless.
But just like I like Drew Brees and felt a bit sorry when the GOAT banished him from the playoffs... so it will happen to Mr. Rodgers, who I also like very much (he's just another stone in Brady's way right now). :D
Still... congrats to the Packers to have come all this way and into yet another NFC Championship Game.
But... maybe next year. ;)
(BTW... I love Aaron's commercials :) )

This game will be a rare moment where fans get to see 2 future HOF QB's at the end of their career (still kicking booty!) are both 1 game away from the big dance- special enough to take us away from other stuff -if just for 3 hours!

Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
Everyone gets it. The NFL is merely a television show. Networks pay insane rights fees so if Tiger Woods or Canelo Alvarez has to play quarterback for the Denver Broncos they’ll still play. But players are at severe risk during a worsening pandemic. Teams are depleted so they’re not at their competitive best. You never know when games are scheduled. Teams aren’t allowed to play at home.
I look forward to Super Bowl Thursday (rescheduled from Sunday because one team’s entire offensive line is out with COVID), and the game will be moved from Tampa (because, well it’s Florida and by then everyone in the state will test positive) to Dallas (where I just lived for one and a half years and where they don’t care if everyone tests positive) and everybody has their traditional Super Bowl parties for three. The halftime show with Weeknd should be spectacular -- one guy on the field.
If the NFL was smart it would just junk the rest of the season and play it out on Playstation.
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
I'm sure they'll take that into consideration.

Anyway... back to football.
Either way it goes, it'll end up being an ATG, 1st-ballot HOF'er versus a young, up-and-coming star in the Super Bowl. Either Brady or Rodgers versus Mahomes or Allen. Doesn't get any better than that.
The playoffs have been amazing... and as usual I watched just about EVERY game. (NFL overdose)
They were all pretty much competitive, if I remember correctly... and I expect this weekend to be the same.
Good luck to you, Slim... but I'm still rooting for the GOAT. ;D

The fact that Breez stats showed a slow by stead decline, further solidifies Brady's position all the more.
Like to sleep a whole day an wake up to that game, but one more day in between the Big Dance to the Fina Dance! I might be hollering TOUCH DOWN!:o for both teams!!

Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
In fact I'm torn as if this were Barerra vs Morales or JMM vs Pac. Hard to get angry when either guy landed, same for Brady/Rodgers throwing TDs!
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
I have a friend over here who has friends in Cleveland and has been a Brown's fan, going over to watch them on his vacation for at least the 25yrs I have known him. You could certainly never call him a glory hunter so understandably he has been made up with their recent run. They came so close by the sound of it.
Always nice to see an underdog over achieve in any sport in fact in any field.
-
Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
If you're a loyal Cleveland Browns fan you deserve all the success that comes your way, when it finally does happen. Same goes for Buffalo Bills fans. Steadfast, loyal fans of perennial losing teams. This year it's been different, though.

Re: The Lonely NFL Thread (complete with tumbleweeds)
I concede @Titfan. Brady is GOAT. Decent comeback, but wasn't good enough for Rodgers. The better team won.

Hey Slim. Although I was happy that Brady moved on to the Super Bowl, it was sad to see Rodgers so devastated at the end of the game. Damn... the guy seemed near tears. The media of course jumped all over his "veiled" comment about his future. They should give the guy a break. You lose a heartbreaker like that... after having such a stellar year... you shouldn't be held to every single word you say. Geez... :vd:
Hopefully everything will work out fine and Aaron will be back in a Packers uniform next season.
BTW, @SlimTrae ... I noticed your spelling gaffe there. But if there was any type of slipup on my name to be had... it's tough to beat "Titfan". ;D ;D ;D
Back to the SB though... of course I'm gonna be pulling for Brady & Co. to finish their improbably quest and beat the Chiefs. Tough mountain to climb, though.
